“Lovely Place to Stay”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2016

Riko Hale is really a lovely place to stay. The very comfortable and expansive bed was a luxury, the kitchen was well stock with utensils and equipment to make life easier include a great rice cooker. A teeny improvement would be to add a toaster. Best of all was the covered deck helping to create a pleasant draft through the house, but the pretty and private garden was a close second. With just a short walk to Tunnels beach and a great Mediterranean restaurant made it perfect.

Response from the manager Thank you for your kind review-we love to hear from our guests and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay- Mahalo!

“Riko Hale, J5-7364 A Kuhio Highway (Haena), Hanalei 96714”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2015

Riko Hale is a beautiful and very clean vacation home only a 3 minutes walk away from a beach where you can snorkel with 15 sea turtles at once. Here are some facts: - pickup and dropoff the house-key at Na Pali Properties in Hanalai outside the business hours without any problems - 15 minutes drive from Hanalei (shops, restaurants) to Riko Hale - house and garden are 40 meters away from Kuhio Highway behind another estate: very quiet - there are two gates at the street (see streetview): the right one opens the way to Riko Hale - not direct at the beach (see description of the house) - two bedrooms: one bedroom with a king size bed (see pictures of the house) and one bedroom with two single beds - inside bathroom with combined bathtub and shower, washbasin and WC, hair-dryer - outside shower (hot and cold water) and outside WC - washing machine and tumble dryer (outside beside the front door under a roof) - fully equipped kitchen (but no dishwasher) is in the same room with the living room (see house-pictures) - large veranda/porch with fly screens - fly screens at every window - no air conditioners but many fans/ventilators - barbecue grill behind the house beside the veranda under a roof, so don't forget the charcoal and the insect repellent - two keys for the front door (for the gate at the street you need no key): two groups can individually leave and come back to the house - free internet access (wifi) (bandwidth quick enough for skype) - flat screen with cable tv - the mobile phone network coverage is not very good: You have to go outside the house on the gateway to the street to make a phone call (or use Skype inside the house) Hope these informations are useful for someone...

“We love Riko Hale!!”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2014

Our family of four (kids ages 8 and 13) returned to Riko Hale for a second stay. It had been five years since our first visit and we all had very fond memories of Kauai and Riko Hale. We were not disappointed. The house was just as remembered it -- comfortable, well equipped (except for a spatula!), and a beautiful yard and garden. We love the secluded location and the proximity to Tunnels Beach. We stocked up on groceries before we arrived so we were able to spend several days without driving further than Kee Beach. Enjoyed the luau at Mediterranean Gourmet and toured the Limahuili gardens (near Kee Beach). Don't forget charcoal for the grill!

“Perfect holiday for our family!”

We stayed at Riko Hale for 5 weeks with two little children. With the beautiful garden, the proximity to the beach and the spacious living room it was perfect for us. It was convenient to have an outdoor shower. We would highly recommend Riko Hale for a relaxed and quiet holiday!

“How Could You Not Enjoy This House”

Reviewed 16 May 2013

We stayed at Riko Hale in late april and it was wonderful. The house was simple yet it had everything that we needed and it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the screened-in lanai was a perfect place for eating or napping. Opening the windows and doors let the breeze in and kept the house cool. The yard was lush and beautiful with the Plumeria and Orchids being my favorite. The lot is surrounded by tall bushes that ensured privacy. The mountain views from the back yard were awesome. Watching the clouds shroud the mountain is great photography. The flag lot has a driveway that sets the house about 100' from the road which kept the noise to a minimum and you can hear the ocean from inside the house. Since there are only about 30 homes to the west of Riko Hale traffic at night was rare. Not having any street lights in the area was great for watching the stars. The beach is a short five minute walk and Tunnels Beach is only a 10-15 minute walk. Beach walks at low tide in the morning was very nice. The cool air and watching the sunrise to the east was pretty tough to beat. I saw sand crabs and a few eels on my stroll and even had one of neighborhood dogs walk with me on most mornings. When we had walked beyond her comfort zone, she would whine a little and then wonder back home. When we researched where to stay, we knew that we didn't want a resort or condo. To get a house so close to the water on the north shore when the ocean is calm, weather is good, during the off season was really a perfect storm in my opinion. Driving to the other parts of the island required some time and planning but the secluded feel you get when you are in Haena is sooo worth it. Now back to our normal lives and dream/plan for the next visit. At least we know where we will stay.

“Clean, Comfortable & Great Location!”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2013

The pictures don't do this stay justice. Set off the main road, Riko Hale is a private and peaceful stay surrounded by a beautiful garden. Comfortable king size bed in main with soft linens, great main living space and cute outdoor shower and toilet (there's an indoor one too). Love the lanai, spent much time hanging with our 6 month old there. 10 min walk to our favourite beach on the entire island, where it's more secluded and private. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“We had a great time!”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

Riko Hale is a comfortable, clean, well maintained cottage, set back from the road. The yard is lovely and private because it's surrounded by foliage. The cottage has a full kitchen, and linens are supplied. It is a short walk from Tunnels beach, with a beautiful backyard view of the mountains. The lanai is spacious and the bed is comfy. The grill, washer and dryer are a plus. Na Pali properties was easy to work with.

“Great Family Vacation”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2012

We rented this place for my father's 60th birthday because although he grew in Oahu he always said Kauai was the most beautiful island. He loved the Riko Hale house and said the house reminded him of the house he stayed in the first time he ever visited to Kauai over 40 years ago! It was clean and very private. the mountain view was great and every night we ate dinner on the Lanai. Truly a gem of a place

“relaxation at it's best!”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2012

We were so happy when we arrived, it couldn't have been more perfect! The screened in patio was so nice to have, we spent most of our time while in the house enjoying this room. We loved walking to the beaches, and being so close to hiking the kalalau trail. The north shore is our favorite part of the Island, we were blessed with no rain during our stay which is almost unheard of. The house got a bit warm in the afternoon, but it certainly was unbearable, we just opened the windows and used the fans, and most of the time we were out and about. The kitchen had everything we needed, it has a bathtub, which I wasn't expecting, the outdoor shower was awesome! The bed was comfortable, a huge plus for me! We enjoyed this cozy spot and will come again!

“Wonderful, old hawaii style comfort”

Really love the north shore. Rico Hale was private with spacious yard. Furnished comfortably and clean. Great deal. Love the outside shower, just like home. Perfect neighborhood for walking around or minutes to the beach.
