We had a wonderful time in K-13 the condo is perfectly located , it was clean quiet and spacious , there was everything in the kitchen and bathroom you would need , plus everything for the beach . We had a nice view of the ocean across a grassy area . It was easy to walk to stores and restaurants , wich we did a lot even though we had a car . The only regret we both had was that we didn't make longer reservations and we had to leave .
“Very comfortable, Conveinent, relaxing”
The wife and I had a very laid back vacation. The location is quiet. It's close to the airport, stores, beach. We were very comfortable.
“As usual a wonderful experience !!!”
From beginning to end this visit exceded all we needed. The unit was wonderful.I spent every morning sipping my coffee from the balcony watching the ocean. Sooo relaxing. This unit was truly a blessing. I am not without experience here in that my daughter owned in one of the units in another building. This unit was very well maintained as well. Second floor is the only way to go even for two 65 year olds. This was my husbands first trip to Kauai and he also fell in love. We will be back to this unit for sure!!!
My husband and I traveled to Kauai for our honeymoon. When we checked in at the front desk, everyone was very helpful and friendly. The condo itself was neat, clean and we came and went as we pleased. We specifically looked to stay in a condo because it is a lot more affordable than a typical Hawaiian resort, and we wanted to make some meals for ourselves to save money. There is a grill by each of the pools, which we took advantage of during our stay. Our condo already had beach towels, a cooler to take to the beach, a beach chair, and some other necessities. This was nice because we just assumed we would have to get our own...nice for travelers! We also had a little journal in our room which I thought added a charming touch. Staying in Kapaa was definitely a great choice for us. We were not familiar with the island at all, but there are plenty of great places to eat, buy groceries, get a cup of coffee, or just hang out at one of the local beaches. We recommend renting a car because we traveled to the north and south sides of the island a lot during our stay, but we were always happy to come home and soak in one of the hot tubs (which were never crowded at night, by the way:)at our little condo. The only thing we were a little unsure of (this is very minor) was the house keeping situation. The only time they clean your room is at the end of your stay. That being said, if you are staying longer than a week, be prepared to clean up a bit. There is also laundry on site, but it does cost money to do a load. This was not a problem for us. Again, these are minor things that I think most people would expect to do while staying in a place like this. Overall we loved the location and enjoyed Plantation Hale. The air conditioning was awesome especially after an afternoon at the beach. We loved it here and want to come back sometime. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
“Very decent for the price”
Was a pleasant condo. Few upgrades needed like the shower and repairs to kitchen cabinets, living room screen- but didnt affect stay there. Centrally located on island and close food/ shopping. Would stay there again. They gave us a great last minute rate.
This is just an ok property. The unit is very dark, the "lanai" had a thick wood wall with smelly carpeting. We were 3 people travelling together for a quiet week in Kapaa - mom, 21 year old college student son and 16 year old daughter. The unit has two double beds in the bedroom, which were fine, and a lumpy back breaking sofa bed. We are all in excellent health, exercise etc and have no health or mobility issues. None of us could be comfortable on that sofa bed and we ended up at WalMart buying an airbed by the third night just to get through the week. There was no cleaning service and that would have been ok but there was no real way to clean up, either. There was a mop but no bucket, a tiny broom, no bathroom cleaning supplies. So again to WalMart to buy stuff to keep it habitable for our week. There was an ice chest, beach towels, a vacuum, a tv we never once turned on and nice people managing Plantation Hale. The area was excellent for my daughter to skate board and peaceful morning walks on the beach. Just know what you are getting into. The price was right, Garden Island Properties were excellent to work with.
Response from the manager Mahalo for your review. This unit has recently undergone a refurbishment with all brand new furnishings (including the sofa/sleeper) and fresh paint. We now have an additional padding on the sofa/sleeper. We are glad to have had you and happy to hear that you enjoyed the area as well as "peaceful morning walks on the beach."
“Ten days in Paradise”
Great place to stay while vacationing on Kauai. Easy to travel to the East and North of the island, yet still close enough to be in Lihue in a matter of 15 minutes. Have stated there before so was confortable and enjoyable. Nice bedroom, great beds and the sleeping couch was very confortable. Great to be able to cook some of our meals there. Would stay there again.
Kapa'a is a great location on the island of Kauai, and a nice old town itself. The central location puts all of the island within reach, and the beaches are beautiful. Plantation Hale was just right - clean, fully equipped, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. We'll certainly look forward to another stay there.
“A hidden gem”
Plantation Hale is one of the best places to stay on the Coconut Coast, and Unit K-13 is in my opinion the best they have. Perfect for a single person or a couple who wants privacy. Not for big families due to the distance to pools, etc. I prefer quiet, so this unit is my favorite after 4 stays at PH over 6 years. btw, I was a Kauai resident for 5 years, and coconut coast is the best for tourists who want to experience it all. Close to the Giant, and all my favorite places on the north shore south shore, even Kokee and Kalalau, etc. Wailua golf course is public and one of the top rated in the nation, and is just 15-20 min drive away. (Kapaa traffic permitting)
Response from the manager Mahalo and we do agree Plantation Hale; due to it's affordability and comfort is a "HIdden Gem". Unit K13; being an end unit, on the 2nd floor, facing the ocean has it all! More upgrades coming soon to this already beautiful unit!!
“Condo and Kapaa review”
1st, for all those people who say you do not need air conditioning on Kauai, they are lying to you. We were there from July 9-16 and without air conditioning in the condo we would have been miserable at night. That is what makes Plantation Hall, condo K13 ideal because while most condos have no or one air conditioner in the living room this unit has two air conditioners (living room & Bedroom)and did we use them. There was little or no breeze the entire week and coming home at night the condo was hot even though we had the windows and drapes closed and just opening everything up when we got home was not cooling down the condo without the air conditioners. The unit is good and comfortable for 2 people. Being on 2nd floor allowed us to see the ocean which was approx a 5 minute walk but most likely you will not be able to swim in the areas that are walkable. The complex is very quiet and this unit is at the very end right before the Marriott Courtyard making it ideal. You can hear very little road noise as your patio faces the ocean instead of the road. If you plan on doing day trips to the other parts of the island but want to stay in one location then Kapaa is a good location. However, it is not as fancy as the Northern and Southern resort communities and the beaches are not as nice but it is cheaper and you are in a central area for your day trips. Traffic can be rough if they are doing road work. There are 2 supermarkets right near the condo, good restuarants that are reasonably priced and a McDonalds & Burger King right down the street which was good for a quick breakfast when heading out early or a late night snack. If you plan on staying in one area and want good beaches then I would go with the other resort areas but be aware that they often do not have air conditioning. The south is much hotter and drier than the north.
