“peace and quiet, the most beautiful sounds and smells”
We have enjoyed two visits to Throstle nest. The service we received was second to none, nothing was to much trouble, it made our much needed holiday so much more special. We loved the house it was so clean, well decorated and so well equipped you don't need to take anything apart from your clothes!Even toiletries were supplied, lots of thought had been put into the needs in the kitchen, nothing was missing, home from home. The location was amazing, very remote and quiet although we were close enough to Sleights to walk across the fields to shop, visit the pub or go to the very nice garden centre. The shops at Sleighs were lovely village shops.Or a short drive to Whitby and surrounding villages. The surrounding area is so pretty.A really good part about this area is you have the best of both worlds because you have beautiful country side and the seaside as well.we love to walk so we had some woodland walks, cliff top walks and the beach. You also have the steam trains which run to Pickering etc.The cake shops are amazing! And the fish and chips. There is something for everyone. I must say I don't really have any least parts to the holiday location, apart from having to o home
“Magical and so Relaxing”
Alison and George were perfect hosts nothing was too much trouble and yet they were unintrusive. The cottage was ideal and in a magical place you couldnt fail to enjoy the stay it draws you back like a magnet definately go back
“An idyllic holiday”
Spotless accomodation, warm welcome - scones, homemade jam, tea, coffee and milk awaiting our arrival. Everything needed to make our stay an excellent holiday was provided, including all those essentials - tea towels, detergent, soap, toiletries, toilet rolls, clingfilm, - that are so easy to forget. Even a locker to house our muddy boots. The service was exemplary - the slight problem with the shower was dealt with immediately. The location was quiet, secluded and peaceful - the fords provided no problem (but we didn't anticipate quite so many 1 in 3 gradients!). The reference literature and maps in the cottage meant that we actually needed no advance planning. Our hosts seem to have anticipated every need. We were fortunate in the weather, but had it been wet and cold, the cottage was well heated and spacious. The bird feeder and bird identification book were a thoughtful touch and the the outdoor furniture ideal to enjoy a sunny breakfast or warm evening.
“Scenic and relaxing”
What a wonderful place to stay. Tranquil and beautifull scenery. So many geat places to visit from this idyllic cottage. The owners provided a wealth of local information and the welcoming home produce was a delight. A gorgeous well equpped cottage that we were sorry we had to leave.
“A wonderfully relaxing place to stay with wonderful hosts”
The cottage was clean and so comfortable in beautiful surroundings. With home made scones and jam waiting on arrival nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. It is a little piece of heaven on earth in a beautiful part of the country couldnt have asked for any more. We hope to revisit.
“A lovely place to stay”
A very pleasant cottage in an intriguingly remote-feeling rural location, yet quite close to towns like Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. Lovely bedroom looking out on the garden. The sitting room is a wee bit small, and there's not a lot of room for eating, though quite adequate for two people. it's a place we'd certainly think of going back to.
