“Home away from home!”
I've never stayed anywhere that made me feel more at home than this place. This home had everything you need from soft towels to clean pots and pans! The environment was very pet friendly. The train passing in the morning and the afternoon was just the icing on the cake! Though we did not have much snow, it was still a wonderful trip and can't wait to get back.
We booked Jack and Linda's house for the whole month of July. We needed a place with lots of room because we wanted our 2 daughters and their families to come join us in Durango. We all love the Durango area!! The house was perfect for all of us. It is in a perfect location for enjoying Durango and many other attractions. An additional treat was being able to run wave at the train when we heard it coming near. Jack and Linda were very kind and accommodating. They were quick to offer suggestions of things we might like to do. When we returned home our friends asked us what we did for a whole month. There are so many things to do it was impossible to do everything. With mixed emotions we packed up to come back home knowing we would return to Durango when we knew it was time to return.
Response from the owner Loved having you here and love having people enjoy the Durango area as we do. We enjoy giving renters ideas as to what and how to see the many breathtaking views we have here. Just another day in Paradise. So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and hope to have you come again. Thank you for the review, Linda & Jack Murray
“Perfect mountain retreat!”
The condo was the best-stocked rental we have ever stayed in. Perfect place to rest and relax for our party of 5. We enjoyed the outdoor space as much as the indoor. Hummingbirds and deer coming to visit, the train whistle announcing its arrival just above the condo. The owners were very attentive to our needs before we arrived and offered lots of ideas for activities in the surrounding area. We would definitely rent here again!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for the lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. We love to enhance our renters vacation by sharing our favorite things to do. Hope you will return again soon. Linda & Jack
“Great place to stay”
This is the second summer we stayed for a week's vacation in the condo. Both times we had a really great time-the condo is very convenient to both Purgatory resort and Durango and on the way to Silverton. Our granddaughters enjoyed seeing the Durango-Silverton train go by at the back of the condo and putting coins on the track for the train to flatten. We were a party of 6 and had plenty of room. The location was very quiet both times. We visited Mesa Verde, took the train to Silverton, ate at James Ranch (which is very close by and worth visiting and eating their delicious hamburgers), did a jeep tour of La Plata Canyon and Kennebec Pass and a raft trip on the lower Animas. All of these activities were easily accessible from the condo. Linda and Jack, the owners, made us feel very much at home and live about 10 minutes away. We are planning on returning next year.
“This is a great property in a great location.”
The property was in a great location. It had everything we needed for bed, bath and kitchen. There was plenty of room for the ten people in our party. The owners were very helpful and checked to make sure we had anything we needed. It was quiet except when the train would go by, but that was fun to watch.
“Comfortable, roomy retreat with plenty of privacy for extended family”
My boyfriend and I met my parents for a long weekend and stayed at the Pines. The home is very roomy and comfortable. It was a little chilly to enjoy the patio, but we did grill out and enjoyed our meals indoors. We took our dogs for twice daily walks along the railroad tracks behind the property. The master suite and second floor bathroom right outside the second bedroom provided sufficient privacy. The dining area/ family room was nice and spacious: comfortable for reading, conversation or watching TV. The location midway between Durango and Purgatory was perfect. We found The Pines through VRBO and would definitely look to stay there next time we make it to Durango. Linda is a great hostess and made sure that we had everything we needed for our weekend!
“A wonderful family trip”
We absolutely loved our week in Durango and stay at The Pines. Linda was so helpful and accommodating and the spacious home was perfect for our family reunion. Loved having the famous Silverton train behind the place! As first time visitors to Durango we enjoyed very much having Linda's advice on what to do in the area. Hiking, ATV trip, float trip, horseback riding all in the most beautiful mountain setting imaginable. Evenings on the balcony enjoying the stars...what could be better! We will be back for another stay at The Pines!
“Great location and all the needed essentials were in stock”
We really enjoyed our stay and Linda and Jack attended to all our needs while we stayed there for the 5 days. The location was really convenient with a short drive to Purgatory and also a short drive into town. We would definitely go back if the opportunity arose.
“Well stocked, comfortable rental property was perfect for our extended families stay in Durango.”
This condo has comfortable beds, plenty of room to sit comfortably and a spacious patio with a clean grill. The narrow gage railroad runs behind the property, which our little ones enjoyed running up to see daily. The kitchen is well stocked, better than my own kitchen. Plenty of room for 2-3 cars to park. There is even a garage with an opener. Be aware that the bedroom with two queens is on the third floor with no bathroom. There are two bathrooms on the second floor as well as a half on the first floor. The bathrooms were well stocked too. Our only complaint was the bedrooms were a bit warm in the early night.
“Home away from Home”
We felt right at home at The Pines. Linda met us upon arrival and warmly welcomed us to 'our home away from home'. Notes on the fridge and the comprehensive package that we received prior to our arrival really helped us settle in comfortably. Every amenity was available- gas BBQ, fireplace, laundry facilities, games, tourist brochures and food basics in the pantry. We enjoyed staying in a rural setting with a quick highway drive to Durango. The biggest plus is that the Durango Silverton steam train runs at the back of the property. My husband, who is a model train hobbyist, was thrilled. He always had the movie camera ready to capture the daily runs. Great place with great value!
