“a week on the north shore”
The misses and I spent a week on the North shore in a condo at the Hanalei Bay villas. Very nice. Good location. Nice facility. good view. Good parking. Good rental company. 3 bedrooms downstairs. 2-1/4 bath. Unit was clean. We'll be returning there.
Well equipped home in Princeville - I can't imagine staying in the St. Regis Hotel (walking distance away) when you have so much space and privacy in this condo. Walk to beach. Adjacent to golf course. Comfortable bedrooms. Beautiful kitchen. We used the outdoor electric grill frequently.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in HBV #17 and will definitely do so again! The kitchen was fantastic---we enjoyed the upgraded appliances to the max as we cooked most nights in the bungalow. The electric barbecue worked great as well, even in the worst rain! While our stay in Princeville was one of the wettest ones we've experienced (36 hours of rain during one period), we still had a blast. The balcony view of the 3d hole at Makai and Hanalei Bay is fabulous. Beds were comfortable and there were ample towels/linens/toiletries. We took the advice of a previous occupant and checked the pantry before we shopped. It was well stocked which we appreciated. Washer/dryer were a little noisy but adequate. Thank you again:)
“Great Hanalei location”
From our balcony we could see a portion of Hanalei Bay, and we were just a block away from the St. Regis. It is a great location for a stay on the north shore. The unit is very comfortable with a well-appointed kitchen. We loved the variety of wild birds that visited our balcony, and watching the nene on the golf course below. We are not golfers, so the sounds of groundskeepers before dawn was somewhat annoying, but we eventually got used to it.

The Hanalei Bay Villas are so perfect that they are hard to describe. The sights sounds and smells are of perfection.
“Great Location with Unforgettable Scenery”
We had a wonderful week(10/19-10/26)at HBV#17 and will come back in summer time (surf is low on north shore for better snorkeling). The layered scenery(golf course, Hanalei bay,& Makana mountains)is our daily breakfast treat! In the evening, we enjoyed the moving cloud while cool off in the breeze. This cozy unit had been renovated so all the appliance are working(noisy washer/dryer though). More photos are at realtor website www.napaliprop.com/hbv17.html. The unit can comfortably sleep four adults or more with kid willing to share the full size beds. Over the years, it has accumulated a lot of stuff in the unit. Do an inventory check (pantry and storage) before shopping! It is conveniently located at the end of main road next to St. Regis resort. You can 1. Walk to left to St. Regis resort beach (a well maintained concrete stair path down to a family beach) 2. Cross the street to the trail head (next to the tennis court) to the gem Hideaway Beach. This trail is short but the trail is challenging (not for kids!) and pick a dry day (no overnight rain) and wear good grip shoe. I recommend at least to walk to a great North Shore vista point (no rail guard though) right before the steep down tail. 3. Drive about 3 minutes (turn at Punakele road)to Queen's Bath trail. Do some Google deep research on Queen's Bath before going to this spot! 4. Limahuli Valley vista point right across the Princeville shopping center on the main HWY. 5. Hanalei Bay is about 15+ minute drive further down on HWY 560. We find more choices of dine-out meals in the Hanalei town. Since you are on north shore, you have plenty time to explore every little breath-taking beach on the north shores. Parking shortage is always a problem at these beaches (limited by private property around the beach. But, you can easily beat the crowd from east and south side of island and make sure rent a SUV to overcome the unpaved parking lot with many deep holes!
The place was really nice, clean and well stocked. The view is really nice overlooking the golf course and partial ocean view. Overall we were really happy. My only complaint was that the dishwasher was broken. On previous reviews I read it stated there were issues with the dishwasher so I was surprised that it hadn't been fixed/replaced already. Washing by hand really wasn't an issue though. Overall, great place.
Response from the manager Aloha to our guests-We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay despite that lack of a dishwasher. We had it checked out and now have to replace it-and it is now on order-so unfortunately meanwhile handwashing the dishes is required. Kauai does not have appliances readily available like other places-so we can only replace these items as fast a possible- We hope that you will make a return visit-from the Management of NaPali Properties Inc.. July 1st-new update-the new dishwasher will be installed on July 8th- we have to accept this island time-line for all appliances on order-especially with only one company to purchase them from-
“Beautiful view but furniture & bed comfort poor”
We have stayed in two other units like this in the past but this one is the least desirable. Wonderful view but low on comfort. The dishwasher was not working properly. The clothes washer needs maintenance as it was squeaking badly. The overhead fan in the living room squeaked. The door stops in a couple of the rooms need replacing and should be secured more firmly. The basin plug in the second bathroom downstairs was broken. The furniture needs better cushions that fit as we were constantly adjusting them because they would slide forward. The beds were not comfortable suggest new mattrasses. Thanks for providing the accessories for the beach. The price is right. The cleaning service might be checked into because the floor was not very clean and had some evidence of sand still on it when we arrived and we notified the property manager of this, the dishwasher and the bathroom sink. There were ample linens and kitchen utensils and the cupboards were clean & organized. The closets had an awful lot of large storage items. Some upgrades are sorely needed.
Response from the manager Aloha to our guests-We appreciate your feedback on this rental and always want to hear from our guests. The dishwasher and the washer both had recently been serviced so we were surprised to hear about problems. The living room furniture is a futon type and made from big bamboo so the cushions are loose and maybe not to everyones liking even tho they are tropical looking. We will pass on your suggestions to the owners and want to thank you again for letting us know about any problems you experienced. We are not staying in these properties so the only way we know good or negative experiences is to hear from our guests-Mahalo!
“Very Bad Service”
To the owners, you have a nice place. But you need to get rid of Na Pali Properties as managers! The second day I was there I was taking a nap and woke to find a service repairman [ who used the lock box key] in the hall out side of the master bedroom. Your managers did not think it necessary to contact me. This really upset me. When asked to be compensated for ruining my day they didn't even bother to get back to me. Then the last night I was there the dryer quit. I notified the mangers and again heard nothing back from them. Nothing like being walked in on while sleeping and then taking wet laundry home from your vacation. After 26 years in the hospitality business I would not trust these people!
Response from the manager We're so sorry this guest had a disappointing experience. The previous guest reported the broken dryer the same day this guest checked in. The repairman went to the unit to make the repair, knocked loudly, entered the unit and yelled loudly again, with no response-then proceeded to work thinking it was vacant. He did the repairs-the guest woke up-this was unfortunate-we apologized. We didn't hear from this guest again because he left a message on our office phone late at night before he left, he didn't use our emergency number. We weren't able to help him at that point. We are giving him back a night of rent, that was supposed to have been communicated to the guest. We thank the guest for pointing out the interoffice communication failure. And we apologise again.
Awesome service. great people to work with. The unit itself the key pad was very hard to work and needs replacing to get the the key to get into the house. air condition would make it a place to come back to as just was to warm at night. Found dead bugs in several of the kitchen drawers and in the freg. Made it hard to want to eat there. The furniture could be replaced as was warn out.
