“A true Irish rural getaway- Bliss.”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2014

My sister and I stayed in Loch Cruite Cottage this summer and would love to go back. On arrival there was wine, bread and honey to welcome us. To say the least we were speechless at how beautiful the valley is that this 200 year old barn conversion is nestled into. As this cottage is located over the other side of the mountains to Dingle, over Connor pass, and then along a single track that runs up through the valley, you have the true experience of peace and quite amongst stunning Irish scenery. The wildlife is in abundance, endless birdwatching from the cottage, also at Brandon Point, and along the coast line. Walking opportunities are all on your doorstep and the owners of the cottage are incredibly helpful and happy to advise you on the best walks. Of course, the local pub O'Connors is definitely worth a mention. This is a true local's pub, oozing with character, good food, Guinness and live music. We were welcomed and entertained three evenings of our weeks stay! Fahamore beach was another fantastic day, swimming in crystal clear water, gazing up at rolling mountains and hardly anyone there, definitely a surreal experience for us. The house itself played a part in gaining the true Irish rural experience. The traditional decor added to the charm of the house and was all immaculately clean when we arrived. All appliances were in working order and the kitchen well equipped enough for what we needed. Ditching the 'rat race' lifestyle in this homely cottage for a week was the most relaxing way of holidaying we have done so far. Personally, sometimes not having wifi is a good thing! The two double bedrooms which we slept in were comfortable with plenty of warm bedding. The bathroom was clean, with a sink, loo and a shower cubicle with an electric shower. The house is located alongside a small working farm which gave us a sense of the local farming way of life. This included observing some sheep sheering in the adjacent barn, great fun! Over the back of the cottage you can walk to Loch Cruite, we timed it right to watch the brown trout jumping. The house was true to its description and rating on the website, bringing a few extra towels is the only advise I can give you and to enjoy your stay. Ireland and the Dingle peninsula has us hooked, we'll be back!
