Beach path to lovely hanalei bay just feet away.. Perfect for a weekly escape. We've rented several homes in the area over more than 10 years and this home sits perfectly mid weke rd. the only complaints we have is the house had no ceiling fans and the tiny tower fans did little to cool the place off. Very hot indoors! And the veranda should be built out to enjoy more outdoor space .. And the sliding screen was bent and broken upon arrival w handle missing. And the bathroom smelled like animal urine but there was glade on hand ;)
Extremely close to the beach, just across the lane.
“Lovely house in an ideal location: steps from Hanalei bay!!”
My husband, son, and I--along with another couple and their two daughters--recently returned to Washington state after having spent an entire week on Kauai. We rented Ka Hale Lehua from June 24, 2013 to July 01, 2013 and had a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful time! This was actually mine and my husband's third time renting Ka Hale Lehua: - The first was September 2000 when we got married on Hanalei Bay (and our wedding reception was a catered event under a big white tent on the front lawn of Ka Hale Lehua) - The 2nd time was September 2004 when we brought our then 10 month old son for a week's stay at Ka Hale Lehua - The 3rd time was a couple of weeks ago Each time we call more and more in love with the place as it holds a very special place in our hearts and we will continue renting this lovely home in its ideal location in the future. The home was clean and orderly; there were boogie boards for the kids (and adults who behaved like kids) and new beach chairs and beach mats for those whose liked sitting on the beach or laying out. In short, the house came fully equipped. A few suggestions to the property owners: The purchase of a sun tent or umbrella that guest can take to the beach would be a welcomed addition along with an easy to carry cooler. The sun can be very intense and brutal and I don't know what we would have done without the two sun tents and collapsible coolers that we brought with us :o) And lastly: the bed downstairs guest room (next to bathroom) had a slope in it. May be time to replace it? Fabulous house! We'll be back! The Syversens
“Lovely island, lovely home, lovely beach, easy walk to town”
This is a lovely home on a lovely lot - beautiful trees, flowers, singing birds, view of the mountains, path to the beach right across the street, easy walk to town. Do not miss the farmer's market on Saturday. Nice slat windows that provided ventilation (island breeze!) Beautiful wood floors and ceiling. Great water pressure in showers. There is a lot of parking on the street in front of the house, though the house is set back from street. Almost all were surfers and were quiet and wonderful to watch. This is not a negative, just an observation. I wish I were there now! Kauai is not an inexpensive place to visit. Groceries and restaurants are very expensive, but the beaches are free and beautiful. We saved by doing a lot of cooking "at home." We budgeted for the trip and felt it was worth what we paid. The "value" rating for any vacation is up to the individual.
House was great. Short walk to beach and away from the public beach parks. Walking distance to town. Needs to have new beach chairs provided. All were old and broken.
“Wonderful view! Wonderful beach access!”
The two minute walk to Hanalei Bay down the beach access directly across from the home made the beach right in "our front yard"! We ate every meal at "home" seated on the back deck gazing at the mountains and waterfalls. We missed the mountains when we returned to Oregon! The loft bedroom was comfortable for sleeping, even on warm days, because of the excellent ventilation system. We enjoyed the ten minute walks to Hanalei. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share your home! We'll be back, with family!
“Perfect Kauai Vacation Spot”
Growing up on Oahu I've been to Kauai many times and Hanalei is by far my favorite spot. Now living in la with my fiance I wanted to show her and two other couples that we are friends with the Hawaii that I know and love. We wanted to get as close to Hanalei Bay as possible and a friend of mine recommended that I check out this house. The location is perfect, across the street from the beach access in the center of the bay. Because it is in the center, away from the public parking, there were only one or two local families with in forty yards of us on the beach. The house is a 3 minute walk from Hanalei town and about a 20-minute drive from hiking the Na Pali Cost. Couldn't have asked for a better house for the price. Would recommend it to anyone going to Kauai.
“Paradise on a Tropical Island”
The home was a dream for our family of 5, with room to spare. The location was perfect, with the beach and town within walking distance. The service at Napali was exceptional and professional. The house was warm, inviting, and played a huge role in completing our Kauai dream vacation.
“Great location next to beach; comfortable house”
This is the second time we have stayed at Ka Hale Lehua and our 10th time to Hanalei in as many years. We love Hanalei town and the beach and northern Kauai in general. This house has a great location and is reasonably priced for this area. The great things about this house (and the reason we rented it again) are the location (near town, very close to Hanalei Bay), the views of the waterfalls out the back, the lot, the family friendliness of the house, and the reasonable price. The downsides are that the home itself could use some TLC. It is clean, but the mustiness of the cupboards make all the dishes smell bad. There is quite a lot of junk (broken beach chairs, boogey boards, paint cans) underneath the home which could be a hazard, the CD player doesn't work, a boombox barely worked... . It would be really nice if a couple of boogie boards and some sand mats were provided. We had many wasps come into the house one day, but the rental agency responded quickly to that issue. There is some new flooring which is nice and the new TV is a great upgrade from last time. Even though this house has some issues we would rent it again.
“Great House - Loved It”
Ka Hale Lehua was near perfect: wonderful location for both the beach and town, well appointed, beautiful immediate surroundings. We'll definitely want to stay there again. Only suggestion: needs a new refrigerator - old one works but doesn't keep liquids cold enough.
