“Winter stay with family”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

We booked the last week in February hoping we would catch the beginning of spring. Unfortunately we had a rather damp and cold week so our review reflects a winter stay. Marisa (property manager) was super accessible and welcomed us well, even promptly changed out our heater fuel during the week when it ran out. If you are going to stay in the winter, be prepared to stay busy running the wood stove, or to stay in one room with the electric heater. On arrival the home was damp and cold, but after 24 hours of wood stove and butane heater it dried out and warmed up (but bedrooms without the fireplace remained a bit musty and chilly). After it warmed up, the house was cozy and had a nice open layout upstairs to spend time with family. In nice weather the porch would be really nice. The house is on very narrow and steep road with a very tight parking place for anything bigger than a small car and not for the faint of heart if you are used to wide flat roads. There is no place near by for kids to run and play safely unless you take them to the beach about 15 minutes away by car. Other than that, nice location if you plan to split time between beaches and Sintra sights.

Response from the manager Thank you very Much Nate and Lynn, We will see if you can arrange both the front and rear patios to become a safe playground for kids. these aren't really very big, but more arranged may become nice playgrounds. You are receiving families more frequently, and after your remarks so we will definitely create a kids area. All the best, Regards Marisa Pott

“Wonderful Stay”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2013

The agent for this property Ms Pott drove all the way from Cascais, Lisbon to meet me when she came to know that I was having problem with my rented car. She sorted out and called Europcar for a replacement in 2 hours. The house is located in between Sintra town and the beaches and you need a car. You can book a car in Mem Memphis near Sintra and set your GPS to get there. First time is tricky but after that a pice of cake. Sintra is a very nice place. Love it.

Response from the manager Thanks Clament, I was glad to help. Its nice to know hat you've enjoyed it! Regards

“Charming Cottage - Great Location!”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2012

A charming cottage in the hills near Sintra, ideally located to visit Sintra and its attractions (including easy rail connection to Lisbon), and the atlantic coast. The house is fully furnished and provided every amenity, has terrific views to the west. Our host Marisa gave us directions to the house, and answered all of our questions to ensure that we had a smooth stay. We had a few cold nights and had a nice fire in the fireplace. Driving in Eugaria was a challenge due to the narrow streets.

Response from the manager Merci bien, Bruno. Salut!

“Cozy country home near fabulous Sintra”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2012

We had a wonderful stay at Pedro's home in Eugaria. It's very handy to the beaches, palaces and everything of interest in this most special part of Portugal. The house itself was well equipped with all of the comforts of home. Very clean and updated. Our favourite memory of staying here was eating meals on the gorgeous balcony and gazing out at the countryside. In the distance you can see the atlantic ocean. We had two toddlers on the trip and they greatly enjoyed their time here--lots of nooks and crannies to explore and Pedro was well equipped with baby gates and pack n' plays for the kids to sleep in. No need to bring your own! The two floors were spacious and afforded lots of room for the 6 of us that stayed there. We found this to be a great central location from which to explore the amazing sites. The roads are narrow so driving is very exciting, but we now miss it with our double lane highways and extra wide parking spots. It was a thrill to explore Sintra and at the end of the day we had an amazing place to go home to and rest.

Response from the manager Thanks Lynsey, i am glad to know you have enjoyed! All the best, Marisa

“The perfect house in a perfect setting.”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2012

Truly lovely cottage in the foothills of Sintra. The place is just perfect in size for a couple to small groups and has absolutely everything you could need. Hosts were friendly and very helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. Visited at Easter and the area is a little chilly, so the 2 fireplaces really made it a romantic getaway. The area is just breathtaking and you can walk for hours and always discover new things. Will definitely be back, perhaps in the summer to take real advantage of the perfect location.

“Lovely house in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2011

We had a lovely stay in Eugaria. The house is charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It is set in beautiful surroundings and there is a great view from the terrace. The owners are friendly and helpful. The house is located in a quiet village but everything is within easy reach - only a short drive to local beaches and villages. The town of Sintra has impressive castles, parks, nice cafées and restaurants. We would happily recommend this place and plan to go back!

Response from the manager Thank you Turid! All the best!
