“Great Home In Hanalei”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2014

This was the third year in a row I rented this home for my family. My four year old thinks it "his" house in Kauai. Great location with short walking distance to town and beach. (Grocery store is a 5 minute walk in case you forgot to to buy something at Costco in Lihue.) Home is extremely comfortable and well designed and decorated. House is fairly new and kept up very well with all modern conveniences. We love to cook and the kitchen has everything you need. Quiet neighborhood cul de sac location makes it ideal and safe for kids to play and chase chickens.

“A lovely retreat in Hanalei”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2014

We spent a week in Hanalei at Kainoa. It is a lovely house, filled with interesting hawaiian and pacific art and artifacts. The house has 4 bedrooms (one is smaller and has trundle beds). It is well furnished and the kitchen and bathrooms are really well done. It is on a quiet street about a 5 minute walk from the beach and a bit less to the center of town. From the back lanai it looks over a small river and beautiful trees and foliage. It has a real feeling of calmness. The only downside that I would note is that if you have small children it would need a few minutes of moving decorations and artifacts out of reach before you start. We loved the house and would rent it again. Although the beach is relatively close if you are mobility challenged you might consider a house closer to the beach. My wife has bad knees and rented a bike which worked out great.

“Just beautiful”

The Kainoa house exceeded our expectations in every way. The house is much bigger than we imagined with plenty of room for all 8 of us. The views were gorgeous, the neighborhood quite, and so very convenient! Walk every where in Hanalei. Will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Hanalei.

“Nice neighbourhood, plenty of room”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2013

Nice and very roomy house in a cul de sac walking distance from Hanalei centre and beach. Papio Pl is a tiny neighbourhood of its own, kids skateboarding and biking, dogs and cats visiting. House has a very good and rather well equipped kitchen. Some nights the music from nearby restaurants is somewhat loud.

“A Little Slice of Paradise”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2010

Two families shared this house and it worked well. The location was perfect as we were able to walk to shops and restaurants, to the beach, to church, etc. The outdoor shower was fantastic after a day at the beach. The cul-de-sac was fun for the kids to play games. We enjoyed eating fresh papaya from the backyard tree as well as viewing the variety of birds from the back lanai. One highlight was seeing the double rainbow out the front window. The house was quite hot in the afternoons, so we wished we had had more fans in the kitchen/dining area, but the house always cooled off by the evening (especially if it rained). The front bedroom was exposed to the nightlife noise in town, but thankfully that died down before midnight. Overall, it was a very nice vacation house for our extended family. Mahalo!

“Great for large families or multiple couples”

Great location off busy street, quiet. Need access to garage for parking and beach chairs etc. Have rented O'Hana and had many beach items available.

“Our best vacation rental”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2009

We've been coming to Hanalei for almost 20 years and the Kainoa home was the best rental we've ever had. It's well-equipped with a fine kitchen, beautifully and tastefully furnished and provides both private areas and great common space. It's well-located, close to shopping, restaurants and groceries and a quick walk to the beach. Yet it's also very quiet.

“A great vacation rental!”

This is a great home, with beautiful wood floors, nice furnishings, wonderful native carvings and artworks, gourmet kitchen, beautiful waterfall views from the lanai. The beds are super comfy and one of the master suites has a wonderful jacuzzi bathtub and double headed shower. The bedroom not pictured when we rented has a pair of twin beds decorated in an island theme suitable for all ages and is just as nice as those pictured. The laundry room has a nice HE Washer/Dryer which was great after adventurous activities. Hanalei town is just 2 blocks away and the beach about 4 blocks, easy walks on un-busy streets. The town is small, and casual, only a few blocks long, but packed with places to eat, rent gear, do yoga, pickup souveniers or native artworks (check out Havaiki behind Bubba Burger). This house's location was great for our teens who like to get out independently. From Hanalei it's a short and beautiful drive to the NaPali coast for hiking, snorkeling and the caves, and a short drive the opposite way to Priceville for ziplining, horseback riding, kayaking and other shopping/dining options or a bit farther to Annini beach which is also very pretty. By comparison, we spent one night in a mega-hotel in Poipu at the end of our trip to explore the south side of the island and while the cost was the same, it was no comparison. We were spoiled by the beautiful home, relaxed vibe and affordable casual dining in Hanalei and recommend this rental highly. A great house in a great location on a beautiful island.

“Just lovely, Beautiful home.”
