“The Place for a Family Holiday”

Reviewed 14 Feb 2014

This "holm" offers something that is so hard to find in a rental--space! The large kitchen allows group cooking, the large living spaces rooms for families to break up into different interest groups, the sleeping arrangements are spacious and flexible. Most importantly, the spacious views out the two floors of picture window add serenity for the whole group. We have already reserved for next year!

“I would go there again in a heartbeat!”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2014

I was so happy to arrive at Brannholm as a retreat from the Gulf Coast Texas autumn heat! Although the photographs of the property were accurate as to appearance and amenities, they didn't do justice to the utter spaciousness of the area. As a retired senior citizen, I particularly enjoyed the birdwatching, aided by binoculars and an extensive guide book that were provided for my use. I found it therapeutic just to sit in the comfortable chairs and to enjoy the amazing view of the lake; or to sit on the deck at night and observe the myriad stars. It was a real reconnection with nature for me. When I did venture into Lincoln City, there were all kinds of shops and wonderful little restaurants serving delicious, reasonably-priced meals! I used the savings there to shop at the extensive antiques Mall and found some gifts for family members--not an easy task. I should mention that the owners provided an information notebook that included menus from local restaurants; and many of them offer delivery. Because of that, I was able to have a Sushi meal delivered my last evening there (something I cannot do in my own Texas neighborhood!) While I didn't go to the ocean, which is just minutes away, I do plan to visit it on my next stay. Had I lived closer, I would have been very comfortable bringing my pet. Speaking of comfort, the beds were quite comfortable and I slept very well. I have recommended staying there to all my family and friends. It could be used for so many different occasions! The clean, well-planned 70's ambience is something I really appreciated, too. In short, I can't wait to return and will definitely rebook in the future! Thank you for a marvelous experience!!! It was just what I needed in every way!

“Beautiful views, cozy mid-century style”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2014

My husband and I stayed at Brannholm in December. I'm Scandinavian so I love the name. It was an amazing space. It manages to be both cool mid-century modern style, but warm and cozy too. There are fantastic views from the open plan living and dinning room as well as the master bedroom and a shared bedroom. Anyone who is an interior design fan will love it. They put great details into the house, the Pendleton blankets, the cute side tables, and the bird feeders. This is not a rental where someone dumped their old furniture and mattresses; all the furniture seemed new, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was great and would be easy for a group to cook in. We also used he great rock wall gas fireplace which makes the living room nice and cozy. (They left clear instructions on how to use everything! Thanks for that!) It is very spacious and the rooms are well laid out. We could have had huge group out there and not been on top of each other. I can't believe how many photos I took of the lake at sunset. We took advantage of their kayaks and the warm-ish weather to paddle on the lake. So nice of them to have kayaks there for us to use. They also had a closet with board games for renters. That was just such a thoughtful detail. We actually played a board game in the evening. It was a short drive (you could bike it if you brought a bike along) to the beach and to cute little Lincoln City, and an outlet mall (if that's your thing). We collected agates on the beach and saw sea lions. There is an enclosed area for pets and they allow pets which I will recommend to friends with dogs. You could have an older person there and they could stay on the upper level and never have to use stairs. We flew into Portland and it was an easy and pretty drive to the house. We will definitely return, perhaps with a big group. I'd love to be there in the summer. I really can't think of a thing I'd change.
