“Our Month long island getaway....just the pups and my hubby and me!”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2017

This spacious island home was the perfect getaway location. A few steps from the beach, a golf cart ride away from the pool and chikee hut bar. Right next to the island airstrip so we got to watch the coming and goings of the local pilots. Afternoons spent relaxing on the beach with the beach chairs provided by the homeowner. The most laid back vacation I have ever had. We enjoyed the atmosphere at Barnacles (and the ice cream). Kayaking was also a new experience. Dolphins were plentiful and I even saw a manatee. Though the island is small, i managed to walk 4-5 miles most days. I did ask Captiva to consider upgrading the linens and cookware / bakeware in the unit. I did not feel they met the standard of the rental program.

“Ready to go back!”

This was a well kept place with close proximity to the beach and awesome sunsets! The hot tub was a nice bonus and the screened in porch was a nice place to enjoy the evenings. The island is great!

“Great Property”

The Residence was excellent, recently remodeled and upgraded. The cost of renting thru the "Club" is excessive.(3 Times the rental rate)

We just stayed here and it was one of our favorite trips. I've just booked it again for November . The staff were great and very friendly. I also wanted to mention that it's dog friendly. We had are two goldens with us and they loved the beaches

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to respond. We are glad you had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house! We look forward to seeing you in November! Thank you, The North Captiva Island Club Team

“North Captiva Retreat”

First, what a great time we had. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and everyone we had contact with from NCIC was great. We had a little trouble with our golf cart and it was taken care of pretty much right away. The house was about 50 steps from the gulf side of the island and was very clean and comfortable. It was nice to sit on the screened porch during the one rain storm we had and watch it roll in off the gulf. The kids had a great time, we rented a boat and island hopped one day to Cayo Casto and Cabbage Key(truly is a great burger), worth the stop. You need to get your groceries and drinks ordered and brought over as there is little to get on the island, Publix or Winn Dixie are the spots I'd recommend.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to respond. We are glad you had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house! Great recommendation on renting a boat and visiting Cabbage Key! Our surrounding barrier island neighbors are wonderful for a day trip visit! We hope to see you again soon! Thank you, The North Captiva Island Club Team

“nice sunset view”

North Captiva Island is a really unique island. This house has be mostly renovated and very nice. We enjoyed our stay with a few caveats and would consider renting again. We liked the:Nice view, updated kitchen and master bath, screened porch, quiet location and golf cart availability suggested recommendations: need better bed linens, (cheap given what affluent clients are used to at home), comfortable pillows, needs new pots and pans, utensils, and needed some bug spray on hand those occasional bugs in the kitchen/bath.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the home and the island and hope to see you again soon! Thank you, The North Captiva Island Club Team

“Would love to make this our home away from home...”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2014

This cottage was overall perfect for what we needed. While the listing says it's new, there are a few maintenance issues that need addressing to keep it that way, won't waste time mentioning here, as they are easy fixes. No dealbreakers, just basic stuff that needs to be kept up with. I have submitted a list of these fixes to Ncic as well. The house is very comfortable. It's actually exactly what we would like to have if we could move there (and we're seriously considering it). The only real cons: hot water doesn't last long - shower heads in the Master are old school, high flow, but easily replaceable with efficient ones, extending the hot water. Truth be told, if it's 80 or warmer you don't want too hot a shower, but at 64, it's nice to knock the chill off. You also can't fill up the jacuzzi tub for lack of enough hot water to even cover the jets. The outdoor hot tub lost about 1/3 of the water over the course of our week - water level was barely above jets when we left. You'll be sweeping continually, but it's a beach house, just plan on it. Kitchen utensils pretty worn, but functional. we cooked, so if you're eating out the whole time, it's not an issue. if you do cook, plan on 2 trips to Publix, one for the initial list, then one for stuff you forgot - the "resort store" - pretty disappointing. If someone watches TV late, you'll hear it in the Br's. But in an open space with tile floors it's unavoidable, just keep it in mind. Furniture needs cleaning (it is a rental, being realistic). Beds are decent, sheets not so much. Pros: Triple sliders doubling the living space - awesome Master Bath - awesome Kitchen - perfect for what we needed Had a Washer/Dryer - awesome Hearing the waves on the shore from the house - awesome Easy to keep clean (with 2 kids and a sandy dog) - awesome Interior decor tasteful - loved the lantern in LR! Gas grill downstairs - awesome Being on the airstrip - very cool

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to review! We are working on the list you submitted. Thank you for also taking the time to do that, it helps us improve as we strive to provide an excellent experience. We are glad you enjoyed your time and hope to see you again soon as returning visitors or maybe residents! Thank you, The North Captiva Island Club Team

“The "I'll be back" island”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2014

Truly, North Captiva has captivated my family and I! We will be going back soon. Travelled there for the week between Christmas and New Year and had the most amazing family holiday. Real quality time, no hassles, no stress. The Gulf Breeze cottage was great. Plenty big enough, updated, clean and well appointed. What we liked most was its location on the island; off the beaten track and next to the tiny runway. Watching the biplanes take off and land was a real treat. Beaches pristine. Vacation club amenties great. If you like wildlife, nature & sunsets on the beach, this is the place for you. If you like being attached to your TV, laptop or phone, stay on the mainland! There is a TV, landline and access to a router, but when in Captiva, who would want to plug into that, when you can plug into the beautiful island!

Response from the manager Dee, Thank you for taking the time to review. You are so right, time at the island is the perfect time to "unplug". We are glad to hear you and your family had a great holiday on the island. Watching the planes land and take off is always a treat to watch. We hope to see you again soon!. This is a very nice cabin. The owners have done some beautiful up grades since the photos . What still could use improvement are the cookware , the bakeware , kitchen utensils and the linen feels cheap and worn. The furniture is on its last leg. Otherwise the place is clean and well laid out.i would return but I would have to bring some kitchenware. p.S. a little landscaping would be nice!

“Beautiful renovated cottage”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2013

We loved this cottage! It is quite misleading from the outside as it looks old and worn but inside it is completely renovated with modern appliances, nice colors/decor, big size bedrooms, open living room space with lots of natural lighting, huge master bathroom and a spa on the deck. Within walking distance to the beach. Loved the golf carts as medium of transportation too!
