“Good view, Hard beds”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

Smoke detector next to wood burning fireplace went off whenever we built fire in fireplace. Stinkbugs were everywhere. Bugs came out of jets when jacuzzi was turned on. Mattresses were extremely firm and hard to sleep on. No good frying pan to cook breakfast -- had to go purchase one.

Response from the manager Thanks very much for the feedback. When building a fire in a fireplace some smoke may flow into the house briefly at first due an initial lack of draw in the chimney. This can, and should cause the alarms to alert. Once the chimney heats up the issue should resolve itself. Please let us know as soon as possible the next time you have any housekeeping needs. Our staff is available seven days a week at a moments notice and we stock new replacement kitchen supplies in the event they are needed.

“Once You Get There”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2013

A magnificent view, and comfortable home...but farthest away from main lodge and barns. Perfect for a get-away, but not so perfect if tending horses and driving a big pickup on narrow winding private roads. A dead roach under the toaster, and several black ants sort of skeeved me out. And I did not like having to strip beds, start laundry, and take trash down to the dumpster as we left. Surely, that could be included in the rental price!

“Can't wait to return!”

Reviewed 25 May 2012

Horseshoe Ridge is part of the Leatherwood Mountain community, an wonderfully executed equestrian-oriented development. We rented only the two bedroom home and can only comment on that. Our stay was in conjunction with attending Merlefest the last week of april. The home is small, but very nicely done and maintained. It could use some updating of appliances, etc., but is very comfortable. The furnishings are comfortable and tasteful. The location is to die for -- very private, easily accessible. The views are absolutely magnificent off the covered porch or really from any part of the property. As with any rural vacation home, we found the usual bugs, etc. -- even a dead mouse in the bathtub upon our arrival. This is the only criticism we would offer about the management firm: It didn't appear anyone had visited the property for several days before our arrival. Other than that, everybody we met or spoke with associated with Leatherwood Rentals and our experience booking with them was wonderful. No complaints at all and we would highly recommend them. Being from Oregon and having two homes in forested settings ourselves, we were awestruck by the beauty of the surroundings and the mountains. It was difficult to spot roads, other homes, etc. except for nighttime lights -- a treat we don't get much of anymore on the West Coast. The Leatherwood development was done right. We can't wait to return. We just fell in love with the area and the people we met there. If only it were closer...
