“Lovely and cosy, time to relax and chill out in the evening.”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2013

The Hayloft exceeded our expectations, the owners were very friendly and approachable should there be any need. The Hayloft was very well equipped with everything that the visitor should need. We went earlier in the year when it was a bit cooler, it was lovely to return to a warm and welcoming cottage after exploring the area, the road going out of the village takes you across the moors and is a lovely drive. and should you need to feel more cosier on your return the log fire is an absolute must we loved it. The pub across the road is very welcoming and serves great home cooked meals. The Hayloft is a great retreat with lots of scenic walks.

“peaceful,brilliant view, great location.”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2012

The hayloft was well equipped and comfortable. It is situated in a little village and a couple of miles away from the nearest town, Pickering. There are fantastic views from the hayloft of the surrounding countryside. It is a good base to explore the Yorkshire moors from and the coastline around Whitby.I would recommend a stay here if you want a peaceful stay in the country. The hayloft is clean and ideal for a couple. There is a sofa bed in the living area but there is only one bathroom(with toilet) accessible through the only bedroom. There are steep stone steps up to the hayloft so it would be unsuitable for people who can not do stairs.

“all we needed”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2011

Everything was perfect, the setting, the owners and the Hayloft itself, didn't want to leave, plenty of space, a large lounge, diner and kitchen lovely bedroom en suite with corner bath, all very warm, didn't need the open fire. We will definitely return one day.Close to lots of interesting places, Goathland, (heartbeat) Whitby & Scarborough, not to mention lots of castles, abbey's & of coarse the moors.

A beautifully converted haybarn with a lovely view of the Howardian hills in North Yorkshire, where you will find Castle Howard. There are so many other lovely places to visit we were spoilt for choice, and certainly want to return.

“Felt right as soon as we walked in”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2011

We had a fantastic week at the hay loft. It just felt right as soon as we drove in. We were not dissapointed. The owners were really friendly. Such a bonus to find this gem, and being able to take our two retrievers. The pub was very good just over road. But make sure you are hungry when you go as the portions are big. Such a pretty, tranquil, friendly little village. The hay loft was the perfect retreat. We have already recommended it to several friends.

“A lovely Christmas break”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2011

We spoke to the Owners a few days prior to travelling and was given excellent directions to the property. On arriving we found a warm, cosy Hayloft awaiting us. The property is excellently furnished, with a very comfortable bed. (An experience I have rarely found when on holiday.) The Kitchen has been equipped to such a high standard, it was like being in my own kitchen. (Very important when cooking Christmas dinner away from home!) Newton upon Rawcliffe is a extremely pretty village, with some beautiful walks. This was enhanced further by the fact it was covered in deep snow. There was a problem with the central heating on our last day. The Owner was very apologetic, was doing his utmost to get it sorted out and provided us with extra logs for the woodburner. We found the Owner both friendly (even helping to push our car out of the snow one morning!) and unintrusive. I would most definitely recommend this property to other people.

“Valued Property”

This property is very good. I and my wife are satisfied with conditions that were provided. The only regret is: if there could access to internet would be much better.

“Total relaxation”

Reviewed 20 May 2010

Met by owner and given a very comprehensive tour of accommodation. Lovely welcome pack of Yorkshire Curd tart and chocolates - Yum Yum! The Hayloft was everything we could have wished for and more - clean, bright and very well equipped. The village was everything an English village should be and the meals and welcome at the pub were excellent. The area was great for walking which was the purpose of our holiday. We enjoyed mostly good weather but it was great to return to the cosy and warm Hayloft. The two dogs were made very welcome and they loved it.
