“Ohiopyle wedding/ PA sight seeing”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2013

We loved the was very homey! It was in a great location. The only things we thought we would add would be night lights upstairs in the hall and perhaps some solar lights around the outside of the 's very dark out there. And Addresses on the houses and at the road. It would be a nice touch if you provided wood for campfires and charcoal for grills. I know it's an added expense for you but when your renting a home, it's stuff you really don't think about packing and really shouldn't have was over 800.00 dollars for our 3 night stay...I think you could spare some charcoal/campfire wood. I hope to visit again.

“Just call this a house that looks like a cabin”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2013

This cabin was way more than what we were expecting. I would call this a condo or home that looks like a cabin. There were a few basic amenities it did not have or have much of (like soap, toilet paper, fire wood) which we found odd because it had soo many other things (like built in air conditioner and cable TV) that pure convenience. Overall great place to stay and would stay there again!!!

“just 5 miles from whitewater rafting”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2013

Loved this very clean, new cottage--so cozy with wonderful front porch and swing. We enjoyed the firepit (have to find own wood) and the setting among fruit trees. Wish we could have stayed longer! The kitchen could be a bit more furnished--no small plates, no pitcher to store drinks. That's our only complaint.

“close to town with a bit of privacy”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2013

The house was great. My only suggestion would be that the outdoor space have some privacy. It was very exposed tot he road and other houses. The fruit trees were wonderful- perhaps more could be planted between houses and road. And an outdoor foot wash would be great.

“Annual kayak trip”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

Our group of seven rented Schaefer for a repeat visit. Beautiful home with a great location. Two minor concerns: no drain plugs in the kitchen sink (signs all over the place about conserving the well water-had to invent a drain so as to not waste water); not enough large skillets or pots (for pasta) for a group our size....brought them from home. The staff is great to work with. We'll do it again next year.

“Family reunion”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

We had a wonderful time. We had a little bit of a time trying to find the home as we arrived in the dark could not find the address on a mailbox, there was a OVR sign but no address off the road but the picture of the house looked like it was setting alone did not realize there was another house so close to us. Once we got in it was very nice.

“Good Location”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2013

Jordan Zeigler never returned one of my phone calls. I had to practically chase her to make my reservation. The day before we arrived I left a message asking for instructions to get into the property. I never heard from her and had to call her again once we arrived to get the lockbox code. My actual conversations with here were very pleasant and helpful, but her availability and response time were quite frustrating. The mattresses on the property are abysmal. Everyone had a hurting back when we left. The owners need to invest in decent mattresses. The leg on the ottoman is broken (was like this when we arrived) it falls off every time the ottoman is moved. Everything else about the property was great. If new mattresses are purchased we would stay there again.

“Nice place”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2013

We enjoyed our stay. It is an old farmhouse, with a nicely-updated and well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The rest of the place is rustic-style with original wood flooring. Enjoyed the porch, but the view of the overgrown barn foundation (no barn, just a cinderblock foundation with brush all over it) took away from the experience. OVR's website description should have been more definitive about this property's lack of a dishwasher or Internet. The two abandoned, half-done and also overgrown houses at the back of the property were a little disheartening. Another rental is in front of and very close to the Schaefer house. But overall, the positives far outweighed any negatives.

“Review of The Schaefer House”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2013

Our group loved the location of the Schaefer House. We were in the area for an 80th birthday celebration, held at The Stone House, and it was very convenient to both this and Ohiopyle (for our rafting trip). My only problem with this place was that the refrigerator did not appear too clean and we did not have enough towels for our group (5 of them for 7 of us and only one hand towel. I did put in a call to the office upon my arrival at the number provided and left a message but I guess it was after hours on Friday. I did receive a message the next day and returned it late afternoon; cell phone service was uneven and we were rafting for most of the day. We adapted- we used our own beach towels and wiped down the fridge bins. This in no way would affect my desire to stay here again and I thoroughly recommend the Schaefer House. There is plenty of rooms and views. Loved all the furniture.
