“Perfect French Flat to Share!”

Reviewed 9 May 2014

Four of us (two couples) shared Barney's lovely Beaucaire flat over Easter Holiday. It was the perfect size for 4 adults and you felt immediately at home. Barney was very responsive during the booking process and easily answered all of our questions. For checking-in, his management agents met us very promptly at the flat. They were warm and welcoming and accommodated our late arrival due to train delays. His agent welcomed us with a nice bottle of rose from the local region too. We bought groceries at the local grocery store and markets and made breakfast in the kitchen before heading out for the day and exploring the avignon region. The kitchen had everything you could want including some leftover sundries such as oil, salt, and pepper, which was super helpful. You'll also find a wine opener, which is handy after you buy wine from the local region. There were plenty of plates, drinking glasses, mugs, wine glasses, flatware, etc. The space is brightly decorated and clean. We enjoyed breakfast and happy hour / tea time on the open terrace, which was just gorgeous on the sunny days. For those who are curious, the bathroom shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure, even with 4 adults cycling through. We did not use the washing machine but there is one should you need it. For those who are looking to relax, the flat is pretty quiet. When you open the shutters and windows, you get lots of natural lighting and a fresh breeze. Minor areas of improvement: - Softer and bigger towels would have been nice. - Basic hand-washing soap for each bathroom sink would have been nice. We absolutely would recommend Barney's flat and Beaucaire as a base for exploring this region. We were able to visit the Pont du Gard, to do some wine tasting in Chateauneuf du Pape, to explore the beautiful French market and Van Gogh exhibits in arles all in about 20-50 mins easy drive. I hope you will enjoy your stay here as much as we did.

“Comfy apartment in charming rustic town far from the maddening c”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2013

We stayed in Barney and Madeline's place in Beaucaire for one week. Our objective was to visit and cycle the Provence area and Beaucaire was a great base for us. Beaucaire is a lovely ancient and authentic cobbled stone street town nestled along the Rhone and a bit off the beaten tourist path. It is a very well kept walking town with several excellent restaurants, historic sites and various festivals and family oriented activities. Twice a week there is an excellent outdoor market. Within 1/2 drive you are in Nimes, Avignon, St. Remy and many other great must see destinations. The apartment was very comfortable with good natural sunlight, a good working kitchen and attractive art. The outdoor terrace facing the river was a real treat. Communication with the hosts and the meet and greet people was very smooth and effortless. In fact our greeter was very patient with us as our GPS malfunctioned and we were a bit lost upon arriving in Beaucaire. We. highly recommend this flat.

“Appartement absolument incroyable de tous les points de vue”

Très vaste appartement avec 3 chambres pour 6 personnes, parfaitement équipé pour la cuisine, d'une propreté absolue, excellemment situé au coeur de Beaucaire. Accueil remarquable par les agents, remise des clefs, explications de fonctionnement... Sympathiques et très ponctuels

“Interesting times in Provence”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2013

Communication with the owners was pleasant, clear, and prompt. The apartment met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations which is surprising considering the number of times the reality does not measure up to the promotional photos. The apartment was clean, comfortable and very well equiped. Beaucaire is in the middle of the "Golden Triangle" of avignon, Nimes, and arles. Travel within this area was easy, cheap and quick by bus. Although we had a car the bus was better considering the parking issues in all of the towns and villages in Provence. Parking at the apartment however is free and easy within a two minute walk. This apartment gave us a great base to recover after intensive bouts of sight seeing.

“Great location in a great area.”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2012

The main reason we booked this accommodation for 3 couples was the location. Within a very short drive we were able to visit Nimes, Arles, Avignon, Uzes, Les Baux de Province, Aix-en-Provence, St. Remy de Provence, etc. The fact that the apartment was also a comfortable home away from home was just a great advantage. We were there for one week but could easily have stayed for two. I miss having an evening glass of wine on that deck! We would return without hesitation.

“Very nice apartment close to restaurants”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

We enjoyed our stay in Beaucaire, thanks to a nice apartment and welcoming property managers. The apartment is fully equipped, updated, and tastefully decorated. The high ceilings, large windows and oversized terrace make for a nice temperatures during the high season. Having 2 Wc's a washer and DW make life comfortable. It was also nice to have access to a phone, computer, wifi, french an skytv to get cuaght up. We would like to stay again

“Recommandable flat in the middle of the Provence”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2012

Contact persons in Beaucaire welcomed us We enjoyed the home for two weeks - and the washing machine and dishwasher were perfect. Location place was in the middle of the Provence and thereof ideal for trips in the region. The comfort of the flat was high (incl. Sky for watching the Olympic Games!). Trailer park opposite to the flat was too noisy (Karaoke till late in the evening). Sleeping with open windows is impossible (the wall on the other side of the street creates a noise funnel).

Response from the owner Just for clarification - there is no trailer park. However during the summer there are many festivals with gypsy music that often go until the early hours.

“We had a wonderful time staying in Beaucaire.”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2012

Jack and I thought the flat had lots of character - very french. It had three nice sized bedrooms and everything you need for an economical self sufficient holiday. Situated in a perfect location in Beaucaire. The area offers so many tourist attractions and Beaucaire is close to convenient transport to visit it all. The highlight of the holiday was the festivals they held in the Beaucaire town centre made so memorable by the friendly town people. I have told all my friends about the accommodation and certainly hope to visit again.

“Great flat situated in an interesting area”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2012

The three bedroom apartment had everything we needed: French and British TV service, fast Internet (wifi and ethernet), well-equipped kitchen. And the terrace is great - lots of shade in the late afternoon when it's otherwise hot. The only thing we noticed, probably because have two babies that crawl, was that the floors weren't very clean. (Maybe because they let us check-in by noon, the local caretakers didn't have time?) Otherwise, the flat was clean and the management was very good to deal with. Other positives: it's a very good location: Near Les Baux-en-Provence. And not far from arles, Nîmes and avignon. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommended it.

“A centrally located rental that was welcoming and well appointed”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2012

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment in Beaucaire. We found the kitchen very well appointed, the shower and washroom facilities were more than adequate. Parking across the street was convenient. The computer / phone was a huge plus after spending 5 weeks in a small village with limited WiFi and internet. The young couple that welcomed us did a great job of having the apartment clean on our arrival. They were more than helpful in getting us settled in. Both Beaucaire and Tarascon are very interesting places and well located for our visits to avignon, Nimes, Arles and L'Isle sur la Sorgue. The brochures left behind by others were certainly helpful. Our only regret was that we had not booked more time in this place.
