“Great Apt Near Sites & Shopping”

Reviewed 22 May 2015

This apartment was perfect for our needs! We had traveled the country in a 4x4 SUV camper and looked forward to a few stationary days in Reykjavik. The apartment was easy to find (right on the corner!) and appeared just as the pictures showed. It had everything we needed - a comfortable bed, wifi access, a small kitchen, a shower (wonderful after camping for 2 weeks), and even laundry (small loads only). It was located right near the downtown area, just blocks from Hallgrimskirkja (church), the numerous stores found along Skólavörðustígur, Laugavegur, & other nearby streets, by Reykjavíkurtjörn (lake), and within walking distance to the BMI Bus Terminal. Friendly cats greeted us at every corner and it was a sweet, quiet neighborhood. Jónas contacted a week before our arrival with all the pertinent details and the apt included a notebook containing all the useful information you can imagine from where the trash bins are located to favorite restaurants nearby. We didn't have a single problem and would rent this apartment again in a heartbeat. Thank you Jónas!

“Excellent Place to Stay Downtown in Reykjavik”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2014

Search No Further....this apartment had all of the necessities and more (endless hot water) and the location was perfect to a short walk to the local pastry/bakery and downtown shops! Jonas provided contact at Geysir Car Rental at Airport if you want to venture out on your own. Be mindful that Non-SUV vehicles should stay on highway offroading. I rented a car and was able to navigate the main highway for numerous waterfalls, glaciers, beaches, etc throughout the Southcoast region as far as Jokulsarlon glacier and North of Reykjavik as far as Gullfoss and Kirkjufell Mountain and Waterfall. I rented a Hyundai I10 that provided excellent gas mileage due to $9.68 per gallon/$2.42 per liter during our stay. I had the chance to meet Jonas who is a friendly, helpful gentleman who recommended several great restaurant choices as well as providing a detailed information packet at the apartment for the local area. Bed was so comfy and down blankets were so warm! Washer/dryer combo...may need to get assistance from Jonas to operate effectively. Iron, coffee maker, coffee supplies, tv, free wifi, detergent, towels, stove, refrig, hair dryer are included with stay at this location. 2 blocks to wonderful Pastry/Bakery shop! 4 blocks to downtown shops 4 blocks to BSI bus terminal where Reykjavik Excusions resides for numerous tours if you opt not to rent a car. Thanks again for an Awesome stay in Iceland. We look forward to our return visit :)

“compact apartment, super clean and good location”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2014

Very nice, very clean place, very well maintained. Even though the apartment is quite compact, it has everything you would ever need - a full kitchen, washer, coffee maker, kettle etc. The bed was super comfortable with nice fluffy blankets. And the best of all is the location that is just minutes away from shops and restaurants. The owner, Jonas, was great in giving us hints for places to eat and rent a car. This is a fantastic option for exploring Reykjavik!

“Evacuate from the busy city into comfort and function!!!”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2014

Jonas Olafsson has a little gem there on Bergstaðastræti. Keypoints are: -Keyless entry (no fussing with extra stuff) -quiet neighborhood! Close to all the nightlife and art happening, yet still quiet enough to enjoy peaceful late morning sleeping in (we remained quite jet lagged) -Comfortable bed and bedding... clean and cozy and inviting. -functional design and plenty of space to hang and put your belongings away. -Every kitchen appliance and cookware required for inhome dining (we had a delectible lamb stew!) glassware for all sorts of beverages. The space might seem small, but it keeps you in the mood that you are on vacation. Cozy for lovers! Tips: -Parking is not difficult to find and if you have to park a block away, it's not that far to trek back. Be sure to look up on the block to see if it requires parking fees.. if there are no P's on that street, you don't have to pay weekday rates. - Be sure to Press the Power button on the TV for a few seconds longer to start it up. -I think the infloor heat is started by the towel heater rack across from the shower and powered by turning the knob on the lower right side. Was a nice touch. -Washing machine is also a dryer! Cleaning lady only comes when requested. We did not need to call her at all. -Best local find: a brunch spot called Borðstofan located on Grundarstíg and Bjargarstigur. Pastry heaven and great coffee. This is to add to the already comprehensive and useful guide of local merchants that Jonas has prepared for guests. Worth every Kronur!!!

“Spacious and great location”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2014

We wanted an apartment so we could self-cater to save a little money. This place was fantasic as it was well priced and right in the middle of Reykjavik. The heating worked very well, which was important for a February stay and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, including plastic wrap for sandwiches for our day trips. Although it's very close to the city centre, it was a quiet area so we had no trouble sleeping. On one night we even saw the Northern lights from the door step!

“Incredible first-time experience!”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2013

This is my first bnb experience, and it was just perfect that Jonas' offers a great studio apartment (friendly, clean, convenient, just like home!!), and the one we stayed is so close to the BSI terminal, very convenient for travellers to take day trips there, and the studio's got everything, we do not need to worry about where to eat and even the laundry, we do not need to share with strangers, which is quite good for me Jonas also offered good recommendations about the restaurant/cafe/shops nearby in a "guide book" he created, very clear with pictures! very thoughtful! I will definitely recommend it!

“Romantic & modern accomodation for a couple”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2013

We spent 5 days in 101 Reykjavik appartment (No.3.) & we enjoyed it so much! The accomodation is beautiful, stylish, clear, modern & very-very well-equipped. Our flight arrived at night & check-in was trouble free. It is the best place in the capital, because the high street, bakery, supermarkets are close to it & Lake Tjörnin (which is 3 minutes to the app. No.3.) is a fine orientation point. Thanks for the great experience! Zs.& Sz.

“Excellent, great service, great price.”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2013

This is a perfect apartment for two people (though there is a sofa bed that could sleep more if you were bringing children). Well appointed, very clean, less than a 10 minute walk from downtown. We rented a car and free on-street parking was never a problem. It's very comfy. Jonas, the owner, was great about getting directions, entry info, surrounding stores, restaurants, etc to us. Next time we go (And there will be a next time, Iceland is as fantastic as everyone says!) I can't imagine staying anyplace else.

“Great Stay”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2013

It is a pleasure to stay in an apartment like this! I didn´t have any problems during my stay here. There is everything you need, I didn´t miss anything, the apartment is very cozy, modern furnished and very well situated - it is in very center of Reykjavik so everything is close, on the other hand the street is quiet, so even if it takes 5 minutes to get to the main street, you are not disturbed by any noise. The owner of the apartment, Jonas, is very nice and when you need anything he always ready to help you. I would recommend this apartment to everyone, I felt there like at home.

“Excellent space and location!”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

My fiance and I had a great time. The apartment was small but cozy and very clean and the owner, Jonas, was extremely helpful and kind. The location is perfect, very close to downtown and multiple attractions. Good size for up to two people, but not anymore. Very comfortable bed! Would stay there again and recommend to others!!
