“AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING!”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2015

We stayed at this wonderful house for about 7 nights. We had 2 adults and 4 children, ages 9-12. This house was as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The kitchen was fully equipped so we cooked frequently. The beds were very comfortable. The house faces into the forest so there was complete privacy. The owners were very responsive to anything we needed or any of our questions. If you are staying in the Carins area, this is definitely the place to stay!

Response from the owner Thank you Popcorn Family! It ws wonderful hosting you at Wanggulay Bali. We often get that comment that the photos accurately depict Wanggulay and it is far more breath-taking then in the photos. Its hard to comprehend the beauty of the view from the balconies into the rainforest treetops and down onto the river below - it's the wow moment for all our guests! We look forward to welcoming you back Kind regards Belinda Bet and Brett The Wanggulay Team

“Fantastic property and location”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2014

Wonderful property, great location and excellent service by the owners and staff, thoroughly recommend renting this property!

Response from the owner Thanks for your review! Our mission is to give you a "holiday of a lifetime" by going above and beyond to help you experience a unique stay in the rainforest. Warmly, the Wanggulay Team, Belinda, Brett and Bet.

“Awesome stay in the rainforest!”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

What an experience to stay in a rainforest. We have never experienced anything quite like it. The sound of the animals...frogs (?!?) at night was incredible. I even recorded it to remember as it sounded so surreal. Beautiful surroundings. We had a great dive from Port Douglas, enjoyed viewing Kuranda, and hiking up to the summit at Fitzroy Island. All were within an hour of the property. Close enough to attractions and sightseeing but far enough to be away from it all as well.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and highlighting your memorable experiences - the frog sounds seems to be a favourite with guest who find the crescendo then silence awe inspiring. The hiking around Stony Creek and Barron River Gorge is a must if you enjoy terrific views of the surrounding area and Coral Sea. Great to read you enjoyed the hike on Fitzroy Island to the lighthouse. Lots to explore in the region and we look forward to welcoming you back to Wanggulay and experiencing our new property Wanggulay Too Treetops. Warmly, The Wanggulay Team, Belinda, Brett, Bet

“An enchanting forest haven”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

Wanggulay is an enchanting place which is warm, welcoming and filled with pleasant surprises. You enter another world when you visit; sounds of the rainforest, the rush of the Barron River and the songs of birds in the treetops allow you to relax and find comfort and stimulation. The light is dappled through the trees above and the moon and the stars are clear, especially sitting in the warm pool looking out into the forest. Great food is easy from this kitchen and there is a day-bed designed for reading and stretching out. The media room is well equipped but we found no need to seek stimulation form outside this haven. We recommend it highly to you.

Response from the owner You really capture the essence of Wanggulay in your review. Thank you! To feel fully immersed in the rainforest is a truly unique experience and to do so in luxury and comfort entices many of our interstate and overseas guests. You highlight a big problem though. Once you have fully arrived at Wanggulay and shed your old life with it's stresses and stains you can't leave! We look forward to welcoming you back to Wanggulay and experiencing our other property Wanggulay Too Treetops with it's outdoor bathroom and deck in the treetops to relive those moments. Warmly, the Wanggulay Team, Belinda, Brett and Bet

“paradise above the gorge”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2014

this is the second time we have stayed here, this year we bought our families with us! The tranquil setting above the gorge is just amazing and the day beds on both the upper and lower deck were well occupied through out our whole stay! The infinity pool is just divine for a quick dip or a laze on the shallow step (spa bubbles were an added bonus!) The house easily accommodated 4 families with enough room to each have space if need be (3 bathrooms is a major plus). It is also so close and central to so many things-the sky rail is only a 5 min drive away, Port Douglas about 40/50 min drive, Hartley's croc park (highly recommended!)is 30 mins away and there is a local shopping centre about 10 mins away for all the supplies you need. Last year my partner and I came by ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed the main bedroom which has stunning views and a double spa bath!. The owners are very nice and friendly-couldn't rate any higher!

Response from the owner Hi Carolyn It was delight having your larger group back to Wanggulay. Having 4 bedrooms and and a pullout sofa bed in the media room has meant we can cater for the larger family groups. We even have a cot and high chair for our younger travellers. Your recommendations on best places to go are now incorporated in our eBook free to everyone that wants one from our website www.wanggulay.com Have a great day and we look forward to welcoming you back again someday. kind regards, Belinda Bet and Brett

“Perfect!!!”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2014

Stunning home with modern amenities, refreshing pool with amazing views of the surrounding rainforest. Great BBQ and entertaining deck. Wanggulay was the perfect choice for a mini family getaway!

Response from the owner Hi Roslyn, Thank you for your review. We have just completed a complete garden makeover around Wanggulay but nothing beats the natural beauty of the rainforest and that why we built Wanggulay into the treetops. We look forward to welcoming you back again kind regards Belinda, Bet and Brett

“Relaxing in Luxury and comfort”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2013

The property is a great place to kick back and relax while enjoying the rainforest surroundings but with so much to do less than and hour away you can decide to get out and explore or just make the most of the comfortable luxury that is Wanggulay and spend time on the verandas with a book and nothing but time.

Response from the owner Hi Danny Thanks so much for your review. We compiled the eBook to help all our guests get the most out of the local attractions and Wanggulay itself. I think its a great testimony to the architectural team, interior designers and landscapers that our guests never seem to want to leave Wanggulay even though they have made plans to see so much. Our favourite is the daybed and relaxing by the pool with a good book like you! kind regards Belinda, Bet and Brett

“Best of both worlds; luxurious hidden getaway in a rainforest- b”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2013

It was a lovely experience staying at Wanggulay. The booking process was seamless, we were all well informed throughout the process. Your responses were always fast and helpful. The actual place was beautiful. The amenities and extras (aircon, heated pool, juicer and foxtel) were very appreciated. Everything about the place was brilliant, even the location! A massive thank you from all of us. :)

Response from the owner Dear Yin Thank you so much for the response. We started out as holiday rental users ourselves and the experience of feeling just what a great place can do for your well being made us closely examine the best way too set up and run Wanggulay. Thank you for your comments it reaffirms that we are on the right track but does not stop us from making sure as best we can that every guest group has a great experience. kind regards Belinda, Bet and Brett

“Secluded, convenient, fully fitted out”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2013

The house was secluded within the rainforest but was only 10-20 minutes away from all the main Cairns attractions. The house was fitted out with everything that our family could have wished for. The two large decks, daybeds and heated pool were family favourites. We'll be back.

Response from the owner Thank you for the review. We love how well located Wanggulay is too. To help guests we recently wrote an eBook that details all the popular nearby attractions and how to get there. We are happy to pass on this eBook to all that request one, it's also got great recommendations on restaurants and markets. Thanks also to all the guests, like yourselves, for detailing what they love. We include all these attractions in the book. The poolside is a favorite of ours, we have just finished the new pool deck. Our daughter is a fan of the day bed for reading and relaxing. We look forward to welcoming you back. kind regards Bet Belinda and Brett The Wanggulay team

“luxurious rainforest retreat at Wanggulay”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2013

Wanggulay was the perfect place to relax and recharge. A beautiful house of wood and Balinese furnishings, wide verandahs and modern amenities, nestled in the rainforest on the Barron River. Bush walks, great views and swimming holes are walking distance from the house. Further afield, we went to markets, beaches, galleries and cafes although it's hard to leave the daybed and spa pool back at the house. I would highly recommend Wanggulay for family gatherings, group get-aways and luxury retreats.

Response from the owner Hi Nicola, It was an absolute pleasure having you stay at Wanggulay, we look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future, Belinda, Bet and Brett Your Wanggulay team
