“Home away from home”
We had the absolute pleasure of staying in this lovely cottage and meeting Penny & Ray on our recent trip to France. The cottage is a true delight. Spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. Its warm and spacious and extremely comfortable. Penny & Ray were so helpful with the local area and imenities, especially when we needed a doctor for our son. This area of Brittany was lovely. Even in the colder weather we found plenty to do and explore. The nearby villages have everything you could need and are located very close by. The booking process and communication was the best we had experienced. Penny was very fast and efficient in processing our booking. Honestly, this place has left a lasting impression on us and a highlight of our trip. If you are travelling in this area I would highly recommend this beautiful and charming cottage and the surrounding countryside.
Response from the owner Thank you for this review Ruth, it was a pleasure for us to have your family as guests and we were more than happy to help out when your son was unwell. We were pleased he fully recovered and was able to enjoy the rest of your stay in France. It is also good to know that you found this area of Brittany a place worth visiting during December.
“charming and welcoming,”
thank you so much for oudelightful stay in 'La Belle Maison; it was warm, cosy and very well equipped. We particularly appreciatedthe very comfy sofa and beds. We look forward to staying again, further exploration of those fantastic trails through wonderful scenery.
“The most relaxing few days spent in a long while!”
La Belle Maison is a 'chocolate box' cottage from the outside and an absolute delight inside too. Every conceivable item is provided in the kitchen, the bedroom fresh and airy and the bathroom modern and spotlessly clean. We spent many hours relaxing in comfort by the super efficient log burning stove after a quick trip to the local village to stock up with supplies! Penny and Ray were very welcoming and helpful - even providing a very thoughtful pack of essentials for our arrival. Quite simply the most relaxing few days we could imagine - we even extended our stay while there and will certainly be returning and cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.
“Best gite I have ever stayed in 20years”
Both ray and penny look well after you and are very helpfull in all aspects, walks ,places to visit, food dining, also great knowledge to local wine!
“A Great Spot”
We had a wonderful time at the cottage la belle maison. The cottage is situated in a quiet surrounding with a lovely garden. The cottage is very well equipped. In the neigbourhood there are lot of trips to make. Also it is very nice that you can reserve for short stays. Penny and Ray are a good hosts, they know what holiday people need!
“A beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet spot”
We had a lovely restful week in this gorgeous cottage. It is superbly equipped , spacious ,and very comfortable. The garden is large with plenty of shade when needed - but there are also plenty of sunny spots. The area is very quiet but easily within reach of local amenities. We were able to enjoy walks and cycle rides on local lanes, and the coast was an easy car journey away. Our hosts were pleasant and helpful.
“A quaint cottage in an idylic part of Brittany”
A warm welcome awaited us from Penny & Ray who were exception hosts through out our vaction. Excellant information to hand in the cottage regarding sightseeing, restaurants, activitys in the local village and surrounding areas thats if you really wanted to leave the tranquility of the cottage garden. Relax in the garden with a book or your binoculars and of course some cheese and a glass of wine oh and dont forget your camera excellant scenery all around. For the more energetic good walks locally and quite roads for the cyclists. The cottage was clean, tidy and offered all the amenities to ensure our stay was relaxing, trouble free and enjoyable from the start.Thank you Penny & Ray and hopefully we will see you again very soon x
“Everything was perfect”
We immediately felt at home and just had such a relaxing time. Penny and Ray are such lovely people and we were made to feel so welcome. Cannot recommend more highly! Will be visiting again and again!
“We had a wonderful time at La Belle Maison”
This cottage is in a very peaceful location and we loved the quietness. Just walking round the local roads was great - everyone seems to have apple trees and were harvesting the apples - the smell was lovely. The kitchen is very well equipped which is great because we like to spend ages choosing food at the supermarket and cooking ourselves. Leclerc in Loudeac is a great supermarket and has a great selection of food and of wine ready packed in 6's in boxes to bring home. If it is cold enough do try the wood burner it's great - we got far too hot after a couple of hours but loved it. It is easy to light and keep going. Lots of places are within easy reach of the cottage - we went to Pontivy, Carnac and Dinan all of which are lovely. Le Vaublanc bakery is a must (you need to turn left over the bridge to find it) and has fantastic bread and chocolate brioche. And don't forget the bakery in Plessela for fantastic cakes. We want to come again and explore more of the local area especially the deer crossing down the lane.
