“Unbelievably Amazing Place”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2015

If you're considering staying in a Windcliff Property, the Cedar Upper is a must. It's at the top of the mountain so it has by far the best view of Rocky Mountain National Park. This place has the perfect mountain cabin feel to it with incredible views from all of the front windows and decks. My wife and I stayed here a week for our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place. The only complaint I have is that I couldn't get the wifi to work on my Android phone. It worked on my wife's iPhone an iPad, but not my phone and the lady at the office didn't know what to do. The town of Estes Park is almost a stone's throw from Windcliff. So it's perfect for staying out in the mountains yet close enough to town for tourism, dining, and shopping. Estes Park is such a neat and beautiful town. We loved our stay in Cedar Upper.

“Early Summer Interlude”

Wonderful week of relaxation and beautiful views. Road up takes a little getting used to but not a problem. The staff were excellent and the property was in first class order. I hope to do this again in a couple of years.

I have stayed at Windcliff a number of times in the last 12 years. There is no better value in the RMNP area. The entire development is situated on the west side of Rams Horn Mountain giving occupants unparalleled views of the mountains. You would have to hike or drive well into the park to get this kind of view. The drive up the mountain to Cedar Upper is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. You do not need any special type of vehicle. The roadways are wide and well maintained. Cedar Upper is very spacious and private. At one end is a Master bedroom and bath that is far removed from the two bedrooms and baths on the other end of the unit. In between is a great room with fireplace, dining area and library with home theater. Each end of the home has a private deck available and there are decks on the front and rear also. The home is very comfortable and nicely decorated with quality furniture and artworks. The galley kitchen is well stocked with implements and small appliances. You will have what you need to prepare almost any meal. Skylights and windows provide abundant natural light. The view is exquisite. Let’s face it…it’s all about the mountains here and Cedar Upper has the best views for the money of any Windcliff rental. You will not be disappointed!

Response from the manager Thank you so much for this glowing review! Cedar Upper has had many upgrades in the last few years and we think it is a very special place. We hope to see you back again soon.

“Great stay at Cedar Upper”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2014

Stayed here with my wife and another couple in late August 2014 just for 3 nights. Pros: - Outstanding view of the mountains; fun to watch the changes in light and the weather; multiple decks - Spacious, plenty of room in the living and kitchen areas - 3 full baths, nice towels - Kitchen well equipped - Nice hot tub, able to see stars at times - Clean throughout - Comfortable beds and nice sheets - Reasonably private, though able to see down to Lower Cedar hot tub area and vice-versa; not really an issue - One car able to use garage, which is shared with Lower Cedar guest - Nice BBQ grill - Very quiet - Easy check in process - 10 minutes to Estes Park shopping and short drive to get to RMNP - Good value for all you get Cons - Kind of a challenging drive up the mountainside to get to the house, but not too bad - Skylight in second master has no automatic closing blind, so you get lots of light in the early morning that woke us up Overall an excellent stay and a great place for 2-3 couples or families.

“Our home away from home”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2014

This was our 4th trip to this property (and 6th to Windcliff) and we were thrilled at the TLC they have put in to this gem of a home over the past year! A special thank you to Nancy for your attention to all of the details and upgrades! As always, it's the best view on the entire mountain. However, now the decor has all the mountain charm you would come to expect in a Windcliff rental! We especially appreciated the upgrades to the kitchen--better pots and pans, appliances, knives, salad spinner, kitchen gadgets and large serving pieces. The honor bar was a nice touch--as were the games and cards and puzzles. We were there for 3 weeks with our two children and our two parents and we felt right a home. There were rarely issues, but when we did need something (like the upper windows being closed due to inclement weather), the office staff was right on it--courteous and quick to take care of the details. And we enjoyed seeing great wildlife up and down the mountain while we were there ;). We continue to love coming to Cedar Upper--and all the homes at Windcliff--and look forward to many future returns!

“No better views out there”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2014

Loved this place! Wish I lived here, the views were stunning, spectacular, best I've ever seen! The hot tub was perfectly situated outside so you could see the stars at night. Rocky Mountain National Park was a five minute drive away as was the town of Estes Park where you could shop, dine, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, felt right at home and did not want to leave

Enter this home and, immediately you are overwhelmed by the view from the living room. Our group, six family members, wondered whether we could leave this spot because the beauty was unmatched. Mt wife got her wishes fulfilled by the star viewing, unimpeded by any lights from the surrounding area. A storm one evening gave unequaled views of lightening that sent shivers through all of us. Fully furnished, new leather couches in living and library rooms. The layout of home was great in that it allowed room for everyone to find their own space when necessary. Staff was responsive and supportive when yellow jackets were encountered on rear deck. Professional assistance was summoned and the problem was resolved. I would recommend this home to everyone.

Response from the manager Thanks so much for the great review. Be sure to check out the amazing new furnishings and furniture at Cedar Upper, go to We hope you come back soon!

“second time staying in the Windcliff property”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

Our family has decided to return to Estes Park for the third time and without a second thought as soon as our annual vacation plan finalized-we found this perfect windcliff property sits nearly at top of the mountain. Cedar Upper was exceed our expectations. The views from both decks are spectacular. Peaceful and simply beautiful. The layout of the house was prefect for my family and my sister-in-law's. Our Bedroom was on the opposite side from theirs which gave us privacy. We have a young boy and they have a teenager so with this setting. We both enjoyed not to crowd into each other whenever we wanted to. The 2 living rooms were long with its own couches and chairs. Dining table can comfortably sits 8 but there were only 6 of us. The house was clean but kitchen do needs some updates but everything functioned as they supposed. (I am spoiled with a modern kitchen at home) There were plentiful of pots and pans and utensils. Bathrooms has plenty of towels and even travel size lotion, shampoo and small bars of soap. Having washing machine and dryer was a bonus and they provided laundry detergent as well. We would highly recommened this property. Thanks Windcliff and their helpful staffs!!

“Cedar Upper”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

This is the second time we have stayed at this property. Has probably the best view at Windcliff; it is the hightest property there. Lots of room. Will house three couples easily, each with their own private bath and deck. There is also a Cedar Lower on the first floor, but that was never occupied when we were there. Price was reasonable for what all you get.

“Keep this a secret!”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

I hate to say too much about how wonderful this place is. It's a little selfish because if we tell too many people, everyone will want to come. Lets just say, you can't do better than this in Estes Park. The staff at Windcliff is phenomenal and the pictures you see on line of Cedar Upper don't really come close to being there in person. We love Windcliff.
