“Relaxing Couples' Weekend at Taos Retreat”
Our couples' weekend at Taos Retreat was absolutely wonderful! The location was perfect...part way between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. After our first full day of shopping around the Square and dinner in Taos, we relaxed under the stars in the hot tub back at the Taos Retreat. The second night we decided to stay in, play cards, and listen to music. We called a near by Italian restaurant, and the husbands picked up the food and wine. The house was beautiful, too...with Spanish architecture and 2 fireplaces (in the main living area and in the master bedroom). It was very spacious, and yet warm and cozy. There is gorgeous woodwork through out the home, as well.
“Just the right space and distance from skiing”
The house had everything we needed in space, comfort and the stuff we needed to move in for the week. We enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor fire on one cool night. The whole family fit at the table for dinner and around the living room to relax. While some of us went skiing daily the others relaxed at the house and played horse shoes. We were able to get to town, the Rio Grande and Toas Ski Valley quickly. When we left it was 2-1/2 hours back to the albuquerque airport to go back home. We did the drive at 7am on Saturday and drove the speed limit.
“Beautiful home and gracious people.”
This is a beautiful home the firewood was piled high when we arrived and the house was clean with lights on. They had a starter fire ready for us when we arrived. This home is in a great location (close to ski valley). The home is very comfortable with everything a person could need. Very well stocked with cookware and condiments. Although I have never met her in person Catherine was extremely gracious and provided us with information to make our stay easy and enjoyable. I love the fireplaces especially the one in the bedroom and the heated floors are amazing - wish I had them in my home. Phil the manager does an extremely good job managing the home and is extremely helpful if you need it. Phil even mailed us home some things our grandson left in the house. My daughter and son-in-law liked the hot tub outside. The view from the front of this house is amazing. Thanks for a Wonderful Christmas.
“An amazing getaway!”
What an amazing retreat! The home was absolutely beautiful. From the heated floors to the gorgeous fireplaces to the breathtaking snow covered mountain views--this place was fantastic. It was a family holiday to remember. Can't wait to come back and enjoy again!
My wife and I wanted to stay somewhere beautiful near Taos for a week in the fall to celebrate our 12 year wedding anniversary. When we found the "Taos Retreat" on-line we were impressed with the amenities, the location and the photos of the surrounding views. When we arrived we found it to be all that we hoped it would be and more. The views of the mountains from the large picture window and the courtyard area are amazing. The landscaping was beautiful and charming. Inside we found amazing detail in all the wood work and décor. We loved how cozy the crackling fires from the kiva fireplaces made us feel. Catherine sent a bottle of champagne to our door to have on our anniversary. What a great personal touch and attention to the details of our trip. The location was wonderful. We hiked down the trail across from the house to the babbling little rio seco that flowed out of the mountains. We drove to the Rio Grande river at the Jon Dunn bridge and my wife read her book under the golden cottonwoods while I tried fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout. Taos was only 15 or 20 minutes away, it was an easy drive to shopping and dining but we found we would rather be back at the solitude of our house, sipping wine in the hot tub admiring the views and listening to the pinon wood popping in the chiminea. Loved every minute of our stay at the Taos Retreat. It is lovely and we will be returning. Thank you for a wonderful experience Catherine!
“Very Beautiful relaxing place to stay.”
We had a wonderful time in this space. It is welcoming and well set up for a couple or a family. The owners have a very well thought out notebook with lots of suggestions for things to do around the area as well as games to play, a hot tub, binoculars for watching birds and other wildlife or looking at the stars at night. It is my personal opinion that New Mexico is one of those sacred places on Earth and if you are open and awake to "the spirit of the land" you will find this particular space, Taos retreat, will be an access point to the Divine.
“Taos House-the retreat for all seasons”
Even the week after the lifts at the Taos ski valley closed for the season, the Taos House was still the perfect get away. We were able to find snow for snowshoeing to Williams Lake for one day-hike, and a clear trail to the rim of the Rio Grande Gorge on another. Star viewing was spectacular...the sky was so clear constellations virtually blanketed overhead from horizon to horizon. I never tire of watching the mountains. They seem to change colors and shadows minute by minute. I look forward to more adventures in the near future.
“Perfect Taos Experience”
I don't usually leave reviews, but felt compelled to this time. The Taos Retreat is really perfect in everyway. It is exactly as advertised and pictured and the owners have thought of everything! From a coffee grinder to a blender in the kitchen to plenty of towels, the home offered the best quality in everything. It is beautifully decorated and the views are perfect Taos views. It also has excellent proximity to the Ski Valley. We will be back.
“An unparalleled experience at an amazing mountain getaway”
Natural beauty abounds in New Mexico but this home gives you an experience like no other. The morning sunrises, the sunset that paints the mountains purples, nights underneath the stars in a hot tub - this is the home to rent. It is spacious and has all the amenities you need including heated floors and huge windows for you to simply be in awe at the beauty that surrounds it. After skiing, it is a great place to unwind fully stocked with board games and a variety of Dvds to enjoy next to the fireplace. I cannot wait for my next visit!
The house was gorgeous and equipped with everything we needed- fun games (I enjoyed learning Catan, but witts and wagers takes the cake for group fun), a place to put our skis, and beautiful views to get lost in. You are minutes away from town so you can run in to get anything from groceries, to an extra pair of skis, to another extra bottle of wine. One gem of the place is the hot tub- excellent for relaxing after a hard day of skiiing and star gazing. We will definitely be back, I want to check out the walking trails from rim road once it gets a little warmer, and I hear there is some great river fun to be had!
