“The most breathtaking place I have ever vacationed.”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2013

As you pull up the final climb and the house and mountains crest into view, you will not believe the beauty. This was my first NC mountain vacation and I hold the memory very near to heart. I can not recall a part of the Hilltop Hideaway that I did not like. The house can accomodate a few family groups but is beyond spacious, leaving a variety of places to tuck away and find some privacy. The sun rises facing the front porch and sets out back making it a perfect time to relax in the hammock and take it all in. The kids found Wooly Worms aplenty and me and my wife found a place to connect, bond and make memories that I will take with me forever. As you can tell I can't say enough about how great our experience was here. I can't wait to go back.

“Summer Perfection!”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. My family and I were lucky enough to go to this beautiful gem last July and it was simply divine! Most people think to go to the beaches in the summer, and I would have agreed prior to this trip, but now I'm a summer mountain convert! :) First of all, the house is so roomy and cozy for a big family...we were able to fit all 10 of us without any problem. Yes, the house is a bit of a trek to get to, (it is on top of a mountain afterall!) but once you are there, it is heavenly. The summer breeze was a perfect escape from the humidity that usually is the norm, and the stars at night were so unbelievable. We spent the days taking long walks, reading/napping in the hammock, doing yoga on the deck, and the kids were playing soccer in the yard. The nights were spent on the porch in rocking chairs with wine, laughter, and a wonderful hot tub to soak away the day. The owners were great to deal with and I would recommend this place to anyone. It's definitely the perfect place to relax and unwind if that's the kind of vacation you are looking for! Now, that being said I know there are a ton of things to do nearby from ziplining, hiking to even mining for gold but again, we didn't really want to leave once we got up to the house. Did I mention the views...Gorgeous! Can't wait to go back this summer! And, I'm not a huge snow/ski person but I imagine its a true winter wonderland in the colder months.

“Heaven, heavenly”

Spellbound, bountiful, serene, breathtaking, relaxing. All are words that we would use to quietly adjust to heaven on earth. The light snow fall early this morning was especially nice. The respite was too late in coming but if the delay meant a few days in enchantment then it was a wonderful delay. Thanks again for great memories once my friend. We will be back...again and again."
