“Excellent Family Holiday”

Reviewed 20 Jan 2014

A friendly welcome with wine and milk started a smashing Family holiday for 6 adults and 2 children. The house was spacious, comfortable and well equiped.Central Heating and a Wood Burner made it lovely and warm and cosy. The Children loved all the Horses and the peace and quiet of being right in the Countryside.

“As a holiday cottage this takes some beating!”

I won't bore you or interest you with a long and verbose account. Suffice to say the acommodation is top notch and interesting at the same time. Quiet location in easy reach of lots of other interesting places, be it the coast or the moors. The owner is always available but not invasive. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Wheelhouse and hope to stay there again.

“Brilliant”

Everything about this property was good. Loads of space - more spacious than any other ever visited - and we use these a lot. Upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, so suits elderly people too who may struggle with stairs. Just beware the water issue. It's very heavy in iron, so you would be better to take and use bottled water for tea and coffee, otherwise it's a horrid taste. That's it. Can't fault the place. For good food (excellent food) visit the Jolly Farmer just about 2 miles away, fabulous.

“Lovely Comfortable Spacious Cottage With a Horsey Bonus!”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

Spent a great week with family in this spacious cottage. Lovely views from lounge and if you're fond of horses, a most unusual view from kitchen right into racing stables yard! We loved it. You need a car, but plenty to do round about and some good eating places. Near to Whitby, Scarborough etc and only about 20 mins from "Heartbeat" country. We can certainly recommend it.

“Away from the noise”

This is a fabulous little cottage with room for a family get together or a week exploring the north yorkshire moors and coast we stayed with our two dogs to get them away from the fireworks at home in middlesbrough we had a great time the log fire was realy cosy and theres freeview tv and books to read board games to play the cottage is realy lovely and we slept well (including the dogs) I would highly recomend this place the owners were realy nice people as it turned out it was tilley the little black patterdale,s last holiday with us as she sadly passed away in the new year of 2012

“Very relaxing”

A lovely property which enabled us to share a couple of days with our daughter and family and to entertain friends.Nice doggy walks from the property and lots of interesting places to visit by car.

“relaxed, wonderful views, chance to unwind”

Reviewed 11 Feb 2010

the cottage was beautiful, there was horses and foals behind the cottage which you could see them through your windows. the owner was very helpful and kind she showed us around the cottage and also left us a small bottle of red wine, fresh eggs and a box of jaffa cakes which was a lovely treat!!! the rooms where comfortable and clean, the only thing i would say is that the water when having a bath was yellow. suggest a shower which was fine. lovely little villages nearby, and not forgetting the opened fire pubs!! we all felt relaxed and chilled. will be booking again soon.

“Cottage”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2009

The accommodation was perfect and our host was very helpful. This location would suit ramblers better than us as we do not do much walking anymore and it was always at least 25 minutes drive to the nearest suitable restaurant and main town.
