“A relaxing break in delightful surroundings”
Our stay in the Tack Room started with a warm welcome from the owner, who showed us around this unusual property. It was tastefully furnished, very comfortable, and beautifully equipped with a lovely basket of fruit awaiting our arrival, which was a very thoughtful touch. Middleham proved to be an historic and interesting centre, with several places to eat, and was ideal for exploring the dales and enjoying some attractive, scenic walks. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
“What a lovely Tach room”
Everything about the Tach was Excellant. The lounge at the top and the big kitchen at the bottom.A really good shower room and the little Cosey bedroom all made for an Excellant stay.Seeing the race horses in the village on their way up to the chases. And three really good pubs with Excellant food. The local people were nice and easy to talk too.I Realy enjoyed my stay at the Tach room.Undercover parking for the car as well.
Lovely host, cottage beautifully clean with everything you need. Location is perfect and quiet and ideal for walking. Definately will return. Thank you so much
“A charming conversion in a lovely location.”
The Tack Room is a charming conversion of the highest standard and everything one needs is provided. The accommodation is very comfortable and the location is perfect for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, as well as being convenient for local hostelries. The fruit and flowers left by the owner were a pleasant surprise.
“We found the Tack Room an ideal place to stay for a couple on th”
The Tack Room is in the quiet village of Middleham, dominated by Richard Iii's Castle. We enjoyed shopping & Coffee in nearby Leyburn, with The Shawl giving splendid views of the valley. Other favourite places around are Masham (2 breweries & Visitor Centres), Richmond and lovely walks of all descriptions in Wensleydale and Swaledale; Northallerton a bit further & well worth a visit. Julia couldn't have been more welcoming - any problems that did arise were quickly sorted out and she is always at hand to help. The flat is very well furnished and comfortable & horses go by outside: this year was our fourth visit. The accommodation and the location have a lot to offer and we'd go again!
service 1st class cottage vey nice, washing machine provided but nowhere to dry your clothes eating places gone down hill best thing about cottage-very handy location worst thing about cottage - upstairs lounge
“Could not have wished for a better stay.”
This must be the best holiday retreat for two in the Yorkshire Dales. The level of cleanliness, comfort and service surpassed anything we have previously experienced.
“One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.”
The cottage was very good quality.Beautiful to see the horses every morning going down to the run.Very beautiful scenery, defenetly an area we would return to .
“Luxurious accommodation with friendly helpful owner”
We were welcomed by the owner Julia Barnet who explained how to use the central heating etc. She had left us a huge bowl of fresh fruit which kept us going for days. The accommodation was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The only problem we encountered was with the shower as the temperature was very difficult to regulate. It was a very short walk to the centre of Middleham where there was a general store, cafe, gift shop and several restaurants/pubs to eat. The racing stables dominated the village so there were plenty of horses and riders to watch if you were interested. Middleham gave us easy access to Leyburn, Bedale, Masham and many other intesting Yorkshire towns and villages. There were spectacular drives over the Yorkshire Dales to Hawes and Muker and it was ideal for keen walkers.
“Great cottage for couples”
The cottage is equipped to a high standard and the owner ensures it is immaculate on your arrival. She has it stocked with extras for you to enjoy. The weather was good during our stay so we enjoyed the sunny private patio area all day. Middleham is a good central location for both walking and touring.
