Description

Walk in and feel right at home with everything you need to have a great stay at in Michigan City. This house built in the early 1900s, and in the early 2000s redesigned and remodeled into four private units. Much of the Victorian charm remains, including some of the original wood plank floorings, the high ceilings, wide arches, stairs, but with the advantage of modern kitchens, upgraded electric, each unit has their own water heater, central air conditioning, and heat.

The individually decorated accommodations feature flat-screen smart TVs with cable and WiFi. We have had a lot of fun decorating and making each apartment special.

This apartment is on the first floor and is the only two-bedroom apartment in the building. The living room has places to sit down and relax with a smart TV. The kitchen is a large open fully functional kitchen, with full-size fridge, gas stove, and dishwasher. Pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, forks, spoons, knives, are in the cabinets the drawers, everything but the groceries. One of the bedrooms has a king size bed and a small TV and 2 twin beds in the other room.

Available to all guests is a patio table with four chairs on the front porch to read or have coffee, and a picnic table in the yard.

We are pet-friendly but do have to ask them to be quiet to respect all guest.

The Uptown Art District (Franklin St) is an easy walk, three blocks away, beautiful churches, antique shopping, and restaurants. Just off the main drag more beautiful churches, Barker Mansion, brewery, live theatre (June to Aug), and the Saturday Farmers Market.

But even closer is the Lighthouse Outlet Mall just across the street. The mall has 120 stores, great shopping, people come from all over the country to shop.

Washington Park is a little bit of a longer walk at about a mile, but an easy drive, they do charge for parking during the day. The park has a jetty to the lighthouse a popular fishing location, the beach, the zoo, the splash park, the marina, auditorium with fabulous free concerts mid-June to end of Aug. Thur. night 7:30

Feel like exploring; go to Chicago for the day. Walk to the South Shore train (11th and Franklin) and then a train ride of around an hour and 45-minutes puts you right into the heart of Chicago, the last stop Millennium Station. Just on the other side of the mall is highway 12, a 15 minutes ride to the west is the Dune State Park or a 15-minute ride to the east is New Buffalo.

Getting around

Washington and Franklin lead you to the lake area and up town. We are about 3 blk from Franklin. 1 mile to beach ( Washington Park Beach) has restaurant, bathrooms, parking, pier, lighthouse, marina, zoo, splash park and Free music on Thursday night 7:30. Feel like going into Chicago for the day? Walk to the South Shore train (11 and Franklin) about 1:45 min train ride taking you right into the heart of Chicago last stop Millennium Station. Hwy 12 will take you to New buffalo Mi. about 12 mile go east and Hwy 12 will take you to Dune State Park.
