“A great vacation with amazing views”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2011

Staff is amazing, very helpful and courteous. We paid for early ck-in, but unfortunately the house was not ready. We were refunded the early ck-in fee. House has fantastic views and great fishing from the pier. Could use some up-dates in the house, but still very comfortable. We will definately come back to Pirates Cove.

“We Love the OBX”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2011

My family and I have been staying at the Outer Banks for 2 decades and have been staying at Pirates Cove for the last 10 years. Over this time, we have accumulated many wonderful memories that are immeasurably valuable. While the property this year was a little run down compared to the others we have stayed in, we still had a great time. The only complaint we have is that the marketing materials tout that the units have bikes, beach chairs, ping pong tables, video game systems, etc., and often these items do not exist or are in complete disrepair. Ensuring the quality (and existence) of these relatively inexpensive items would go a long way toward making the experience more enjoyable. In closing, we love Pirates Cove and have recommended it to many of our friends. Each year we consider a different destination, but ultimately end up at Pirates Cove which has become our home away from home!

“Love Pirates Cove but disliked this house.”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

I have been staying at Pirates Cove for the last 15 years maybe longer and this house by far has to be the worst I ever stayed in. The washer was rusted, the dryer didn't work correctly. The stero was not working correctly the speakers stunk and for the first time in my life the house was not clean like we have grown acustomed to. I'm really sorry for having to leave such a negative review.

“Great place to stay with a family”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2010

Great family place with the gated community. Friendly helpful staff, clean, quiet neighborhood and the kids loved the private pier and the community pool.

“Beautiful weather and location. House #79 not worth price!”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2010

House needs a lot of TLC. Needs painted on the outside and screens need to be replaced on so-called screened-in porch that we were unable to use. Kitchen has a few ants, Needs cabinets washed out and organized. Needs new appliances. Bathrooms could of been cleaner. Needs to have wallpaper taken out and paint the walls. Mildew was all over the shower curtain in one of the bathrooms. Yuck! Love the new furniture in the living room. Very Nice! Steps on back of house are leaning. Be careful! Enjoyed the table tennis table. Ac on and off cooling. Not sure about that. Caught lots of crabs from house pier and a couple croaker. Enjoyed the views of sound and fireworks from the deck. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises overlooking the sound.

“Comfortable Cottage”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2010

Our Progressive Dinner Group rented this house over New Year's. The house was great for entertaining and cooking with its open floor plan. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and other cooking supplies. The view of the open sound was lovely from the back windows and deck. One reason we chose this house was the having the bunk room off the main living area--it suited us b/c we didn't use it---but I could imagine having young children in there so close to the evening conversations might be a question. The staff at Pirate's Cove were very helpful and accommodating. We'd come back.

“Another Great Week at the Outer Banks”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2009

This is the 6th time we have rented a home at Pirate's Cove. We have never rented VL 79, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We had eight adults and the kitchen was very well equipped for our cooking needs. The sound view is beautiful, and we enjoyed the hot on the deck and the ping pong table in the basement. It has two washers and dryers which was great. Despite three days of rain, we had a great vacation relaxing and enjoying God's beautiful creation. This home could be updated in decor and we had a small ant problem, but overall the house very comfortable for our group.

“Relaxing vacation, enjoyed our stay”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2009

The services from Pirates Cove were excellent. Staff very responsive and attentive. The house was nice and comfortable. Worth what we paid for. We have stayed at much nicer houses farther north on the island, but we paid significantly more for them. It was wonderful to wake up to that water view...wish I had that every day!

“Overall OK”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2009

This was not my first time staying at Pirates Cove and will likely not be the last. Overall the house was good. The decor was good and everything worked execpt the air conditioning. It was impossible to get a constant temp throughout the house. The upstairs was extremely hot while the family area ranged from very clod to moferate. If you rent this house be prepared for temps all over the spectrum. I would not rent this home again until I was positive the air situation was corrected.

Response from the manager We are very sorry for the discomfort you experienced during your stay with us. This house does have 2 thermostats one for each level. We had it checked out and don't find any issues. The upper level thermostat was hidden behind a silk plant and has been moved to avoid any more confusion if that happened to be the case.

“Return Customer”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2009

My family rented this home twice. It is a great house with lots of space. The house has a great view of the sound. We enjoyed all of the extras, i.e., hot tub, bikes, and ping pong. I would definitely recommend this home to others.
