“Other than location, not much goin for the place.”
Location was great, right next to Magics beach with an ocean view. However the unit needs remodeling. There was also an ant problem. Unless you wanted to wash dishes each time right after eating, there would be ants on the counter 20 minutes later. Also be prepared to go shopping as the "starter kit" is lacking. One trash bag but no trash can? (maybe this was part of the ant problem) One roll of tp. Coffee maker but no filters. I've stayed at quite a few condos in Hawaii and this was the least ive been set up with. Unit does come with beach towels, chairs, snorkel equipment which is great for the beach next door.
We had a very nice stay at Kona Magic Sands. It was only too short! Loved the view.
“Great location, poor condition.”
We didn't realize until we had arrived that there was no air conditioner in the condo. We wish that would have been clarified prior to our arrival. The overall cleanliness of the condo was fine, but there were a lot of cracks in the windows and doorways allowing for lizards and flies to make their way in and the sliding door did not lock. The bed was not very comfortable. It had a thin foam cover that scrunched up towards the ends. There were a lot of little bugs that crawled all over the kitchen sink area during our whole stay. Nick, the property manager, was very helpful and nice. We liked very much that the condo was right next to the beach allowing us to casually stroll over whenever we felt like it. The condo was also not too far from town. It had a great view of the sunset. Overall the location was great, but the condo itself needed much attention.
“Magic Sands Stay”
Nick was very helpful in getting me in on short notice. I appreciated his help
“Location is Everything!”
Fabulous for the price! Location is superb! Quiet, except the ocean waves, and comfortable. 5 stars for a 2 star price and decor. Last condo to need remodeling, but if you arent expecting a new condo, there's nothing to complain about. I brought my own memory foam mattress pad, beach towels, coffee grinder, dvd player, and tolietries for my daughter to use. One set of towels, but there's a laundry. Very limited kitchen items. Needs pans for cooking in the oven. Fans only, no air conditioning. Take advantage of living next door to the most beautiful white sand beach in Kailua, but be careful of the waves if it's rough.
“Excellent room and location”
This complex is excellent. Right on the water, and very well kept up. It is a smaller complex, and didn't feel crowded at all. The unit was in great shape and had all the amenities we needed. Dealing with the property managers was very easy and straightforward.
“Great location great building; unit's kitchen needs upgrade”
I have stayed here a few times and love this location and love the unit's open ocean front lanai- always feels safe and building and common areas, pool, parking etc are very well maintained. Condo studio unit has been painted since I was last here and brighter; average in regard to quality of furniture etc- Wi Fi connection is difficult/weak in unit- Ok at pool side, property management company needs to put Wi Fi connection info and available guest networks in unit rental information- I had to contact them to request access info. Booking was easy process- seems property management of unit may have changed in last while, I had problems with the very old kitchen stove/range in second week of my stay- it would not work, seemed unsafe electrically and though my reporting it right away to property management company brought the promise of a repair person coming by imminently- didn't happen and problem was not solved and I was unable to cook for the last few days of my stay- which was a hassle. I would have liked some adjustment to my rental fees paid in full because of this lack of full kitchen amenities- but have not had a reply to my request for consideration of this from the property management company. Disappointing. The kitchen amenities/ equipment really needs an upgrade- and customer/guest service and follow through by property management folk needs a refresh. I would recommend this unit to a friend and book here again if these issues were addressed- its a great location in a well maintained, quiet building, with easy access from town and to grocery stores etc.
“Kona magic sands”
Was great to lie in bed and look at the sunset at a very affordable price!
“Good location, limited amenities”
The property was in a great location right on the water with a pleasant pool and restaurant. The check-in and check-out process was straight forward and simple. However, the unit was lacking some basic amenities such as sponges, towels, and a drying rack to clean dishes. The range was also unlabeled and difficult to operate. There appeared to be a switch for a garbage disposal, but the disposal does not seem to be working.
“Two and a half stars”
We enjoyed our stay in Kona. The rental property is a little small for 30 days. Maintenance was needed regarding the drapes, stove, cleaning supplies. The studio condo needs upgrading badly. The property manager and Knutson were very helpful.
