It has been quite a while since our stay, and I wrote a review on the Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals website but thought one was due here as well. My family loved this cottage and the surrounding area. First, the cottage: Beautiful, tastefully decorated, and clean. My daughter and I took the loft bed and my husband slept in the main bed, both were very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed, just bring food. The view is of the pasture with horses, a mini-donkey and goats, as well as of the garden filled with organic and tasty veggies (my daughter enjoyed digging up potatoes and picking apples). The animals are friendly and enjoy attention; there is also a dog and a few shy cats on the property. The owner lives in a house close to the property. It was interesting to watch her train the horse and tend to the animals (and a big thank you for letting my daughter help with feeding), but she is obviously very careful to maintain the privacy of the guests. The garden is lovely and filled with flowers. We had gorgeous clear weather for almost the whole time when we were there in October; on our last day the mist came rolling in - that itself was a surreal, fairy-like experience. The surrounding area: Downtown Trinidad is about a 5 minute drive away. It is small, quaint, and has a very picturesque harbor. There is a small grocery store (Murphy's?) that carries all the basics. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, we enjoyed visiting the small cafe downtown for breakfast. The Marine Lab was a fun place to visit - it is small (part of the college) but free, and has a wall lined with aquariums that give you a good idea of the sea life in that area. Outside is a "touch tank" filled with starfish, anemones and sea urchins. The quirky city of Eureka is close by, and has two fabulous natural foods stores. During our trip, we spent most of our time exploring Patrick Point State Park, which is just a short drive from the cottage. Gorgeous trails wind through tall trees, lush ferns, mossy rocks and down to the rocky shore where you will likely catch glimpses of harbor seals. Banana slugs and bunnies are also common sightings. We lucked out and visited during a full moon - tide-pooling was wonderful. We also visited Agate Beach, where we found so many beautiful agates to collect. If you drive south down the coast you will be treated to The Avenue of the Giants, a great drive through the redwoods. There are also trails along the redwood hwy that lead down to the sandy beaches peppered with haystack rocks - we were there for two hours and did not see another person the whole time we were there. Renting the cottage was an easy process (we also appreciated that they were able to get us in a day early with very short notice), the property managers are very professional, friendly, and easy to get a hold of by phone. The Seawoods Cottage has blessed us with so many wonderful memories - we hope to return this summer!

Response from the manager Thank you! Please come again and make some more memories!
