“We called it Paradise!”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2015

The place was AMAZING. The pictures online are awesome; the place in real life is breathtaking. The house is small. Two tiny bedrooms, one with a full(?) sized bed in it and the other with two twins. There's a little living room with a futon. A small bathroom inside and then the gorgeous outdoor bathroom attached to the master bedroom. I've never been in an outdoor bathroom before but it was crazy cool...especially at night when you light the candles! The house itself is very tastefully decorated. It has a beachy/nautical theme, but not gaudy, just perfect. Don't worry about the smallness of the house, though, because you seriously won't spend any time inside. The whole property is designed for the guests to be outside. We spent a ton of time on the blue outdoor couches, watching our 5 year old in the pool with the ocean in the background and listening to the waves or the music from the sonos system (an awesome touch!). Hilda, Euris and Papo are great. Hilda makes the best food and even taught me how to make flan (I recommend asking her to make that). Euris is so easy to be around. He drove us to the Parque Nacional Jaragua. My husband, who speaks Spanish, learned a lot about the area from him. They got along great! Papo kept the pool clean for our daughter and even tolerated her "helping" him. He spends a lot of time keeping the grounds looking so great. And his bonfires are the biggest we'd ever seen. We like our privacy and we're a little worried about having staff around all the time, but all three were so friendly and unobtrusive that it felt like a true paradise. When we booked the house we had planned for it to be just me, my husband and our daughter. Our in-laws were with us for the first part of our vacation and then we had planned to split up for our stay at Las Guayacanes but due to some miscommunication, they were without a place to stay for the first night. We invited them to stay with us until their place in Santo Domingo was ready. They ended up staying two nights (even though they were paying for a hotel room in the capital) because the property was so great. Euris drove them into the city when they were ready to leave. A few days later we decided to drive into the city to visit with them and invited them back to paradise for our last two nights . Again they agreed whilst still having to pay for their hotel room in the city(again). That's how great the place is!!! Also Edmundo is a great host. He responses are very quick and he'll readily answer any questions you have. He's done a great job with the rental. It's fantastic.

“Magical”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2014

We looked at a ton of different places to spend our honeymoon and when we stumbled across this gem on airbnb we knew this was the place we needed to go. Words cannot describe how gorgeous and magical the Haceinda is. From the private beach to the pool to the outdoor furniture, the orchards, the spice garden, the decor...everything is impeccable and so thoughtfully designed. The place is entirely yours and Edmundo's staff is AMAZING! Euri, our driver and concierge, was the best. He took us on day trips to waterfalls and beaches and brought us into the pueblos for ice cream! Hilda, the cook, makes the best food. She is awesome! My husband caught a small fish one night and she prepared it for us for lunch the next day. And it was delicious! Papo, the gardener, is the sweetest man. We just loved him and he set up an amazing bonfire for us on the beach one night. Edmundo, the owner, texted with me on WhatsApp whenever I had a question (which honestly wasn't often because he leaves you a complete 20 page document with all of the features of the house complete with pictures). Edmundo was awesome...gave us so many great ideas about day trips, menu ideas and also reminded us to download the Sonos App on our phones which controls speakers all around the 5 acre estate. You can blast music while taking a shower in the incredible outdoor shower or you can put some jams on down by the ocean...it's really cool! Words can't describe what an amazing time we had. This place is so magical and special. We feel so very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend six amazing nights there. We will definitely be back!

“Amazing Escape to Paradise”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2014

Our party of four stayed at Hacienda Guayacanes for five nights in July. Everything you will read in others reviews is 100% accurate - the place is an absolute gem. If you want the full details, Edmundo's description and the prior reviews cover just about every detail. The thing I would add, and the part I found most special about the place, was the attention to detail in every single aspect of the property. The time and intense focus it must have take to imagine and then create such a wonderful place is without compare in my travels. The perfect emphasis on building a space and property that seamlessly incorporates function and beauty, blending outdoor living with indoor island charm. It seemed as if every tree, every light, every last detail of the property from the pier to the herb garden blended together to create a magically relaxing and comfortable experience - virtually impossible not to enjoy. If there were a 6-star rating, Edmundo deserves it for a job well done.

“Paradise in the Dominican”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2013

What a unique vacation and experience!! The pictures are exactly what you get. It is actually unbelievable! The landscape is breathtaking. Edmundo was a wonderful host. We were in contact via email or phone everyday. He had everything planned out for us. He planned wonderful excursions for us, including going to a waterfall and going to one of the 7 most beautiful beaches in the world - Bahia Las aguilas. The staff was absolutely amazing. We fell in love with Euri, Hilda, and Papo. Euri was our every patient concierge and tour guide who took us where ever we wanted to go. Towards the end, we were teaching him English and he was teaching us Spanish. Hilda was a wonderful cook! All of her food was absolutely delicious! Papo had one of the kindest faces you've ever seen. He meticulously took care of all the grounds. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would most definitely go back. Fyi - We spoke very little Spanish (although it improved throughout the trip!), so (website hidden) Translate really came in handy. Thank you Edmundo for your amazing place!

“The place to stay if you want to relax, be pampered with luxury”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

From our first emails, following the confirmation and Welcome to Paradise note onto our actual stay @ Hacienda Los Guayacanes there are no words that can describe the wonders of this "Magistikal" place and the attention offered by Edmundo his owner and our host. Installations are a+, and the property it's immaculate, full of little details to enjoy discovering every moment thoughtfully hand made or picked by Edmundo who kindly shared with us his personal & private getaway. We spent 4 nights/5 days and upon check out we didn't want to leave (this place has a magnet that attracts you and lures you to stay in). We were a party of 8 plus 3 of our 4 legged sons. We fitted perfectly on the accommodations provided and the dogs had the most fun running wild on 22sq mt of secluded gardens and beaches. Edmundo left for us an array of options to sport and play, such as tennis, climbing wall, kayaks, etc. We enjoyed kayaking with our dogs which by the time of check out had earned the "captain of the ship" award!. Plus the house have satellite tv & cable, wifi, dvds, gaming options, book, magazines and a music system that blew my mind off as it reached all the property including the pier! One particular special detail is the outside bathroom on the master bedroom, a zen place designed to relax and enjoy romantically at night with all lighten candles! We had 3 staff caring for all our needs, Eury was the handy man who took care of everything around the house and all our necessities; Awilda a very friendly girl who cleaned the house and cooked or help around the kitchen (she made the most wonderful orange-corn bread I've tried!, so moist and yummy) and last but not least, Papo the gardener which everyday brought us flowers from the property to cheer us up, coconut and orange to cool us down from the tropical heat with freshly recollected fruit juice. Overall we had a fantastic experience that we'll love to repeat very soon.

“Secluded, off-the-beaten-track paradise”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

We very much enjoyed out stay at Los Guayacanes. It is a most wonderful place, far removed from the typical tourist experience. The property looks out over the magnificent Ocoa Bay and has been designed with much love and taste. Los Guayacanes was perfect to relax, spend wonderful family time and to discover the real Dom. Republic. Edmundo is a gracious host, very friendly, responsive, and he arranged everything perfectly for us. The staff is wonderful, and made our stay easy and enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend Los Guayacanes, and hope to be back soon.

“Perfect!”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2013

I don't think there are enough superlatives to properly describe this place. When I booked it I was worried it was too good to be true. But it actually turned out to be better. If you are looking for a great place to escape and melt into a state of blissful relaxation it doesn't get much better. Edmundo is an extremely gracious and accommodating host, genuinely making your enjoyment a top priority. The house staff is so kind and helpful. Awilda's cooking is top notch. Eury makes things work and was a fantastic tour guide on our waterfall hike. And they were both so patient with our terrible Spanish skills. The property is picturesque, the accommodations are clean and comfortable, the amenities are outstanding (games, kayaks, killer sound system etc). Its out of the way from the city and the major tourist destinations so as long as you are prepared for peace and quiet this place is perfect.
