“A lovely apartment in a glorious city”
We were met at the Vaporetto stop although it took some doing for us to realise that there are several at St Mark's Square and we had to make it to the right one in heavy rain and darkness. The apartment is less than five minutes from the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square and just couldn't be better positioned. It is bright and well appointed. The highlight for us both was the daily gondola flotillas with their singers and musicians. The weather wasn't that kind to us but we did manage to sit out on the altana a couple of times in the sunshine with glasses of wine. The location is close to tourist hotspots but quiet. Walk anywhere to get get away from the crowds - Venice is gorgeous whichever way you go!
“Great location, spacious flat, easy service”
Value for money is great, even more so if compared to others. Big flat at a great location with good facilities (dish washer, washing machine, Wlan, sat TV, altana, etc). Pretty central location but yet quiet enough. Good views to the San Marc canal, the tip of the Campanile, etc. Air condition is problematic though as it is really only in the small bedroom, making it hard to cool down the complete appartment. The a/C is also a bit moulded which is why we didn't use it anymore after the first days. Service with Truly Venice was smooth. Easy booking, payment, good check-in service. Extra questions on phone weren't answered too quickly - taking some days. But as they aren't a vacation agency, that's totally acceptable. :) During our 17 days stay we had two interim cleanings from which both didn't happen at the announced/requested appointment (one was earlier than requested, one a day earlier than announced). Was a bit annoying but still not a too big problem. All in all highly recommendable!
Wonderful location. A1 in fact with a perfect view over the canal which seems to be on a regular gondola circuit. A couple of problems though...the toilet flush mechanism was broken for the entire week of our rental and was not fixed after numerous promises by our contact. The built in fridge is mouldy and smelly and has been replaced by a seperate stand alone unit. The items in the stands are very dust laden. Otherwise great place.
Hi, We stayed in your apartment in June 2013. The apartment was fabulous and the location was fantastic. The apartment was very spacious, elegant and had everything we needed, with the bonus of a beautiful canal view , and a great little balcony on the roof. We had drinks at the end of the day up here. It is right near a piazza with restaurants, and really close to San Marco, and the ferries, also only about an 8 min(if you don't look at shops) walk to the Rialto Bridge. The apartment is on about the 3rd floor with no lift, so maybe difficult for some people, but the bonus of being this high was we had the rooftop balcony, and a great view over the rooftops. We could even see San Georgio in the distance. We were travelling with myself, husband and 15year old daughter. She slept upstairs in the study/alcove, and loved having her own space. There was not a proper bed here (mattress on floor), and no closing doors for privacy, so probably not good for people other than family. It was very easy to get to everything from this apartment, and the check in and greeting was smooth. It is not far from the ferries when carrying suitcases.
“Excellent location and very comfortable”
This flat was so convenient for all the sites - just seven minutes from San Marco. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and pretty well-equipped. Perfect for one couple. Definitely not for young children or very old people - the staircase to the upstairs sitting room could be very dangerous. The bathroom was rather tired, and the shower was not good - you either had to hold the nozzle close to you, or drench the bathrooom floor. The bed was large and comfortable. We had a lovely view up the canal leading to the Grand Canal, and enjoyed the "traffic jam" of gondolas as we ate breakfast in our kitchen!
It was our first visit to Venice and it was great having an apartment as our base. The location and view were perfect. The stairs were a bit rough at the beginning of the week, but by the end, we were pros.
“Only one real added value - location”
I will be very short and simply list plus - location. indeed very central, few minutes from everything, great views from some windows - we liked the roof terrace for the view minus - no elevator and top floor - old bathroom required renovation - very old kitchen - crying for renovation - very "abused" kitchen appliance
“Venice- Over and above”
Our one week stay at altana was a Dream Come True. Breathtaking 360 degree views from the rooftop patio, the sights and sounds of the Gondolas passing below, and the splendor and spaciousness of the apartment all contributed to a wonderful visit to Venice. The location was especially great, being so close to San Marco, the center of everything, while secluded enough to get away from the throngs. The apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook meals, wash & dry our clothes, and plan our adventures each day. It was Truly as if we were full time residents! The only thing we didn't figure out until the very last moment was that we didn't need a key to open the street level door from the inside.
This is my third stay in altana and I now consider it my annual home in Venice! The location is great - away from the crowds but only a few minutes walk from the sights of San Marco (And just around the corner from a delightful bacaro with the best bacala in Venice!) In fact, you can see the campanile from the lovely altana - and there is nothing more magical than hearing the chimes at midnight! The views are breath-taking - rooftops and bacino and canals. The spacious duplex open plan living makes for wonderful dinner parties - and with those views - who wants to eat anywhere else? (Get the evening with started with a little sunset prosecco on the altana and soak in the the amazing colour palette of Venice!) The evening meal even comes with it's own musical accompaniment...leave the windows open and the joyous voices of the gondolieri singing as they paddle the tourists along the piccoli canali will fill the room. Sheer perfection! (Not to mention always reliable and fantastic welcome service from Daniela and the Truly Venice team!
We loved our stay in altana and definitely will be back again. The only thing might be changed - flowers on altana :)
