“A Dream Getaway Place”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2014

The drive may be a little daunting the first time up the mountain, but after that it is a breeze and so so well worth it! We arrived at almost dark and in the rain & the house was perfect. Really clean, modern, well eqipped, beautiful decks & terraces, lovely pool and a fantastic sunset view. We loved it! The space and furniture, closets and bathrooms all excellent. The master bath has great views to the Pacific. Everything worked like it should. The kitchen was well equipped & we were able to easily cook dinner every night. We grilled out on the Weber grill a couple of times by the pool. The local is great. Lots of views, nice beaches down the mountain, hiking & activities, grocery nearby. The neighbor was accessible for questions per owners instructions & pool cleaned daily. The house itself has tons of scenic vistas through windows, decks plentiful for hanging out & the view was first rate. Wireless worked fine. All as listed in details but better! We cant wait to go back.

“What a value.”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2014

As a long-time resident of the Southern Zone of Costa Rica and a business owner, I am often asked for advice about properties to rent. I consider this to be a large responsibility and think carefully before recommending any property. I can say with total candor that Tierra Verde is an authentic value and an outstanding option for the family or group that wants to experience the best that the area has to offer. Tierra Verde is only about a ten minute drive up into the mountains from the main highway which runs along the coastline but the difference in temperature and atmosphere is significant. At about 1000 feet, the villa offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean (especially the sunset during much of the year), cool mountain breezes, a minimum of annoying insects and a quiet setting in the midst of a rainforest. However it is close to beaches, shopping, tours, restaurants, groceries, medical services and other amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The villa itself is tastefully decorated. Anything that the guests need for meal preparation and serving is available in the modern kitchen. The pool is enhanced by a newly built rancho that provides shade and space for many activities. The living areas are spacious and there are four bedrooms to allow ample room for a large family or group. Although the owner is not in the area, he has designated representatives to answer any questions that clients have during their stay. Again I would highly recommend the villa which is available at a very reasonable price. It is clean, well-maintained, well-appointed, well-managed and a great choice for anyone's next vacation destination. I have personally talked with many clients who enjoyed the villa, were extremely satisfied and look forward to the next time that they are able to visit.

“Best time ever”

Reviewed 28 Jan 2013

There was a little bit of trouble the first day with the house being open and finding it in the pouring rain. But part of that was my fault I shouldn't have listen to the GPS. This was the best time I've had on vacation yet nice quiet town. The house was really nice there was some fishing gear in the garage and a machete that I used to get into coconuts :) I cant even put the view into words. There was only two of us and the house was huge. It was almost too big. The owner was very easy to work with. We loved it. Thanks Peter sorry it took so long for me to write a review.

“Graet stay with a beautiful view”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2012

After a 3 hour ride from San Jose to Puntarenas we arrived in the Tierraverde ocean view villa. On the internet we had seen pictures of this House and the accompanying views, in reality surpassed the spot, the House and the view all our expectations!! We opted for this stay because it is in one of the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica is located and there are many activities in the surrounding area. A bonus is that there are not many tourists here. We stayed for 3 weeks in the villa and have done several day activities from here. You can visit the many national parks (very worthwhile), but also explore the nearby rainforest with or without a guide. Horse riding, fishing, zipline, culinary and whale and Dolphin spotting are a small selection of the possibilities. The villa was every time a fantastic base to return and to experience again the day while enjoying a delicious BBQ and drink. In the garden of the villa was also enough to discover, monkeys, parrots, toucans and many other species of birds you see every day. From the terrace you can try with the binoculars to spot whales and dolphins, we saw them almost daily (in season, of course). The House is fully equipped. Each bedroom has a magnificent view and three of the four-room a private access to the swimming pool. The master bedroom also has a large private bathroom. The neighbor (Barbera) is always ready to answer questions or to give good tips. Benigno (the gardener) makes the pool clean every day, takes care of the garden and tells much about the animals and nature around the House. In the surroundings you will find many restaurants where you can eat at fair prices. You will find a number of good restaurants In Dominical (especially the sushi restaurant is genius!, pick up can too!). We still think back often to this villa and its views. We have three great weeks experience with excellent service, space, calm, activities and beautiful nature. We hope to return again soon. Mathijs

“A family expedition base”

Reviewed 2 Feb 2012

I invited my children and their boy/girlfriends (aged 19-24) to Costa Rica for the first ten days of 2012. We spent eight nights at Tierra Verde and enjoyed it thoroughly. We used it as a base for various daily expeditions including zip lining, an atv trip through the mountains, a riding trip to an absolutely stunning waterfall and natural pool, a fishing trip, and a guided visit of Manuel antonio National Park. As the sun sets at about 6 p.m., we headed back to the house for a swim and for supper and went to bed early (most nights!) to be ready for the next day's activities. The little beach town of Dominical has hippy/surfing qualities with small restaurants and booths. The beach is rocky but the surfing looks pretty good. Other beaches in the area are more amenable to swimming and lying around and present less of a rip tide risk. There are a few good restaurants in the area. We enjoyed the fact that there were few North american tourists, most of the people we saw on holiday being either from Costa Rica ("summer" vacation for their kids) or elsewhere from Central or South america. The house is located in the hills above Dominical and you need a 4 wheel drive SUV due to the steepness and condition of the roads up to the house. The house is just fine with a nice pool and a great view. It is modern, clean and well maintained. Barbara, who owns the house next door, was very helpful in receiving us and giving advice. Well worth the price.
