- Very Good
We spent a week at alba D'Oro in Venice, and we enjoyed the whole experience. The location, very close to the Rialto Mercato vaporetto stop, is perfect for walking everywhere. The apartment is beautiful and overlooks the Grand Canal. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The kitchen is great, and we made a number of meals using the Rialto market to supply us. Truly Venice was very easy to work with. Both deposit and final payment could be made by credit card. They also have a complete book of instructions located in apartment. Every rental agency should do this. It can be very difficult to remember how to operate the washing machine after getting verbal instructions days earlier! The book also includes sightseeing suggestions as well as recommended restaurants. This is our "return to" apartment in Venice!
“So nearly perfect”
Alba D'Oro is a large, very comfortable and surprisingly quiet apartment at the very centre of Venice life. It is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well decorated. However, we thought that providing just two long stemmed wine glasses, in an apartment for four, was a bit mean and that the kitchen was not as well equipped as other apartments we have rented from Truly Venice and other people over the years. In fact the limited crockery and cutlery available made the dish-washer fairly redundant. Apart from this small gripe, we would thoroughly recommend both alba D'Oro and Truly Venice to anyone looking for an extra-special apartment in Venice.
“Brilliant and beautiful”
This is the second time we have used Truly Venice for accomodation in Venice and again the didnot disappoint. The company is extremely professional and courteous from the booking arrangements to being met at our apartment, nothing is a bother. The apartments are well maintained and contain everything that is needed, especially in the kitchen, from cutlery to condiments to coffee makers. Our stay this time at apartment alba D'Oro was faultless. The accomodation was excellent and the view and location, priceless. I will use this company again and have recommended it to many people. Thankyou Daniela for another wonderful Venetian experience.
“Magical views set the scene for a wonderful 9 days”
The experience from the water taxi pickup at the airport to the greeting at the canal side to the apartment - were all first rate. The apartment is spacious, the views from the lounge extraordinary and location first rate. The Rialto markets are 5 minutes away, and have great seafood and fruit and vegetables. Nothing to criticise.
“Perfect base for exploring the wonders of Venice”
We could not fault this Grand Canal apartment. It was very clean and spacioous and ideally located. The fish and produce markets were right next door and the views were spectacular. We were there in the middle of winter and were grateful that the heating was so efficient given it was at times below zero degrees at night. Thank you to the staff at Truly Venice and to Felizia (hope the spelling is correct)who was most welcoming and helpful showing us through the apartment. Can highly recommend the water taxi pick up and drop off service. We even hired Davis or a two hour trip to Murano and Burano in his water taxi. When we are next in Venice we will definitely rent through Truly Venice. Thank you for helping make our 5 nights in Venice so memorable and comfortable!!!
“Awesome location !”
We stayed in the alba DÓro in Nov.2012. The rental company, Truly Venice, were excellent from the minute we booked until the minute we left Venice. They organised everything for our water taxi bookings to and from the airport, and the taxis were always on time, with an excellent service. This is the best way to go as the taxi drops you right at the door, so no need to carry the luggage too far.The apartment was fantastic, close to the vaporetto, Rialto Market, local shops and Rialto Bridge. Truly Venice did everything they said they would. The apartment had everything we could ever ask for. The only downside was that the TV had not one English-speaking channel, but then who cares when you are in such a beautiful city such as Venice. The views of the Grand Canal from the apartment were wonderful. The apartment is directly across the GC from Ca DÓro vaporetto stop, and only a 2 minute walk to the Rialto Market vaporetto stop. The vaporettos are so easy to use, especially if you buy a 7 day pass as we did. Having the market so close was awesome...we lived like the locals, buying fresh food every day to cook for dinner. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone, but it is only a one-bedroom apartment so obviously not suitable if you have children, or if there is more than one couple. I would most definitely only ever stay at this apartment whenever I return to Venice in the future. I would have no hesitation in using another apartment managed by Truly Venice again, if this apartment is not available...their professionalism was excellent.
“Comfortable and well situated”
Very efficient service, met at the vaporetto stop, which is very convenient for the apartment. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, the folding bed in the living room really handy for two single travellors, in addition to the bed in the bedroom. The location - next to a vaporetto stop and near the Rialto Market, was fabulous, and also very convenient - signs on the street walls pointed either to St Mark's Square, or Rialto, so it was difficult to get completely lost. The view of the Grand Canal was fabulous - the only thing that could improve it would be a balcony. The bathroom rather let the apartment down - the shower curtain was awkward, the light didn't work. There was also a broken lamp in the living room. I wasn't entirely clear how the 400 Euro breakage bond was to be collected, whether it would be charged to my credit card in advance and then reimbursed, or 'pre-authorised', as in a hotel (the latter, as it happened). Also, the lock on the door to the apartment was very stiff - we almost got locked out a few times.
“Would go back anytime”
The Truly Venice person met us on a busy day of arrivals in December so we waited a little while, but he did come and was very helpful in settling us in. The whole process was very smooth. The unit is fabulous for two people. The views are excellent, the beds comfortable, the kitchen good, some of the electrical items a bit cantankerous but nothing major. The location is excellent. The Rialto markets are very close - seafood and vegetables - everything you'd need. There is a great bread shop nearby and a good deli. Supermarket not too far away. It was good to be a little out of the way but at the same time close to the well-trod path. Anyone with severe mobility problems could find this unit difficult to access, with the steps. However, some of the reports about the steps I read before coming are so overstated.
“A Dream on the Grand Canal”
We stayed in the alba D'Oro flat for week in late June in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. The apartment was just terrific, situated next to the Grand Canal near the Pescheria and Rialto Bridge and the narrow, winding calles and delicious bacari (wine and cichetti bars) of San Polo sestiere (we particularly recommend Cantini do Mori and all'Arco). It was very hot and humid during our visit, which was okay, but coming back to our comfortable, spacious, and air-conditioned apartment always felt like a blessing after a good long walk though the city. Comfortable bed, light and airy living room with big windows onto the canal, and a well-equipped kitchen...we were delighted with the apartment (and the staff) and will definitely seek to rent alba D'Oro again when next we visit Venice.
Alba D'Oro was simply perfect in every way. Decor stylish and understated; location perfect for exploring all of Venice. Trully Venice were great in meeting us and showing us tbe property. We simply couldn't as for more other than more days to stay. We are planning our return to Venice and we will choose alba D'Oro. This is a much better option than staying in a hotel! Thank you to the owners and Truly Venice. A very special time was had.
