“Peace of Mind and Convenience in the "Big apple"!”
We are from NY Harlem but have been living abroad in Dubai for the past 10 years. Our first positive impression of the owner and our host, Milton Wilson, was when he actually returned our call inquiring about the apartment -- he actually returned our call to Dubai! We booked and stayed at Mr. Wilson's townhouse for two weeks in august 2013. Our original plan was to stay 3 days at a hotel downtown and then move to Harlem. The hotel we booked downtown was horrendous so we called Mr. Wilson after the first night and asked if we could come earlier than our reservation of 3 days later. Mr. Wilson said "come on" and re-arranged his schedule during a torrent rainstorm to meet and get us settled in. He has several rentals in and around Harlem so he has the resources that allow him flexibility. More importantly, as most of Mr. Wilson's guests are coming from places which require long, ardurous flights. Being a man of the world himself, he is understanding and compassionate about the plights of long-distance travelers. We waited for Mr. Wilson about a half-hour; but, within the hour, he had us "tucked-in" a beautiful, warm, dry and secure second-floor apartment overlooking the perfectly groomed garden visible from the bedroom. Mr. Wilson is a walking encyclopedia of Harlem-its history and development-and stands ready and willing to disclose that knowledge just for the asking. Yea, he's very busy; an architect by trade, but also a natural businessman and conversationalist who loves to chat; and, above all, an ardent listener. He's not intrusive; but will always, no matter how busy, make time for his guests. The perfect location is convenient to everything. I intend to re-visit Milton's townhouse very soon and highly recommend the beautiful stay to all our international family and friends who want a comfortable, safe, unobtrusive, "home away from home" in the great -- but chaotic and ever-changing -- metropolitan of New York (even if you think you know it well)!
“One of the best deals in NYC”
My husband and I stayed here for the first time in late april and whenever we go to NYC again, this is the place we will choose. (Hope it is not fully booked :-) ) The owner is a real gem indeed, hospitable and friendly; he made us feel very welcome. It is a funky apartment, everything in it was fresh and tidy and worked, nothing luxurious (who needs that with such a brilliant owner to welcome you?), nicely located in central Harlem and close to the subway (125th). To put it simply - one of the best deals in NYC; it quickly became our home away from home.
“A wonderfull stay”
We have visited NY for the second time, and this time we have recieved the info about Wilson apartment through a friends of us. The apartment is very nice, and compared to any Hotel in NY bigger with all the comfort you may need in your stay, LCD TV (cable tv), wifi, and a small kitchen where you can prepare your meals. The location is also very good, the subway is 2 min far from the apartment and goes directly to Times Square or Downtown, and also the streets around the apartment are full of beatifull locals, and restaurant. Wilson is a nice person and very helpfull, and in case you may need something for sure he will help you. I will recomend to stay in this apartment if you are planning to stay in NY.
The Location: Buses and subway are one minute away; then half an hour ride to the city center. Lots of Restaurants are within walking distance (Corner Social is the to-go place now. Jacob Soul Food is great, plus many chains within a few blocks). Supermarkets (Pioneer will cater most basic grocery needs), drug stores, and dollar stores are around the corner. Other branded shops, street stalls, thrift stores, etc are conveniently located near the unit. Ups, Fedex, postal office, laundry places are in the neighborhood too. The apartment: Look at the pictures posted. The apartment is exactly what you get. It should accommodate 3 to 4 people with no problem. It is on the top floor. I enjoy the nice daily exercise to walk two floors up and down. The place is clean and quiet, even during the winter holidays. Pots and pans, plates and bowls, etc are enough for real cooking for a medium-size party. There are a lot of left-over condiments from previous lodgers (just check the expiration dates). You got plenty of good linens and towels. Wifi works. Tv has cables. An inkjet printer is in place (how about that!?) The Man: All in all, the manager is one of the most important parts of any rental place. Mr Wilson is "the man". You will be well attended the moment of your arrival. He lives very close to the premise. I had one or two minor issues that required attentions. One call and Mr Wilson was there to take care of business, even at late night. Mr Wilson has delivered holiday treats for me twice during my stay. Top that! I also enjoy conversations with Mr Wilson, which is most memorable. Now I am thinking. What if next time the place is fully booked when I go to New York? I better say something bad quick. (joke)
We have had our best stay at New York in a apartment like this. Its location is perfect for daytrips to Manhattan without the noise in your bedroom when you want to rest. The owner takes great care of you when you want to relax and comes with fast, constructive solutions when there are any problems.
“really a breeze”
The apartment was great with a great location near metro station. Supermarkets around. The owner was very kind. really a place I would recommend
“A really nice apartment”
We spent a week in this pretty apartment with four people. It was a nice time and we felt very comfortable. Everything was proper, towels, tea towels and fresh bed linen were there. Milton Wilson, the owner and a really charming man, helped us in any questions about the apartment and also about New York. The apartment is situated in Harlem, near the subway at 125th street. It is just 3 minutes to go. Around this area we could find a lot of cafés, pubs and restaurants. By subway it takes about 15 minutes to reach midtown. If we visit New York the next time, we would come back!! Thanks for all!
With this apartment you can't go wrong. Not very luxurious, but all functional, allowing us to stay 2 weeks to full satisfaction. Very lively neighbourhood. Beautiful location in central Harlem, with restaurants(some days live music), Star-Bucks, supermarkets, subway, busses, etc. around the corner. Large gym across the street. Central Parc North just a few blocks away. Very safe; we where never bothered, even though sometimes we came back late at night. Owner Milton Wilson is very charismatic and easy going, knows the city inside out and is very helpful. We had a wonderful time and will shurely visit again.
My husband and I and our 12-year-old granddaughter stayed for a week recently in Mr. Wilson's wonderful townhouse. The apartment had everything we needed, was super clean and the location was great. Just a couple of blocks to the 2/3 subway, and if you're a foodie, Red Rooster and Sylvia's are right down the street. The apt. had a very comfortable double bed in the separate bedroom, and a futon in the living room. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need if you want to eat in, and the bathroom was good-sized. All the windows had screens and it was nice to sleep with them open -- and surprisingly little street noise! If I had to say one thing that wasn't perfect, the shower could have used a little more water pressure, but it was adequate. Will stay here for sure on future trips to NYC. Mr. Wilson (Milton) was a joy to work with. He's a true gentleman.
