“A Perfect Getaway Home!!!”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2014

You could feel the warmth as soon as you walk in the door. Absolutely charming home with breathtaking views and cozy decor (I could only imagine what it looks like in the summer). The photos do not do this home justice. The rooms are well-decorated, well-maintained and clean. The wood-burning stove/fireplace offers a cozy and warm welcome upon return from the slopes. The outdoor hot tub situated on the 2nd of the 3 tier deck was relaxing after a long day of skiing and tubing at Windham. We also went snowmobiling near Hunter Mountain. We had a barbeque one evening utilizing the propane grill on the deck. We rented out the entire home and there were six adults and three teenagers, as well as my small dog and there was still plenty of room. There is wi-fi throughout the home so the kids were really happy. Believe it or not, the kids actually played board games with us which are stored in a closet in the living room. The kitchen is fully loaded. It has spices, pots, pans, bowls, dishes, etc,, all the amenities you need to cook...just bring the food! The hosts, Linda and Hugh are so pleasant. They are always available to answer any and all questions, which was important and made us feel at ease. Our experience here was very enjoyable. This place certainly exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much Linda and Hugh!

“Our second home!”

Tumblin' Falls has been our home away from home since we first discovered it in the mid-1990s. There's no better place to kick back and enjoy the mountain air, the beautiful waterfall, the company of wonderful people, and the warm feeling of a small town. The house is beautifully nostalgic and comfortable, and it's located within range of destinations like the Windham ski area, and the Cobleskill caves, Secret Caverns and Howe Caverns. We love Linda and Hugh, who greet us with "welcome home" each time we arrive. There is no better place to leave your cares behind, and embrace the beauty of the Catskills!

“Charming, Restful Waterfall, Great Hosts!”

Tumblin Falls House is a great place to stay if you're in the Catskills. The house, with a beautiful wraparound porch, is set back from the road and faces a gorgeous waterfall and stream. There are lots of outdoor dining spots on the multiple decks and they even have a hot tub for the guests. Our favorite room is the Tumblin' Falls Suite, which overlooks the waterfall. It has it's own private bath and sitting room along with a king bed. I don't know what year this house was built, but you will love the authenticity of the wooden floors, metal door knobs, narrow stairways, and large old fashioned kitchen. Working with the owners, Linda & Hugh, was a pleasure. They are very gracious hosts. We will definitely be back to Tumblin' Falls House!! P.S. We're not skiers, but there are wonderful mountains nearby and some very nice golf courses. And be sure to have dinner at Bavarian Manor... yummy!!

“Peaceful and quite - shhh don't tell anyone please!”

Back in august, I needed to get away from the City for a weekend badly. I wanted a nice place near water. Long Island came to mind. My spouse did a little internet research and came up with something in a different direction, Tumblin Falls in upstate New York. Once you turn off the main road you are in a different world. Trees all around. The roar of the waterfall. The stream. All adjacent to your B & B. It immediately felt like my home away from home. No doubt this was the result of meeting hosts Hugh and Linda Curry. They are warm, welcoming and gracious and will do whatever they can to make your visit wonderful. Our room overlooked the falls. Nothing was more delightful than hearing those falls through the night. I delighted in sitting on the porch during the day surrounded by nature and nature's beauty. The hummingbirds came by to sip at the porch feeder. Chipmunks scampered through the foliage. A Blue heron swooped in to land at the falls. The mornings started out with a delightful brunch style breakfast on the porch: scrambled eggs with basil, pancakes, elderberry syrup, turkey sausage, OJ, coffee etc. Lots of etc. We took our bikes with us and biked around the area. We visited some really nice wineries in the area as well as the town of Catskill. Leave your City "attitude" at home or you will not have a good time. Just throttle back to "idle". This is not the Hilton, folks, this is a B & B in the northern Catskills but everything is neat, clean, and tidy. This isn't a happening scene. For excitement you can take a dip in the crystal clear, cold pool at the falls. Or visit the hot tub on the deck in the evening. Or sit by the fire and watch the stars. Or hike. Or do all the other things you an't do in the City. Our first visit was followed by two more in the next two months. And each time was better than the one before. We now call Tumblin Falls our Hudson Valley weekend home, without the maintenance headaches or the mortgage!

“Wonderful winter getaway (but sure to be great year-round)”

We recently stayed at Tumblin Falls House for a family ski trip. The Tumblin Falls House was incredibly charming, only to be surpassed by the charm of the proprietors Linda and Hugh. This B&B; provided the perfect mix of open space, and private nooks, to accommodate our group of 7 (3 adults, 4 children). Plenty of bedrooms meant everyone had a place to retreat to, but the big open living space meant we could all be together for games, relaxing by the fire, whatever we were in the mood for. The weekend was planned for skiing - Linda and Hugh sent us off each morning with a delicious breakfast, and then after a day of skiing, we came back for rest and relaxation. Warming up by the wood burning stove and unwinding our muscles in the hot tub with the babbling brook/waterfall as our background music were perfect ways to end our days. One night we ordered dinner in, one night we cooked our own (their fully stocked kitchen plus a quick grocery run and we had all we needed, we even used their BBQ grill on the back deck) and one night we dined out at a local restaurant - so there's options no matter what your mood or crowd calls for. If you're looking for a place that accommodates a small group, this is perfect. Our families had much more fun because of the "communal" living that Tumblin Falls House provided over individual hotel rooms, but we all had more personal space to retreat to than if we had rented a typical ski house. While we went for the skiing, the area is truly "all season" - as the area has just as much to do in the summer (and we're dying to come back and swim at the base of the water fall - Hugh assures us there's nothing quite like it!) Linda and Hugh incredibly helpful and accommodating - even before we arrived, offering suggestions, recommendations and tips to make our trip easy and carefree - we look forward to another visit.

“Wonderful multi-family accommodations close to Windham.”

We spent New Year's at Tumblin' Falls House with another family and truly enjoyed every minute we spent there. The owners were extremely friendly and attentive but also gave us the ability to gather in their living areas, making it very comfortable for both families to gather together. The breakfasts were delicious and the hot tub and wood stove were wonderful after each day of skiing. We hope we have the opportunity to return soon!
