Very Good

“Stunningly tranquil log cabin.”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2017

Picturesque location in a valley surrounded by mountains. Family-friendly cabin with hot tub. Ideally located to explore the Golden Circle and surrounding areas.

“Superb week.”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2014

We went in January as a group of 8 and had a wonderful time. The cabin is warm, cosy, spacious and fully stocked with everything you would need. The hot tub was fantastic under the stars and Northern lights. It is in a good location in regard to attractions and we got to see pretty much everything we wanted to within the week. We had a slight mishap with check out but that was due to us not reading the Cabin instructions properly. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it everyone.

We had a fantastic time this summer (2013) for 4 extended to 5 nights as we liked it so much. The weather was awful but it did not matter. At first we thought we would only be two (live in Swiss) as nobody wanted to come. Soon my elderly partially handicapped parents reluctantly joined in and loved it. Then little by little we were full. Families with kids who dissapeared upstairs to play and did not want to go home. Hotpot a great success and the house is so well equipped that it was easy to cater for extended family. Lots to do in the surroundings and all the bio vegetables sold directly from the greenhouses fabulous. We would rent the house again summer or winter the two of us or more. Easy up to 8 people and two different families with two little kids slept on the loft in turns. I would rent it for us as a big family again but also for small seminars, team building etc

“Fantastic cabin”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2013

This is a fantastic cabin in a great location. It is not far from Selfoss which has some great supermarkets and places to eat. It is very central for exploring both Reykjavik, The Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle and the South Coast. The cabin is quiet, warm, spacious and cosy and has lots of equipment and home comforts. There are maps, books, Dvds, games, CDs and more. There is just about everything you could ask for in the kitchen and around the cabin. The owner, Robert is very friendly and helpful.

“Excellent cabin with fantastic view”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

We were 4 persons staying in the cabin for 4 nights. All were perfect and we enjoyed especially the hot pot at the terrace in the evenings. We also were very happy about the bird life around the house. There was a starling nest on the roof of the cabin. The cabin gave good possibilities to reach Reykjavik as well as Geysir and Gullfoss. We will happily be back.

“Entspannter Urlaub auf Island”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2013

Zusammenfassend: Super Haus in schöner zentraler Gegend. Tip: Wer fit ist kann auf den Burfell hoch. Es gibt keinen Weg, aber man läuft über Moos und Steine. Auch für Kinder, super aussicht, ca.2h bis oben.

“Serenity, Space and Central Location”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

The "cabin" is a beautiful and spacious home with a huge deck, large bedrooms and a well outfitted kitchen. Its location between Thingvellir and other sites like Kerid and Geysir was perfect, as was its nearness to the town of Selfoss and Eldhestar's Volcano Horses. The owner responded quickly to our inquiries, provided lots of information for local attractions and is clearly eager to make visitors feel welcome. Only wish we had spent more time here than in Reykjavic.

“Excellent home for our trip!”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

The Cedar Log Cabin was a great place for our family to call "home" for the 10 days we were in Iceland. Excellent location to many adventures in south Iceland -- a different direction everyday! We were 8 adults and one baby travelling together -- an adventure in itself! The kitchen was well organized and everything was provided for us to be able to create meals to share together around the large table in the Great Room.

“Relaxing and peaceful”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2013

The cottage is in a great location for exploring the golden circle area of Iceland and has everything you need. It is conveniently close to Selfoss for supermarket shopping but feels nicely secluded. We very much enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, especially at night to view the stars and when it snowed. The only criticism we have is that we would have preferred a double duvet for the double bed rather than 2 singles.

“Perfect Iceland Base”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2013

We'd been planning a northern lights trip for a family of four and destination was the main issue. We decided on Iceland as the boys are young and there seemed more activities for us to all do, plus it was a lot cheaper than Lapland. Next dilemma the accommodation, we wanted somewhere close enough to Reykjavic but far enough away from light pollution that should the fabled northern lights appear we wouldn't have to venture out. Cedar Lodge stood out and it proved the perfect base. Great location near to Selfoss and nestled away on the hills providing stunning all round views. The kids loved all the toys supplied and we loved the open plan layout, cleanliness and facilities provided. The cabin is lovely and warm and the hot tub with it's views down to the river is great - who needs a TV!! Alas the cloud cover during our 4 night stay prohibited any sightings of the northern lights but we take back many more memories. Geysir, Gulfoss and Pingvellir are all in easy distance of the cabin and worth the trip. We did the Elding whale trip from Reykjavic but only saw dolphins but they did alert us to the fact the herring migration had gone further north. This spurred a 6 hour round trip to Grundarfjorour to go on the Laki whale watching trip - instant success, around 90 killer whales in the fjord - now that makes any trip special. Would we go back to Iceland, absolutely yes and we would also go back to Cedar Log Cabin. Great house, great country and fantastic trip. Thanks to Robert for all his help on directions and the booking, a very friendly, helpful host!
