“It was very welcoming and homey experience.”

This is the second time we stayed at The Chalet. We just love the scenery and peacefulness of the mountains. The view does not compare to staying in a hotel. You can choose if you want to hike and explore this beautiful property or just lounge and swim by the pool. If you have the chance to explore, you must take a hike down to the waterfalls, it was absolutely beautiful there. Definitely a must see. We look forward to our next visit.

“A little slice of paradise!”

We had searched Trip advisor to find a perfect place to stay in Puerto Rico for our trip in June, 2013. We wanted something off the beaten path and not your run-of-the-mill all-inclusive Caribbean vacation like we had had in the past. The reviews on the El Yunque Chalet were incredible, so we knew we would not be disappointed. The house is darling and cozy with gorgeous views of the tropical forests and the ocean. We vacationed with another couple and and my husband and I stayed in the loft bedroom upstairs while they stayed in the downstairs bedroom. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are very clean (it could have used some modern updating, but that was just minor aesthetics.) There is no central air conditioning in the house, and the individual air conditioning in the upstairs room isn't the coldest, but we slept well and weren't uncomfortable. We honestly spent so much time outdoors that you hardly noticed the lack of central air in the house, and the tradewinds do keep the home pretty breezy. The coqui frogs sang us to sleep every night, but it was wonderful!. We started each morning with coffee and breakfast on the veranda, which was glorious. The views are amazing! The pool is wonderful, the stars at night are breath-taking, the hike down to the river and waterfalls was like something out of dream (we played for hours in the pools and falls without a single soul around)! The kitchen allows you to cook meals at your leisure, and there is a large table inside and outside on the veranda to give you a couple of options for dining. There are plenty of books and games to entertain you and there were loads of premium cable channels on the tv. There wasn't a oven when we stayed, but arthur, the owner, did say he was going to have one installed in the house. We made do without one, and there is a stove top and microwave for cooking. There is a washing machine and dryer at the home (for a nominal fee you can use them). We will be back! Great stay!
