“Magical Family Vacation”
This area of the north shore is the most magical place I have ever visited. The beach is magnificent, with calm, crystal waters and unbelievable views. We saw many turtles and a monk seal, right on the beach in front of the house. The house itself was just perfect for our family of 4 (including 2 young children). We ate most of our meals on the huge and wonderful lanai. Our kids loved the games and puzzles and the outdoor shower. There's lots of beach gear as well (umbrellas, chairs, snorkle gear, sand toys, mats, beach towels, etc.). If you want to truly get away from it all and just relax and enjoy your family, this is the house and area to be. The only heads up is that the kitchen cupboards are bare, e.g., no left over boxes of pasta or spices. So if you plan on cooking, you may want to bring basic spices with you. I would happily return every year to this amazing, magical house.
“This was the 2nd Honeymoon we both needed!”
Lovely, relaxing time together. Didn't even mind the rain.
Bali Hai checked with us to see if we had arrived safely and they also called to check in when there was a power outage in the neighborhood. So very nice. The location of the house is wonderful - so secluded and quiet. Layout is great although the kitchen is a bit small. Even though it rained a lot this year the lanai at Haena Place was incredibly large and comfortable so we didn't mind at all as we could just relax, read and watch the rain. We loved the thick white towels and the number of beach towels. The beach is so close that we could pop back to the house to have lunch. Having the beach chairs and mats was very convenient. The living/dining area was wonderfully spacious. The master bedroom was great and the mattress in the second bedroom with the en suite bath was very comfy. New mattresses for the twin bedroom should be on the owners' priority list. One bed looked like Iz had been sitting on the end. So glad we only had one person in that room. Lots of dishes, glasses, silverware, knives and pots in the kitchen. Washer and dryer on main level is nice. Ceiling fans and lots of windows made for a very comfortable environment. A few inexpensive hints for the house: 1) New bed pillows with pillow covers. I was changing my bed and when I took the case off one of the pillows I was taken aback. I swapped it with a pillow in the sham and them double pillowcased the pillows. 2) New set of skillets for the kitchen. Two of the skillets had lost most of their teflon and the handles were extremely loose. 3) The two smaller bedrooms need to be repainted and a full length mirror installed somewhere. 4) A few cleaning products, new brooms and new floor mat for lanai would be a plus. 5) The cleaning staff should give the house a little more attention. My favorite thing about the house was the lanai and the location. My least favorite was the small kitchen.I would highly recommend the house. We most certainly would like to stay there again.
“Absolutely the most amazing trip yet due to this home!”
This house went beyond our expectations! The master bedroom made waking up in paradise all that much better! The location was perfect!
1) excellent location near beach. 2) enjoyed having the outdoor shower. 3) nice master bedroom & master bathroom. 4) direction should say that it's past the 8 mile marker. 5) one of the showers didn't work. 6) one window lock was broken. 7) barbeque hasn't been cleaned for a long time. 8) did find a roach and a centipede, but that may be due to the environment. 9) overall, we would like to stay there again next time we come to Kauai.
“Great value close to the beach”
Haena Place was a great vacation rental. It was as far north on Kauai as you can get, which is what we wanted. A short path led to Tunnels beach and great snorkeling with astounding beauty. It was off the main road, so quiet. Beautiful, large master bedroom suite. A great price for this location. Large family area, nice deck. Plenty of room for us and our 5 older kids (14-22 years old). All in all, better than the website pictures. The only drawback was that the property is surrounded by high tropical hedges which, to some degree, obstruct both views and the breeze, so the inside of the house would warm up. But this was minor overall.
“Wonderful time at Haena Place”
We just returned from a wonderful trip to Kauai. The Haena Place house was very relaxing and was at a great location. Tunnels beach is just a short walk from the house. There is a path through a field in the back of the house that leads directly to the beach. The house was very comfortable, except for the bedroom with the twin beds (they need new mattresses!) The kitchen was not equipped as nicely as previous houses that we have rented in Haena, but it adequate. The porches are great and the house is very peaceful and gave us a very relaxing vacation.
“Beautiful home,3 min walk to best snokeling beach on the island.”
The home was beautiful but did not live up to the listing. The listing stated that there was a separate room with 2 twin beds, it's own entrance, and kitchenette. This is not correct and the listing should be updated to reflect this. All in all the stay was pleasant and comfortable. We found out by trail and error that the propane tanks were empty the day we checked in. Also found that the matress in the smaller bedroom with the queen sized bed was in bad shape, but it was replaced at our request. Other than that every thing was satisfactory or above. We had fun and I'd stay there again. Unfortunately the dates we picked ended up being considered high season because of spring break and the house cost of $1,200.00 a week more than low season.
This truly was a home away from home, beautiful to the eyes and easy on the mind. It was decorated with simplicity, yet equipped with quality ware for every convenience. Even the sheets and towels were high quality and soft. Our young adult sons joined us and each breakfast and dinner was spent on the lanai in relaxed and extended conversation - a priceless experience. The location could not have been better and, after touring most of the island, we realized that this was by far the best place we could have ever stayed. Our Bali Hai agent (Lisa) was throughly professional, attentive and gracious, as were the others at Caldwell Banker with whom we interacted. Our entire experience was so wonderful, I am tempted not to say so just to keep it a delicious secret. Nevertheless, it was too good not to share. If you choose Haena Place, you too will realize you made the right choice.
“Great Location for Exploring & Enjoying Kauai's North Shore”
We were blessed with beautiful weather and relatively calm seas. This home was very comfortable and had all we needed. It was very convenient to walking to Tunnels Beach and Haena Beach Park and enjoying the beautiful sand and ocean and seeing the awesome Bali Hai views. We were only there four full days, but were able to spend time at the beaches, go into the quaint town of Hanalei and beautiful Hanalei Bay. We finished our last day by doing a very scenic 4-mile roundtrip hike on the Kalalau Trail to the wonderfully secluded Hanakapi'ai Beach. Also closeby are the very large wet and dry caves near the end of the road by Haena State Park and Kee Beach. We had delicious dinners at Mediterranean Gourmet and Bouchons Hanalei. We most liked the location and privacy of the house, and least liked having to leave!
