“Quality family time”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2017

My family had a wonderful time at this beach front house. We had our own section of beach to sit and relax on or play in the water. Our family dog loved it as well. It was a pleasure to wake up every morning to the beautiful view and drink our morning cup of coffee looking for Dolphins, which we often saw. The house came with a golf cart which we used to explore the island looking for Gopher Tortoise that live on the southern side of the island. We also enjoyed eating dinner out, choosing from one of the four restaurants; our favorite was Barnacle Phil's. Overall, it was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had and we will definitely be back to The Pelican Brief. Thanks James!

Response from the owner It's always fun to be a part in helping a nice family like these folks have a great family vacation.

“The Perfect Relaxing Vacation!!!”

Reviewed 4 May 2014

This house was perfect for our family of 5. My husband and son fished off the beach and off the private dock. We also brought our own jet skis and were able to keep them at the dock. My girls and I loved being able to relax and sunbath on our private beach. The house had everything we could possibly need for our week long stay. All the amenities of home. The views were breathtaking, and we loved waking up to a beautiful sunrise right in front. This is the perfect place to get away from everyday life.

“Fantastic family vacation!”

We have traveled to several countries, all through Florida, the Bahamas and many other places throughout the us, and I have to say that Pelican Brief in N. Captiva Island was definitely one of our favorite places! Its very relaxing, laid back, and beautiful! James and Mirna were wonderful hosts, showing us around as soon as we arrived, and were extremely friendly and helpful. We traveled with 4 adults and 3 kids under the age of 7. Everything was perfect. We traveled around the island in our golf cart, spent time on the beautiful beaches all the island, and spent a lot of time just walking out the back door, playing in the water and soaking up the sun! Right in the water at our house, the kids had a fantastic time! On a daily basis, they found starfish, conch, crabs, fish, they saw sting rays, sea turtles, and all of us were able to swim within 5 feet of the dolphins every day! We caught about 30 blue crab right off the dock in about an hour, and the sunsets were absolutely breath taking! We enjoyed the time we spent in this beautiful place and hated to go back home. This is definitely a place we would like to return to again some day, and have recommended it to several people. All you really need is a bathing suit, some shorts and sundresses, a toothbrush and a pair of flip flops...thats it, seriously. It's perfect.

“Serenity Found”

This house was amazing and the view is breathtaking. It was complete comfort and relaxation for a week. Since it's a home it has a comfort level a hotel can never compete with. My husband caught fresh fish right from the dock that we grilled for dinner. And I simply cannot put into words the sunset from the widow's walk. I can't wait to come back!
