“I loved Brick Decimo! Charming place, great price, great locati”
The location is great - walking, it is just a few minutes from the arno, 10 min to the Duomo, 15-20 min to the train station. Very near a laundromat and grocery store. The apartment itself is small but comfortable. It was very hot when I was in Florence, but I don't mind heat so much and was comfortable with windows open and the fan provided (no a/C). It didn't get as hot as I would expect a top floor apartment to be. Furnishings are basic; bedroom has double bed, TV, and wardrobe; kitchen has small fridge, 2-burner gas stovetop, sink, a few cooking supplies, table, and 2 chairs. Bathroom has a stand-up shower. The apartment is clean and pretty - lots of character. A pretty pair of pigeons roosted every night under the eve opposite the bedroom window! :) Maddalena is very welcoming. She was out of town during my stay, so she had someone else meet me to let me in (you do need to arrange a time), but she was very quick to answer any questions I had. She provided a packet of information about the apartment and the neighborhood, and good recommendations for places to visit. Internet access was a challenge for me as I don't have a smart phone (Firenze WiFI was not available and seems to be limited around Florence in general - I never figured out if I could purchase access without a Firenze card), but there are several cafes in the area that offer free WiFi for customers. Ask as they don't all advertise! The Opera Caffe by the Duomo was my favorite spot. If you have trouble with stairs, this isn't the place for you. For me, it was an excuse to eat an extra scoop of gelato :) The neighborhood was noisy at night. If it's hot, you'll need to sleep with the windows open, so bring earplugs! But I often need earplugs when I travel, and I think the noise would be a factor anywhere in Florence; people stay out late, and the streets are noisy! The building itself is quiet and quite peaceful. It was lovely for my stay in Florence, and I would happily stay there again!
“Convenient and Cozy”
I've recently returned from Florence, having spent a little over three weeks at Brick Decimo. The location was very convenient, the room quiet, and the atmosphere pleasant. I had everything that I needed. The proprietor was very helpful. Like most places in Europe, internet access was limited, but there are a number of bars and coffee shops in the area that offer free wifi to customers. Be mindful though that on Saturday nights you'll hear the teenagers and tourists who have taken to drinking in the alleys, churches, and piazzas. They'll make quite a racket, but that would be the case no matter where you stayed in Florence. Don't blame Brick Decimo!
Funky little fourth floor appartment that was conveniently located near the Santa Croce church. Compact but fully equiped to meet my needs. Close to a grocery store, banks, and laundromat. Also within easy walking distance to many sites. Maddalena was waiting for me upon my arrival and made me feel right at home showing me the appartment and providing me with a list of "must sees," nearby restaurants and a hand drawn map of the immediate area. Great value for price, and a deposit wasn't required. Only draw back is that it's quite a ways up to the 4th floor, but great practice for the walk up the steps to the top of the Duomo.
“Fantastico appartamentino a Firenze”
Bellissimo!
I stayed at the Brick Decimo for 4 weeks and it was an amazing time. Maddalena provided me with maps and loads of helpful information, tips and advice. The home is nice and close to almost everything in Florence - you can walk to most museums, churches, galleries and other sites within 15 minutes. Plus about 2 minutes walk from a laundrymat and cheap computer/internet access. The house had everything I needed - bedroom, bathroom, fridge, stovetop, etc., as well as the bonus of views of il Duomo (the Dome) from looking out the window. You get plenty of exercise walking up and down the steps which was good preparation for climbing up the Duomo, Giotto's Tower and the Tower d'Arnolfo. And the best thing about the apartment is that it's in Florence! I would recommend this apartment for anyone for a very nice, comfortable and afordable place to stay while in Florence.
This bright & lovely apartment was absolutely perfect for my 3 day visit to Florence. It is bright & cheerily decorated with crisp white linens and very clean. The location couldn't be better in terms of visiting all the major museums and sites in Florence; all within 20-30 minute walking distance. Maddelena was a very gracious host providing a print out of very helpful information on local dining and neighbourhood services. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to this amazing city. Thank you Maddelena for making me feel so welcome.
“Perfect Doll's house in a Perfect Location”
I stayed in the Brick Decimo for the month of april while I was doing the 1 month intensive Tefl course. It was perfect for all my needs except 2 things. 1. I needed to buy an internet stick to access the internet. 2. There was nowhere to sit comfortably and work or watch tv. The location is excellent for all services and restaurants. and the apt was well equipped for a short stay and the service unexpected and excellent.
“Cozy and well taken care of.”
It is a lovely place and I was well taken care of, when I come back to Italy I shall definitely be looking up the Brick Decimo again. The apartment was small but very cozy and had everything you could need for a short stay abroad. I heartily recommend it.
“sweet & romantic”
Though the stairs are steep enough (consider that if you've got some mobility impairments) the appartment is absolutely rewarding with your own view of sunlit terracota roofs and azzurro skyes of Toscana. Conviniently located (just next door to Santa Croce), properly equipped, clean, calm and romantic - it revokes sweet memoirs of a very nice week in Firenze. Special thanks to Maddalena for hospitality and guidance that made us feel at home in Florence from the first day of our stay.
We stayed just a long weekend in beautiful Florence, wish we could have stayed longer... The city was amazing and Brick Decimo was the perfect cozy place to make this weekend even more perfect. Thanks Maddalena for the hospitality, we'll be back soon! Jasira, Barcelona, Spain.
