“Nice view, but...”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

This unit's best asset is the view. It's really quite stunning. The bathrooms are also nicely updated. But you'd better be in shape to get there. The walk uphill from town is a bit tiring for those of us from sea-level and then there are 88 more steps to get up to the unit. There is a rickety tram that can get you up as well, but you could walk up and down the stairs twice in the same amount of time it takes the tram to get there. The living room is spacious and clean, although the furniture is very dated. The 2 bedrooms are downstairs and have uncomfortable beds - one is very hard and other too soft. They should probably consider swapping out the mattresses at some point. In the end, it comes down to the view and location. For ski-in, ski-out, it's probably a pretty spectacular location, as long as you are fine with basic amenities. It's right at lift 1a. in the summer though, it's a lot of work to get there and not so comfortable when you do. Other than the view, it would probably be more honest to call this an economy unit, not standard.

“This is the perfect ski in/out location on aspen Mountain!”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2011

The moment we set foot in the Frias office, my daughter and I were greeted with wonderful hospitality! The accommodations were clean and spacious with breathtaking views of the mountains and aspen. The very best feature for us was the proximity to the Shadow Mountain Lift which is only 100 feet from the door. This condo is located on the fourth level, and there is a tram to help get your luggage to the condo. There is no elevator, so it may not best meet the needs of a disabled person. Restaurants and shopping are only a few blocks away.

“Great Trip!”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2011

Property management company was extremely courteous, helpful and responsive. Condo was clean and they were very accommodating with airport transfers. The condo unit was ski-off but there were a lot of steps to get up to the unit. That was the only draw back but really not that big of a deal. Unit was very clean, daily maid services and overall a 5 star trip. Would definitely stay with these folks again.

“Great place, REAL ski in/ski out, awful arrival”

Reviewed 14 Feb 2010

Great place, ski in/ski out for Aspen (bus to other places). Great view. Well equipped kitchen. Maid service was great. Only hitch: we called (as directed) on arrival, but no one showed up to pick us up. 4 calls latter, the Frias person was getting testy with me and we were still waiting. Finally someone shows up, takes us to check in, and drives off. We've got all our stuff and it's late, dark and a 1/2 mile to the place. Security gives us a ride, drops us at the curb and says: "it's somewhere in there." Well, it was up 90 steps, we went up and down 3 times. Only latter did we find out that there was a tram... no one told us.

Response from the manager Thank you for your comments that you posted about your recent stay in Aspen, CO. One of the managers at Frias Properties will be in touch with the limo service that picked you up at the airport and explain that their attitude reflects on our company so hopefully this type of behavior does not repeat itself in the future. As for the tram at Shadow Mountain – the front desk agents have been instructed to personally tell guests staying in Shadow Mountain about the tram and how it works. If there is a late check in, we will insert instructions on the tram in the arrival packet. The tram is a great addition to the Shadow Mountain complex – I’m sorry we did not get that information to you sooner. Thanks again for your comments, all are greatly appreciated.

“Shadow Mtn #20”

Overall stay was great. Condo had everything needed and was very comfortable. All service was great as well. Good location, 10 minute walk to Snowmass Shuttle. As the condo is the last complex on the hill, some might find the walk up hill to the condo more challenging, but it is great exercise too. I would recommend re-emphasing the condo trolley when first checking to avoid hauling luggage up the stairs. Couldn't have been more pleased.

We spent a very enjoyable and comfortable week in the Shadow mountain condo. We really wanted a place where we could relax and spend time with family. The condo was perfect for us. We like to cook and the kitchen/grill met our needs. The pool felt great after a day of skiing. There is a bit of a climb to the unit if the tram is not used. This was fine for us but we did plan our trips down. It was very convenient to town and the chair lift. We loved the open floor plan and the view morning, noon and night is spectacular!
