“Beautiful spot, some practical issues”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2014

I agree with the person who stayed in August. The setting is lovely and peaceful, and the location central and convenient for exploring the whole South Shore, which is a beautiful part of Nova Scotia--the artisans, the beaches, the LaHave Bakery, the ferry providing convenient access to Kingsburg, Lunenburg, Blue Rocks, Stonehurst, etc. You couldn't ask for a better location. Jo and Dave were kind and helpful; the kitchen is well equipped. But none of us were able to fully unpack: there were almost no places to hang clothes; moreover, not all rooms had dressers or cabinets, and those cabinets that did exist contained the owners' clothes and supplies. In one bedroom, the dresser contained mothballs, and we had to remove the drawers and place them in the store room and try (not entirely successfully) to air out the room. The water shortage was also an issue. Obviously the owners had no control over the droughty conditions, but they apparently cancelled a water delivery that would have topped up the cistern while at the same time asking us not to flush and to limit our showers/baths. While we cooperated, some of my housemates were quite unhappy about the situation and the way it was handled. All in all, I felt like I was staying in someone else's home instead of a holiday rental set up for the benefit and convenience of the guests. I might recommend the place simply because of its superb location, but I would feel it necessary to caution prospective tenants about its practical shortcomings.

“Love it So Much We Keep Coming Back”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2012

Our family vacationed here for the third time this year, with a long interval between our second and third trips. We had happy memories and were not disappointed. The house was as warm, spacious and comfortable as we'd remembered (and still full of interesting things), and its location just as beautiful and peaceful. The immediate coastline provides places to walk or sit and gaze out at the water, and there are nearby sand beaches for swimming and walking. The house is well-equipped and the location is ideal for a family vacation!

“Ideal location for a seashore holiday”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

My family and I spent a week at this property and thoroughly enjoyed the week. The house is spacious and well equipped with all the comforts of home and everything you need to prepare and serve meals. The seashore is, literally, in the back yard and a sandy beach, with rolling surf, is just 6K away. For fishing enthusiasts, there is an opportunity to fish off a wharf less than 1K from the property. The location is very rural, peaceful and quiet but Bridgewater, a popular shopping destination, is only about twenty minutes away. I would definitely recommend this rental property for anyone interested in a holiday by the seashore.

“Peaceful artistic Paradise”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2011

We absolutely loved our stay here! The property is incredibly beautiful with 2 different beaches accessible on the site. The beaches have tons of great skipping rocks, and it was a perfect situation for our family. The house is spacious, cozy, and full of interesting artwork, books and magazines. In some rooms there is a water view on three sides of the house, and the sun beamed into the living room in the morning. The master bedroom has a skylight, and is quite large. My wife and I are from Vancouver, BC. We stayed here with our three year old son, my wife's parents and her brother, there was plenty of space and everyone loved it. We could not believe the beauty and value that we found here, and have already recommended this place to many other people.
