“One of the best”
Our stay at Crych Du was an absolute delight. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, extremely well equipped and in a beautiful setting. The owners could not have been more helpful, We were so pleased that we booked another holiday there as soon as we returned home. What more could be said!!
“Peace from the outset”
On first entering the property and the area we new that we had made the best of choice. We found the cottage super clean and the facilities first class. Wildlife was a wonder to watch. We even had a foal born in the next field which was pure magic. The owners were there if needed but never interfered. I would highly recommend this holiday to everyone.
“Total seclusion but close enough to town”
A very comfortable cottage right on the banks of the River Wye, only a short walk from Rhyader. The whole area around is spectacular, with plenty of gentle walks or for the more adventurous plenty of hills.
“wonderful holiday location with great views and wildlife.”
A wonderful holiday location. The cottage has everything that a family needs to enjoy a really relaxing break. The wildlife was amazing, red kites. peregrin falcons, and the red fox hunting early in the mornings. Cannot wait to return in 2013.
From the minute we drove down the single track lane on the floor of the valley, we were enchanted by our surroundings. Ancient oak trees and moss covered rocks to our left, the wide tubbling river and craggy mountains to our right. The barn conversion was nestled on the valley floor and looked welcoming after a long journey. On entering, it certainly had the 'wow' factor. The conservatory, where we were to spend most of our time indoors was warm and spacious, with incredible views. Inside there was everything we could need. It was warm and cosy and the beds were very comfortable after along day's walking or cycling. The walking and cycling was straight from the door, so barely had to use the car! Waking up at sunrise, watching the river mist rising gently up the valley to reveal sun and blue sky above the peak was a sight to behold and quite other-worldly. The bird and animal life literally on your doorstep was intriguing, we spent hours following the river and watching the wildlife which depended on it. Evenings were beautiful and as the sun went down it was relaxing to sit in the lovely little hidden courtyard garden with a glass of local wine. When it became chilly, time could be spent reading a book beside the logburner, then a cup of cocoa and out to watch the vast dark skies and bright stars undulled by light pollution. Bliss!
“relaxing and peacefull”
it was such a beautiful place to stay river at the bottom of the garden every thing in the cottage that u needed even had the lovley weather will be back again
“Fantastic holiday fix!”
A friend and I arrived for our holiday and were greeted, taken to the property, shown around and made very welcome by the owners. The cottage was all on one level with comfortable beds, good bathroom, cosy tv room, lovely conservatory, well equiped kitchen, dining area and overall very clean. There was also an outdoor table with chairs and a bench sited under a tree near the river. The location was excellent with fields surrounding the cottage and with a river walk at the bottom of the site. The owners ot the cottage kept 2 horses in the fields attached to the cottage. When one of them visited the horses, usually daily, we chatted and this made us feel they were readily available should we need them. There was a road we could hear which was the other side of the river and through some trees but it wasn't intrusive. This was the a470 and it was a short drive to reach it which gave us the opportunity to visit this area of Wales. We loved the variety of birds seen at the property and sitting in the conservatory for breakfast was a must as we saw red kites daily. We would love to go back again as it was the perfect holiday home for our needs and we didn't want to leave.
“Idyllic setting - absolute peace”
A real get away from it all cottage. Beautiful scenery - surrounded by hills and the river Wye at the bottom of the garden - just sheep, horses and chickens for neighbours. Bird watchers paradise - kites and buzzards galore. Highlight was a very cooperative kingfisher who sat on a branch eating his fish dinner just like you see on TV! Cottage was very well equipped - especially the kitchen. Beds comfortable. Owners had thought of everything you could possibly want. Rhyader handy for shopping. Lovely walkiing area either directly from the cottage, or a short drive away. Only one request: Please can the owners get another rocking chair for the conservatory as we had to fight over the sole one there. Nothing so relaxing as rocking gently looking at the view and sipping wine.
