“Relaxation in a peaceful village.”
The cottage is clean, nicely decorated and well-equipped. I have fond memories of morning coffee sitting on the bench overlooking the stream listening to birdsong. The cottage is in a superb location with moorland walks on the doorstep and a friendly village pub serving fine food.
“The perfect 'get away from it all' cottage”
From the moment we were welcomed by the owner to the moment we left this was the perfect get away from it all break. The cottage was very cosy for a winter break, we could also see it as ideal for those warmer evenings, sitting outside by the beck. Although Lastingham is in a lovely quiet valley the towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Malton are all within easy reach. Walking on the Moors is accessible from the door-step,wonderful countryside to explore in all seasons as long as you are fully prepared; walking boots, etc. are essential. We hope to return in the very near future.
“Lovely cosy cottage.”
Welcomed by the owner who showed us round the cottage and explained where everything was and how to use the fire, water heater etc.It was lovely and warm and a very compact cottage with all we needed.Very small village with no shops and only one pub/restaurant.Had a meal there on two occasions, good food and friendly staff. We wanted a quiet and relaxing break and that's just what we had.Would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting same.
“Comfortable, cozy cottage in a beautiful setting”
Lovely welcome from the owner, plenty of information given about the pub meals across the road-didn't use it once-found all we wanted in lovely shops in Kirkbymoorside.Bedroom very comfortable and cozy, lovely little cottage for 2.Sheep round-up-was very amusing to watch.Very close to Whitby,Staithes and Scarborough, not to be missed on your tour of the area.
“Peace Perfect Peace”
The perfect vacation home .Clean warm and cosy cottage. The owners were friendly and welcoming but also not overpowering. we knew where they were if we needed anything .We would certainly recommend this property.
“Enjoyable and relaxing break”
I had a wonderful holiday. The cottage was in a beautiful and quiet spot - it was just a short walk from a top notch pub in what is a very pretty and peaceful village. The cottage was just the right size for my husband and I and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We found that the location was ideal as a base for exploring the moors - we found a number of very good walks, including to Rosedale Abbey and Hutton-le-Hole that started from Lastingham. I would love to go back again.
A beautiful cottage, clean & comfortable, a good place to explore the moors. Friendly owner and great food in the village pub.
“Superb holiday in an excellent property”
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks here and were very disappointed to discover that this property is about to be taken off the books as the owners are planning to reoccupy it.
“the hidden village”
An ideal quaint spot for walkers and exploration of north yorkshire.Lastingham has a super pub with excellent food, a great old church and also within easy reach of the beautifull east coast, what more do you want.Mr L.G.Wells of Curdridge Near Southampton,Hants.,Our cottage had everything to make it a memorable stay.
The owners were welcoming & friendly.Beckside was a lovely accommodation appointed to a high standard.Lastingham is a quiet village with two pubs.quite a few holiday attractions are nearby. The best the holiday cottage a welcoming retreat after a day out.The worst the factthat there was no convenient shop for morning papers & milk. A lovely&relaxing holiday.
