Description from owner
Description
West Burton, arguably one of the most beautiful villages in England is situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is only a mile from Aysgarth Falls.
There are many walks around West Burton, which has its own waterfall, shown below, and lies in a deep valley between Walden Dale, Bishopdale and Wensleydale. Its central location makes it an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the Dales.
The village itself offers peace and tranquillity yet still has The Fox and Hounds pub (500 yards away), butchers shop and Post Office cum general store all overlooking the village green. The green encompasses an ancient market cross and stocks as well as wooden bench seats for the benefit of those wishing just to sit and enjoy the scenery.
The stream had the highest recorded numbers of salmonoids (baby salmon) in the UK in 2011.Presumably only seen at a certain time of year as I have never seen a fish never mind a salmon.
Parking is outside the Mill and there are attractive drives and walks North,South East and West. from the Mill. There is only one bus a day and it is many miles to the nearest railway station.

“Charming Location”
As the name suggests, located on the river banks, close to a waterfall, in a quiet charming village. Facilities in the village are limited, but why else would you go for a country break? Apartment is spacious, and includes everything you need for a break in the Dales. Access is via a flight of stairs. Communications with the owners is excellent, and directions are precise. Ample walking and cycling routes are close by, with a friendly Pub a short walk away.

Response from the owner Delighted with your comments Susannah. Thank you very much.Susannah had travelled over some months from Australia and I promised her a light dusting of snow at West Burton. It appeared! Cannot promise such accurate weather forecasts in future but whatever the weather West Burton is a gem set in the heart of the dales. Thank you again Malcolm

“Relaxed stay in pretty and peaceful location.”
The old Mill is tucked into the corner of a very pretty and well kept village. There is no passing traffic, and the only sounds we heard were birdsong and water tumbling past the old mill race. The re… More

Response from the owner Adrian, Thank you very much for your lovely review of the flat. The new windows make the flat have a much cleaner feel - it was impossible to keep the old wooden ones clean - it is a pity about reducing the waterfall sound which has been described as soporific! I do appreciate you going to the trouble of writing a review and I am so pleased you were happy with your stay. Best regards and hope you will stay again. Malcolm

“Cosy , picturesque location”
What a wonderful place to stay . The apartment was clean and tidy with all we needed . Literally on the door step ( 200 yards) were the start of 2 lovely walks we did both as short or as long as we wanted . Local pub was friendly but only visited once as we just relaxed and ate in . The sound of the waterfall when waking up in bed was magical ( trust me it wasn't too loud) Will definatley return for another visit .

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your great review. West Burton is an idyllic location and the Mill sitting between the waterfall the village centre is a great spot. I would thank Jelena who handles the change over for me and makes sure the apartment is clean tidy and homely. As you say a range of walks start at the Mill and this includes a five minute one to the Fox and Hounds! Thank you again Malcolm
