“NOT AS ADVERTISED”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2013

"Ocean view" is 1/4 of the view, 3/4 being a very industrial looking Hilton hotel across a fairway. Mattresses extremely soft, so watch your back. Communal barbecue is an impractically long distance away. Very sterile, no books or DVD's, tacky cheap "artwork." If you want a $250/night rental for $550/night, this is for you!

“Fantastic location and place...management, not so much”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2013

We decided to give the Waikoloa beach area a try for this trip as we were travelling with family members who like a more resort/planned community experience. We were very pleased with the development. The unit is 9F, which is not directly oceanfront, but does provide very good views of the ocean and golf course from the living room and two back bedrooms. We had a great time watching the sun set from our lanai. The place is spotless and roomy. The furnishings are clean and modern. The kitchen is fully stocked, including a coffee grinder (so that previous review is a little out-of-date). Unfortunately, this unit does not have a grill on the back lanai; we were told that it's against regulations, though several other units did have them (likely for rent by owner). We had an easy walk or drive to the pool area. We had a few problems with our stay. The first is that the information provided by the property management was incorrect regarding the wifi password. I contacted the listed contact person multiple times during our stay but could never get the password. She actually just stopped returning my calls and emails. Finally, nowhere in the online property description is mention made of the "resort" fee; it's only in the pre-arrival information packet. That information is also out of date, as the fee is now $10 per day. Overall, our experience at Hali`i Kai was very enjoyable and the unit suited our needs perfectly.

“Great stay in Waikoloa”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2012

The property location and amenities were exactly as shown; the unit was beautiful inside and out, and having stayed in Kailua-Kona on all our previous visits, we would now make this our permanent Big Island vacation spot. The pool was fantastic, our kids didn't want to leave! Please put a coffee grinder inthe unit, though - when you're in the land of the best coffee in the world, you want to grind beans! Aloha!

“A nice condo in a nice development”

Hali'i Kai is quiet, but just a few minutes from the Waikoloa shops and the beach at Anaehoomalu Bay.
