“Riddled with code violations and post it notes taped to the wall; perfect for throwing money away”
Two childhood friends and I take a trip to a different mountain every year. For our 2016 trip we decided on beautiful Breckenridge Colorado and stayed at the Trails End 212 with Great Western Lodging. The booking process was simple and rate was reasonable. There was some pressure for us into taking a timeshare tour to save money, we decided to spend extra money so we wouldn't have to deal with the 2 hour sales meeting/related stress. Once we arrived to the rental, it looked exactly as it does in the photos, right on. As we looked around the unit, we noticed hand written, yellow, sun faded post it notes; scotch taped to all of the walls with directions on how to use the unit. They had been there for sometime and, even the reasonable price we paid for the unit, the post it notes made it feel like we were in a cheap, crappy apartment in NYC. One of the post it notes was directed to the heating elements of the unit and where it was to be set. The unit was hot when we arrived, so we turned the thermostat to off completely and went about our business as usual. Despite all their expertly designed signage, our fireplace turned on in the middle of the night, and burnt a sofa cushion that was 5 feet away from this. We woke up in the middle of the night with fire alarms going off screaming, WHAT THE HELL?! Something I feel most people would have too. We screwed with the only thermostat we could find and I called the 24/7 response number provided. Everything was fine, we cracked a sliding door and the smell/haze was gone in less than 30 seconds. The next day a representative from Great western came by to see after knowing what happened. No problem. Well, we must have missed a post it note, because their is a second thermostat that controls the fireplace..... behind a lamp....in between two book shelves...behind this wooden statue thing. This was infuriating. Ultimately it was our fault for the sofa cushion, per the rental agreement. OK. We paid to replace it and didn't complain. I brought up several code violations (electric base board being powered by extension cords and not hardwired) and that really didn't matter to them. They feel their post it notes are good enough. The place in its whole is a sham. While the Great Western lodgings "check in" building is nice and well kept, evidence is their that they do not care them same about their rentals or keeping their customers safe. The details matter, code violations matter, will never be back.
“Great place to stay”
The condo was at a great place with true ski in & out. Had all the amenities needed. Only con is the two sofas need to be replaced. Other than that I would highly recommend staying there.
Response from the manager Dear Jones: Thank you for your review of Trails End #212! We always like to hear from our guests and this is great information for us to make sure that our units are getting the attention needed and guest’s are experiencing exceptional customer service. I have shared this review with the owner to make sure they are aware of the state of the sofas and good news – the owners are looking at a possible replacement this summer! Thank you for noting this and it is great to see these improvements, as this unit recently just had a new HD flatscreen television in the living room, a flatscreen television in the bedroom, as well as a new mattress in the bedroom installed! Please let me know if there is anything I can assist with for your next trip to Breckenridge! Sincerely, V. Peyton Rogers Director of Sales Great Western Lodging Peyton@gwlodging.com
“Exelent appartment - Recomended”
The appartment was Exelent, with all kind of appliances, and very clean. The Great Western Lodging personnel was efficient, they answer quickly to all my question prior my arrival.
“Excellent alternative - A good experience”
Ryan did an excellent job of moving us into a unit with Internet Service. He went above and beyond to assist us as my grandson had to have the computer. Excellent location.
“Comfortable and convenient location”
Very good location for the lift, short walk about 30m and ski right back to the condo. Condo was comfortable and spacious enough for 2 people. Gwl very helpful in organising the stay.
“Outstanding location, but...”
Breck out did itself this trip. The conditions were amazing. Trails End may have the best location in Breck. We stayed there last year. The room was outdated at best. We came back this year hoping we would be pleasantly surprise by the room, it was worse than last year. We don't spend much time in the room so we will weigh out if the location is worth the dumpy accomadations before booking next year.
This condo was in a great location for children with the ski school and lift very close. For the price, I would have expected the condo to be more up-to-date. It was functional. There was no elevator access from the garage or a ground level floor which made hauling gear to the room difficult. At half the cost or less it may have been fine. Great location for Breckenridge though. Easy walk to Main Street.
“Ski trip peak nine”
Our Ski Vacation was on of the best ever. We stayed in a Ski In Ski Out on Peak Nine. Then Service from Great Western was as advertised and they did a great Job. Kenny Wilson
unit 212 is the best located unit. Steps from elevator that exits right to the slopes. The unit was dated but clean
“Trails End is literally at the trails' end”
The location of this condo was perfect -- it couldn't be more convenient. In the morning and after lunch, a 5-10 minutre from the condo door has you in line for the Peak 9 Superchair. After a tough day skiing, you can pole to within 50 feet of the complex door where the two hot tubs (indoor and outdoor) await you. The location was also convenient to town where a short walk takes you to many downntown restaurants and shops. Room 212 was certainly adequate for two adults, was very clean, and had good kitchen supplies and appliances. We did have a little trouble turning on the baseboard heater, but once we got it figured out, the place heated up nicely. Speaking of heat, the heated garage was a big plus. Great Western Lodging was great to work with. I recommend their services and plan to call them again when we return to Breckenridge.
