“Home away from home”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2015

Our stay at Tropical Breeze Villa was fantastic! We stayed as a family of five with 3 children ranging from 21 to 2 years old. The villa will always be a part of our long term memories and our history as this is where my bridal party and I got dressed for my wedding! Let's start at the beginning: I rented the villa for 9 nights and from day one, it felt like home! Desroy the chef was amazing!!! He is so calm, trustworthy, unassuming and a wonderful chef! We only needed to say what meals we would like prepared and it was done! He prepared our family rehearsal meal on the Tuesday before the wedding and everyone was so impressed by him; he took all the stress of organising a huge meal to suit everyone's taste, away from us. I cannot thank him enough. Karen, the owner was also great. Although we did not meet her, we felt it was a very nice touch when she called at varying intervals to find out if we had settled in ok and if everything was going according to plan and then later on to congratulate us after the wedding. The pool was great! The kids enjoyed it so much.

“Best days ever”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2015

Wow what can one say. We came as a group of 10 to celebrate my 50 bday...from our arrival to our departure we had the best time. Desroy is amazing he greeted us w/ a home cooked meal the first night n showed us the sights n sounds of Jamaica. He is the Perfect host, he I can not speak enough positive about w out breaking into our words of the trip, " the best days ever"... There were 9 women which is usually trouble but we had no issues w the rooms or bathrooms. Or meals... Again Desroy shopped for us we had fresh everything day n night....loved our animal kingdom momma dogs n their babies we have plenty of pixs with them as well. They let us know when visitors came., felt right at home.. No worries mon...The property is in the heart of Negril even thou we had our own van rental, we were close enough to walk to shopping n the beaches. Folks in the area were great as well made us feel welcome n safe, no issues at all. I see owner is expanding guess we can bring more of us next time...again thank u ms Karen n Desroy, I could not have asked for a better place to celebrate 50 years of being....soon come luvn Jamaica from me California crew....

“Great for Family on a budget”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2014

Based on previous reviews, we had high expectations for the Tropical Breeze Villa. Upon arriving, we had to remind ourselves that we rented a budget vacation home. Tropical Breeze is clean, but dated. Updated windows, light fixtures, interior doors & kitchen appliances along with some touch-up painting would make it more appealing (the already updated floor and bathroom tile and paint in some rooms look great). Located near downtown Negril has its pros (walking distance to markets, shops and the beach) and cons (rundown surroundings, smell of burning trash, dogs barking and music until early morning). The house layout worked well for an extended family. The covered front porch accommodated all 10 of us and was cooler than sitting inside. We didn't use the pool much, but it was in great condition and is a nice addition. The beds were comfortable. Air conditioning kept the bedrooms pleasant at night, helped mask outside noises and dry out damp swim suits and towels. The coffee pot didn't work, so we used the coffee press instead. We overwhelmed the electric hot water heater, so some cold showers were endured. The best things about Tropical Breeze are the hospitality of the housekeeper/concierge (Sophie) and the home cooking by our chefs (Terry and Wayne). Sophie's advice was invaluable and we enjoyed visiting with her and Terry throughout our stay. We were treated to several delicious Jamaican meals that were better than any restaurant. A destination wedding brought us to Jamaica. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Tropical Breeze for 25 people. The cost was half of what it would have been at a restaurant and the food was better. The pool deck worked great for mingling and dining. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and relaxing ambiance. We enjoyed our stay at Tropical Breeze and left with great appreciation for what it has to offer. We recommend it for a real Negril experience, hospitality and culinary adventure on a budget and would would stay there again.

Response from the owner I arrived at Tropical Breeze the very next day after this group of people had checked out. I was not made aware of the fact that the coffee maker had broken and so i immediately replaced it as well as the kettle. The two bedrooms have been repainted in a nice bright blue colour for an "updated" look. Several of the windows have now been replaced on this trip for both soundproofing and a modernized look. As well, bathrooms were painted and new lighting installed. Its unfortunate that i did not arrive prior to this group as I touched on all areas that they mentioned needing updating. There were 10 people in this group all getting ready at once for a destination wedding, so I am not the least bit surprised that the hot water heater could not manage to keep up to the demand. We really went out of our way for this group of guests with an arrival dinner prepared for them with red and white wine waiting for them followed by an amazing Jamaican breakfast the next day. This group enjoyed many delicious meals at Tropical Breeze and the rehearsal dinner was provided to them at a very reasonable cost. Several people were picked up and returned to the airport at many different arrival times and destinations as they were not all staying at Tropical Breeze.

“True Jamaica”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

Tropical breeze has everything to offer...the place is huge and can sleep many people, great security, the pool is amazing and well looked after and the house was always clean and well serviced Sofia the house host is so nice, helpful and generous..she is very accommodating and will help you with anything you need or interested in...she is very easy going local and always on hand, she lives on site of the villa which is very convenient. But what made our experience absolutely amazing was the chef Wayne (a real Rastafarian)Firstly his skills in the kitchen were second to none..i have eaten at some very high class restaurants throughout the world and his real local food was hands down some of the best eating ever. He cooked with all natural, fresh, locally grown food (not from the supermarkets) and made us some of the dishes made famous in Jamaica...words do not describe how amazing the food was (it still makes me salivate right now) He is also very accommodating with his cooking even though he is a vegetarian but my advice would be to let him do his thing and you wont be disappointed. It doesn't stop here though,we became a family and very good friends when we stayed a tropical breeze and hung out with both wayne and sofia very regularly, wayne is such a great guy he would take us to all the hidden local spots for swimming and experiencing the real Negril and jamaica. He also gave us a great insight into the runnings of Jamaica and what it is like to live there, made us feel right at home. I have traveled to over 40 countries all over the world and lm always looking for a true local experience..i hate doing the stock standard touristy things all the time and want to get to know each country from the locals which is very difficult but this is one place l got to do this at and absolutely loved it..we had been travelling around the caribbean for a month and Negril, Jamaica is the only place l would go back too purely on the experience

“Christmas in Negril”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2013

A group of five of us stayed at Breeze's Villa for Christmas through New Years. It has been over a decade since we were last in Negril and I must say the small town has grown! The Villa owner called a few times while we were there to make sure everything was irie. She truly cared that we were having a great time. Breeze's staff, Sophie, Shrimpy and alex were amazing. We arrived as guests and left as friends! The pool was immaculate and cared for everyday; a definate highlight having a private pool. The grounds were maintained daily with an incredible selection of Flora and Fauna and the ancient reefs around the pool were very cool as well. As another reviewer mentioned ear plugs would be a good option but we were there during a major festive season and lets be honest the Jamaicans know how to party. Looking forward to visiting again.

“My New Home away From Home ! :)”

Recently spent 7 nights here at Tropical Breeze , this was my first time staying here and I only wish I had found this years ago ! I will most definately be spending all of my future vacations here with friends and family . I have never been so sad leaving a vacation spot in my whole life . This property is beautifully maintained , food was freshly prepared , the staff and owner were some of the kindest people I have ever met ! The entire staff went above and beyond taking good care of us . Shrimpy cooked some unbelievable delicious meals our whole stay ( taking any requests we had ) . Sophie was an amazing host/housekeeper , always on top of fresh linens towels , you name it . Took us to see some attractions , beautiful sights , clubs etc . A total surprise was having Karen ( owner ) call us numerous times to make sure all was well . Absolutely loved having the option of lounging around the pool all day or taking a few minute stroll to the beach . Was such a relaxing and comfortable stay ! Thank you Karen and staff for giving me the best holiday to date ! I look so forward to coming back :)

“Relaxing”

I have been to Negril before but stayed in resorts...never again. April 2012 decided I wanted to experience Jamaica and I did staying at tropical breeze. Its location is very convenient to beach, clubs, groceries whatever u need just steps away. Its close to everything you would need but also, still very safe, peaceful and laid back. Every room was clean and fresh. The staff (Sophie) was very friendly and made me like I was at home. Thank you for the experience looking forward to returning.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for taking the time to place a review! So happy that you enjoyed your stay with us @ Tropical Breeze. i look forward to hearing from you for a future reservation! karen Hill (owner)

“Fantastic Villa”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2012

This guesthouse was excellent. A large group of us went down and we had splendid time. The owner Karen called several times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. This isn't typical in Jamaica. She really cares about her guests. The house itself has several washrooms (with hot water!) and a fully equipped kitchen. The swimming pool is large and clean with great views. There are fruit trees growing all over the grounds and the beauty is breath taking. The beach is a few minutes walk, lots of stores and banks nearby. When staying on the beach getting around is a pain - but not here - everything is in easy reach. The kitchen was one of my highlights. It really has everything you need to make great meals. As an aspiring chef it was fun to walk down to the fruit/vegetable stands just a few steps from the gate. The hosts were Nolan and Sophie. You can't find more friendly warm people anywhere. I would say they really did make our stay memorable. We wouldn't have had half the experience we did without them. Nolan and I cooked a few meals together (he is a blue ribbon cook himself). If you don't feel like cooking, he will gladly cook for you. His jerk chicken and jerk pork are 5 star! If you need something special, or need a quick ride some where, no problem. We arrived as guests and left as friends. A few other things about staying at Tropical Breeze...Wi-fi works great, there is aC (but we didn't ever use it), there are no plastic chairs (chairs are wicker and much more comfortable than plastic...I hate plastic chairs). Speaking of furniture, the pool deck has all brand new loungers and chairs. Very nice. There weren't any kids on the property before us, but the kids were made to feel very welcome and there was plenty for them to do. The beds were really comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The front patio is where we spent most of our time, just seems to be the meeting place. It's a Jamaican experience, but miles above average.

Response from the owner Amazing review, I couldnt be happier thay your group had such a positive rewarding experience. It is very important to me personally that my guests are comfortable safe and happy. If at any time there are any issues that arise during your stay with us I would encourage anyone to get in touch with me personally and I will have the situation addressed asap. I look forward to seeing you and your group back with us again next year!. Thanks so much! Karen (owner)

“"A great time was had by all!!"”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2011

My family recently returned from a reunion in which we hadn't seen in each other in many years. We chose Tropical Breeze because we liked the location and the look of the pool but more importantly because we thought we would be able to thoroughly enjoy each others company in the large fully equipped kitchen as we all love to cook ( you don't have much choice growing up when you come from a large family!) We were more than happy with our choice!! The place was spotless and in a great location. Close proximity to the beach and groceries, restaurants, pretty much everything. The kitchen was as described, big, and had all the utensils and cooking ware you would ever need. The pool was definitely a highlight as we often enjoyed our meals on the spacious deck area. The staff were helpful and friendly and we would definitely recommend this villa to any group of travellers.

Response from the owner Thanks very much for your review, and more than happy that you got to reunite with your family in a setting that made you all comfortable.. We also provide the opportunity for you to kick back and relax and let us take care of the cooking so consider that as an option so you can really relax and enjoy each others company! Hope to see you back @ Tropical Breez again soon! karen Hill (owner)
