On the Rocks 2 bedroom cottage with Boat Dock

In an idyllic location on the impressive and beautiful peninsula of The Eastern Shore and overlooking the Sea of Abaco and Sugar Loaf Cay. The closest thing to being on an island without the need for a boat!

'On the Rocks' is just two miles from the town of Marsh Harbour and the ferry to Guana Cay and within walking distance to the Hope Town and Man of War ferries. The town has a good selection of shops, supermarkets and medical facilities all staffed by friendly and helpful people. Car and Boat Rentals are available locally and there is a good taxi service to and from the International Airport just 20 minutes away. Golf is available at Treasure Cay and Winding Bay and divers are serviced by two well established Dive Shops in the town.

The cottage is a well equipped, cool and comfortable home. One can walk, run and swim in complete safety along Eastern Shore whilst those not so energetically inclined can read and lie in the sun and relax on the large deck. An ideal haven for painters or writers who feel like a change of workplace. Those interested in bird watching (the feathered variety that is) can attempt to see the Abaco Parrots on forays into the surrounding countryside. The view of sunrise and sunset from the deck is spectacular and the constant activity of the passing boats by day or sitting under the stars at night means there is always something to capture one's imagination.

“Location, Location”

Beautiful spot, on the Eastern shores, quiet area. House clean and organized, comfortable beds, nicely furnished. The deck is a great place to hang out day & night. Short drive to restaurants & groceries. Easy snorkeling right down the stairs, and lots to see. Didn't need a/C just left windows open at night and the breeze was enough to cool off. We rented a car and toured around down to Pete's Pub, a must! Treasure Cay, beautiful beaches, and Cherokee Sound Settlement another gorgeous spot to visit. Went to Bahama Palm shores to see abaco Parrots saw about 6, they keep well hidden in the trees. Friendly locals all around town and restaurants. The owner was very helpful and easily accessible. The caretaker also very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our days at this rental home. Thank you :)

Response from the owner Barbie, thank you for your review. I am so glad that you and Robert had such an enjoyable holiday and managed to get to see so much of our wildlife. I hope you come again sometime. Regards Christopher

“Perfect location with gorgeous views”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2013

"On the Rocks" is the perfect holiday cottage. It is in a private, quiet location right on the water, but is close to the supermarket, liquor store and restaurants (not walking distance however). It is also close to the ferries which will take you to the other small islands. The ferry to Hope Town and Man o'War Cay is within walking distance. The cottage is very comfortable and well-appointed. You will not be lacking for anything. Its most spectacular feature however is the view. It is situated near the end of a narrow peninsula so there is a water view at both the front and the back of the cottage. French doors at the back of the cottage open onto a beautiful deck right over the water with sun loungers and a dining table. The view is spectacular. The Cays are visible in the distance and there are boats going back and forth constantly. A perfect spot for breakfast and then watching the sunset at the end of the day. There are steps down to the water so you can swim right off the property. The house has a/C, but it was not necessary. The house opens up beautifully to the cooling breeze. Very highly recommended for a relaxing holiday.

Response from the owner It is great that On the Rocks turned out to be your perfect location. I hope we see you back again another time. Regards Christopher

“Beautifully situated holiday escape”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at 'On the Rocks' for a week last December and we absolutely loved it. It is the perfect holiday cottage - beautifully situated with wonderful views, very comfortable and well-equipped. The large outdoor deck above the sea is lovely for having breakfast in the morning and for enjoying the fantastic sunsets with a gin and tonic in the evening! The cottage is in a great location - very peaceful and private but close to Marsh Harbour for supermarkets and restaurants, etc. Christopher was extremely helpful and there is also information in the cottage on getting around and activities. We rented a boat for the week which was a great way of exploring all the nearby cays - beautiful beaches and crystal clear, turquoise water for snorkelling. We had an incredible holiday and would highly recommend 'On the Rocks' to others.

Response from the owner So glad that you had such a great time with your boyfriend and thank you for your comments.

“Private Hideaway on the Sea”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

Me and my wife stayed here for over a week and it was a great place to stay. The cottage is located near the end of Marsh Harbour on the rocks with views of the sea on one side and the bay on the other. The deck on the sea provides beautiful views and the mooring ball is useful if you have a boat. Almost every window has a view of the sea- including the large sliding glass doors in the living room. Our stay was comfortable, relaxing and quiet- except for the sound of the waves...Very nice place to stay; it was hard to leave actually! Highly recommended! One of the best things about "On the Rocks" is the helpful owners and their son who took us along to Guana Caye on his boat. The place is fully equipped with everything you'll need for an extended stay. The cottage is small but well proportioned, new, clean, and nicely decorated. The books, maps, phone numbers and tour information provided were useful while planning out islands trips, and the small book on husband do's and don'ts from 1913 was entertaining. "On the Rocks" is a perfect place to stay because it's private, but close to the dock area where restaurants and bars are located. It is also very close to the ferry to the other islands. There are good snorkeling locations nearby where the rocks just come above the sea east of the cottage (young coral, barracudas, turtles, lionfish and sea cucumbers), and Mermaid Reef is a short drive or bike ride. We'd love to go back to the cottage on the rocks!!

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments and glad that we were able to make it such a memorable stay. I hope you return one day.

The cottage was very well appointed and I cannot think of anything else we could have required. It was close to the ferry terminal for Hope Town and Man of War cay and also close to the supermarket, liquor store and a very nice restaurant and bar right on the water. We loved sitting on the deck watching the boats travelling back and forward between the other islands and loved watching the glorious sunsets with a glass of wine, positively idyllic.

Response from the owner So glad you enjoyed your stay so much.
