“"Olivia Perfect"”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2014

"Olivia Perfect" After spending the month of September, 2014, in the Olivia apartment, we decided that the more apt name would be "Olivia Perfect." It did not take long for us to feel at home in this charming apartment, especially after being greeted by the welcoming and friendly owner, Angela, whose children were there to lug our large suitcases up the five flights of stairs for us. Angela not only gave us a thorough tour of the apartment upon our arrival, but also provided us with a welcome basket, which included spaghetti and sauce to fix for dinner, cookies, coffee, bread, jam, and juice for breakfast the next day, and a bottle of Chianti to boot! This was very thoughtful and most appreciated after our overnight flight. Over the course of our 28 nights in the "Olivia Perfect," we came to fully appreciate its many amenities and Angela's lovely taste, including the well-equipped kitchen (with both American and Italian coffee makers, I might add), lovely decor with pictures and paintings of Florence, embroidered sheets, comfortable sofa for reading and relaxing, air conditioning, washer AND dryer, and the ultimate feature--TWO bathrooms--one for each of us! Not only were we delighted by the interior of the apartment, but the location proved to be ideal for us. The Ponte Vecchio was a five minute walk and the furthest tourist sight only 30 minutes away on foot. We were very pleased that we chose the Oltrarno area, which, at the end of the day, provided a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the Florence city center. We cannot thank Angela enough for providing such a cozy and comfortable place, and to Pat of Italy Perfect for making it all happen. They thought of everything! The "Olivia Perfect" was such a perfect fit for the two of us that, not long after returning home, we decided to go back to Florence and stay for a month again next year. We have recently booked our stay at the Olivia, where we are sure we will fall in love with Florence all over again

Response from the manager Thank you very much for your kind review! We are thrilled to hear you will be retuning again next year! The Italy Perfect Team

“We loved our stay at Olivia!”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2014

Stay at Olivia Jul 2014 We loved out stay at Olivia. The owner's son, Niccolo met us at the apartment, graciously showed us around, and presented us with a generous welcome basket full of items to tide us over until we could get to the store. The apartment was clean, well furnished and very comfortable. We spent a total of 5 nights at Olivia and wish it could have been more. We easily walked to all the tourist destinations and shopping. My husband is an early riser and would go out for a walk before the rest of us woke up returning with the most wonderful breads and pastries from the many little shops located close by. There was also a grocery reasonably close by to purchase items to make our stay more homey. We also took a wine tasting tour to the nearby Chianti region from a wine tasting school located about 4 blocks from the apartment that we would definitely recommend. If we ever visit Florence again, I would definitely stay at Olivia. We would also rely on Italy Perfect to help us locate a place to stay if we ever go to one of their locations. They were extremely helpful with directions and advice. This was our first trip to Europe, and we would have definitely been lost without them. A word of advice to any novice travelers (such a ourselves) is to be mentally prepared for a hectic arrival to Florence. As forewarned by Italy Perfect personnel, Florence is not car friendly and not the preferred way to arrive to the city. However, our circumstances for the rest of the trip required that we have a vehicle. After dealing with traffic, locating acceptable longterm parking, dragging our luggage through some "wrong turns", and seeing some less than desirable situations, I was a bit frazzled and doubting our decision to stay in the historic area. However, once we reached the apartment, it was all worth it! I would definitely do it again and recommend the experience to others.

Response from the manager Thank you so much for your review! As you noted, you can't beat that location and the dining and eating possibilities in the area are super. Italy Perfect

We were looking for a spot in Florence that would be close to the action but away from too much noise ... Tough call! With the help of Pat at Italy Perfect (I am a big fan of Pat), we booked Olivia on via San Spirito. It was perfect! The apartment itself is lovely and has two levels which gave the four of us a little privacy, and two baths, one up and one down-- it handled four ladies' needs to a T. The kitchen is very adequate, the decor, lovely. The location put us close to ponte Vecchio, the Boboli gardens, as it is just one short block south of the River. There are a couple of great restaurants on the street and a tiny, well-stocked grocery store just a few yards away... I would absolutely recommend it!!! The only thing is the climb to the fourth floor, but once you are up there, it is so worth it ;-) Did I say that the owners were most accommodating?

Response from the manager Thank you so much, Catherine. I would say please come again, but you are returning to Florence!

“Great stay in Olivia!”

Reviewed 13 May 2013

We agree with all the positive comments of earlier reviews. The Olivia was roomy, sunny, clean and full of the owner's attention to detail. We loved staying in the Oltrarno neighborhood, on the safe, quiet street with lots of artisan shops and restaurants. The owner was a gracious, attentive host.

Response from the manager Thank you for nice comments. We are pleased you had a good stay. The Italy Perfect Team.

“Home away from home!”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2012

The Olivia apartment was perfect for our stay in Florence. Unlike most other visitors, we were able to stay for almost 3 months! Olivia became like home for us and was a great base while we took cooking classes at the local In Tavola cooking school, discovered Florence, and also visited many other wonderful cities in Italy. The location was perfect and very easy to find our way back from wherever our ventures took us. It was close to many great restaurants and shops, our cooking school, markets and even the train station was just a short walk. There were quite a few stairs to get up to the apartment, but with all of the walking we did, they became easier and easier. Angela, the owner, and her husband couldn't have been nicer and were very helpful on arrival and all throughout our stay. All we had to do was email a question or concern and she was on it. Having 2 bathrooms was wonderful and also a washer/dryer, although it didn't live up to the models we have here in the states, it served us well. Most other rentals only had washers. The best thing about Olivia though is the location in the Oltrarno district of Florence. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to future visitors.

Response from the manager It was a pleasure to provide your home in Florence!

“Wonderful location and great experience!”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2012

The Olivia apartment is a great choice as a base in Florence. It's cozy and charming. The location on Via di Santo Spirito is very convenient near many excellent cafes, restaurants, and food shops. I was glad we were on the quieter Oltrano side of the river which I thought was much nicer, more local, and a lot more peaceful than the other side which is more crowded and touristy. This was an ideal location. The apartment itself is nicely furnished, cozy, and comfortable. The service at check in was excellent. It was our anniversary and we were given extra treats including beautiful flowers and a bottle of wine. I appreciated the welcome basket of coffee, jams, and crackers. This is a very nice touch to the apartment and makes guests feel welcome right away. It's a beautiful historic building. In the area, I especially liked the Piazza della Passera and Piazza Santo Spirito. There are many nice restaurants just within a few minutes walk from the apartment. Great location! While in Florence, I recommend taking a wine tasting class at the Tuscan Wine School (just near the Olivia apartment), dining at 4 Leoni at the Piazza della Passera (also near the apartment), and taking a day trip in a vintage Fiat 500 with the 500 Touring Club. All were great experiences.

“Exactly as Described”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2011

We enjoyed our stay in the Olivia apartment. The owner and her husband met us at the apartment and helped us carry our luggage up to the 4th floor. The stairs were no problem at all. They were just a good warm-up for all the stairs we would climb during the day visiting museums, etc. The apartment is exactly as described. We especially appreciated the artwork on the walls. Having two bathrooms made it easier to get out early in the morning. The location could not be more convenient. The restaurants in the neighborhood are good, but you have to go late if you want to be in the company of some Italians and not just other visitors. The best food shops are on the Via de' Bardi beyond the Ponte Vecchio. We discovered them too late in our stay. We hope to return to Florence and would definitely use Italy Perfect again. They met and exceeded our expectations.

“Perfect vacation rental in a prime location.”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2010

Olivia is a great apartment situated just across the river from central Florence. The apartment is clean and tidy with good quality furnishings and all the conveniences of home. The apartment also came a number of items that made the stay comfortable - little things like paper towels and coffee filters as well as a welcome basket with goodies. Location of this property really couldn't be better. A five minute walk gets you into the town and there are literally a dozen great restaurants within a few minutes walk. We ate at several on the same street and had great experiences with each. The apartment is not recommended for those who would have trouble going up/down stairs as there are several flights involved. Even the fit amongst us would find them somewhat tiring, however by mid- week we were used to them. The owners were charming and very happy to help with logistics. We would definitely consider staying there again should we end up back in Florence. The service through Italy Perfect was great and very painless. The information sheets provided with your reservation give a good introduction to the town and the country and contain useful information.

“highly recommended!”

My husband and I stayed at this apartment for 2 nights last year and were most impressed with the cleanliness, the decor and the well-equipped kitchen. The location is excellent, near the Duomo, directly across from the museum housing the statue of David with shops for groceries, souvenirs and delightful restaurants 5 minutes walk away. The air conditioning was welcome during the heat of July and the owner who greeted us was most helpful with her suggestions. We recommend it highly!

Response from the manager We are so pleased this guest enjoyed the apartment which is actually about a 12-14 minute walk to the Duomo & the Accademia which houses the David.

“Lovely, lovely Olivia”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2009

Our stay at "Olivia" in Florence was absolute perfection. We were greeted personally by Angela, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The apartment itself is beautifully appointed and is a stone's throw from all the major and minor attractions in the city. The fifth floor was a bit daunting at first, but we began to enjoy climbing the stairs, as it burned off all the extra calories from the fabulous food and wine! Having two bathrooms and an air conditioner was the best, though. "Olivia" will forever have a special place in our hearts as we became engaged at the steps of Il Duomo. So we have given it some good karma. Ciao, Bella!
