“Nothing but perfection!”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2014

This house is amazing! The pictures on web site does not do it justice! Beautiful, big and very clean, and accommodates large group perfectly. The master bedroom is amazing! Also have to mention how we went to BBQ on grill late Saturday night and I called contact number and with in 20 mts we were brought gas tank for the BBQ! Absolutely love this house, was hard to leave and will be back for sure!

“Location and Space are What Really Made this - would give 3 1/2 stars if I could”

We were very excited about this trip and this home after reading the other reviews and seeing all of the fantastic pictures of it on-line. We were meeting up with family from Pennsylvania, so looking forward to a great vacation and having lots of room to spread out. When we first drove up, we were greeted by the scary driveway that others warned about and they were not kidding. Even my Toyota Highlander was not able to clear it- so all the cars except for the truck had to park on the roadside for the length of the stay. The Tundra was the only truck that was safely able to make it over that hump. Other disappointments were the overall cleanliness of the house. It was pretty grimy feeling and there was dust everywhere. The floors in the kitchen were sticky. I had to clean them already on our first day there. I get that it is a large house, but we do pay for cleaning fees for a reason. Also, there were only 4 towels per bathroom for total of 12- yet the home says sleeps 14. Small thing to some, but we were irked at having to fight for towels and use our own beach towels for our bath towels. When a home says it sleeps 14, I generally believe that those 14 will get to sleep comfortably. The 5 beds in each of the rooms were plenty comfortable enough for sleeping 10, but the pull outs were beyond bad. Luckily kids were most of who slept on those, so they did not complain overmuch, but for the adult, I was embarrassed that was what they had to sleep on. The spa smelled atrocious when we got there, so we had to call someone out. They had to drain it twice- they blamed it on previous people probably drinking in it and spilling a beer- lovely. Only the kids ended up using the spa, as it still did not look too appealing to us afterward. I am very glad that we thought ahead to bring crock pots and some additional baking supplies as what they had was very limited. They did supply ample toilet paper. The refrigerator did not want to stay closed- something wrong with the seal, so we had to double check that constantly. Only one of the clothes washers was working, and that one sounded like it was on it's last leg as well. They did not have chalk for the pool table, and while they had lots of board games, many were missing pieces and/or falling apart from age/wear (not as big a deal, but just a heads up). We lost power to one side of the main floor one day and could not find the breaker box for that room so finally had to call someone out. Might be helpful to have a binder with helpful hints for those kinds of things. The TV's with Direct TV were nice to have in each room, as we were able to put the kids in a separate room one night, the younger adults stayed in another, etc. Overall, though, we mostly just stayed in the one great room off the kitchen. It would have been nice to have had a bigger deck with more seating, so we could have sat out there as a group. Luckily, it was pretty cool the first couple of days there as about half of the window latches were broken so we could not open the windows- not good when you do not have air. Also a light fixture broke off of the ceiling fans in one of the guest rooms. Luckily, no one was hurt and someone was in there to catch it on its way down so we did not have broken glass everywhere. Just a warning that the bathtub in that guest bath is also extremely high- so use caution when getting in and out. One of our family members took an ugly fall getting out and was pretty bruised up. What made this good still was the size of the home and the location. It was close enough to the lake and to things in town that it didn't take exceptionally long to get to places, but it was still remote enough that we didn't have lots of noise from neighbors. It was big enough that the kids were able to have a good time playing hide and seek and got plenty of exercise going up or down the stairs.
