A building full of character that has been sympathetically restored yet retaining original and historic features whilst providing modern day comforts. Furnished with a mixture of quality antique and vintage furniture, Le Calipel offers you a comfortable base to explore whatever the time of year.
In the summer, open the windows and watch the swallows swoop over the pond which is home to a diverse fauna; or in the winter, light the traditional French woodburner after a day exploring and snuggle down to enjoy the beautiful local produce bought at a market. On summer evenings, relax in your private garden with a bottle of wine whilst cooking on the barbecue. The garden is planted and tended to provide food and habitat for nature, with different Buddleia varieties that buzz with bees and are surrounded by butterflies and moths providing a true spectacle of nature. Watch the dragonflies hover over the pond which is inhabited by many species of amphibia. Le Calipel is an oasis for nature.
After a busy day, whatever the time of year, have a long soak in the antique French double ended bath, perhaps à deux? A refreshing shower will wake you up in the morning after a good night's sleep in your kingsize antique bed ready to explore some more!
On arrival, you will find a comprehensive Welcome Pack which includes the basics to help you settle in, artisanal preserves to enjoy with your croissants, cheese, butter and eggs from our free range chickens. The price includes everything....apart from your food! However, you will find a light supper awaits you so after travelling, you don't need to worry about going shopping immediately. We are happy to include a load of washing for you which will be air dried but the ironing is down to you!
We are very flexible on your start day throughout the year, even during July and August - just choose the day! We are also happy for you to take a short break at any time of 3 nights or more, again, you choose the start day.
Le Calipel is to be found down a no through lane surrounded by fields. The architecture of the barn is that of a medieval building, with the humans living on the first floor while the animals are underneath, on the ground floor. This means that the door to the gite is part of the way up the wall and is approached by a path which is eco-friendly wood chippings. This, combined with the rise of the land might make it difficult for less able bodied people.

“A wonderful haven”
The Gite was a wonderful place to relax . Donna gave a warm welcome when we met and a welcome gift of jams croissants ,cider and tarts which were all lovely . The Gite is appropriately furnished, clean and very comfortable and we were lucky to enjoy warm weather in the garden and on our walks . We would look forward to returning again
